Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 50: Going To Tell Him
Celine found herself standing outside the building of Grayson Corp with one purpose in mind, she had gone to the Grayson Corp building to meet Tristan in person so she could tell him about her pregnancy.
It had taken her almost half an hour before she summoned the courage and got out of the car after using a mask to keep her face concealed so she wouldn’t be recognized. It wasn’t an easy conversation to have, it wasn’t exactly the type of talk one could have at an official place of work but she had no choice but to see him at his office at this point.
Celine had taken the option of going to his home instead, but she had gone there three times in a row only to be told by guards that he wasn’t there. On the third day she had gone there to see him, the guards had advised her against coming there since there was a very small chance he’d return anytime soon.
"Mr Grayson does own the villa, but he stays here for less than a week in a single month, and there’s no specific time he returns here. It’s not surprising since he has other properties he calls home, I think your best bet of seeing him would be going to the Grayson Corp. He never misses a day of work from what I’ve heard."
Celine had sighed feeling somewhat discouraged after not seeing him for three days in a row. Convincing herself to even see him had taken a while, she was afraid she’d back out from it if she allowed herself more time where several thoughts would threaten to change her mind, so she hadn’t thought too much about it and came over to the company the very next morning.
Grayson Corp stood towering over the manicured plazas of Neville, it was a gigantic building which at first glance felt like a declaration of dominion.
With obsidian-glass facade, and a seamless set of smoked windows and sharp, modern angles that seemed to capture the skies and fractured it into a thousand cold, blue shards.
The building itself reminded one of the aura of the man who founded it, cold and detached. Celine took a deep breath as she stepped through the triple-height, silently gliding doors which felt like passing through a soundless membrane into another realm.
The roaring movements and distant whooshing of cars outside was instantly replaced by a vast, organized hush. She was met with a wide lobby of glacial marble.
Two serene and impeccably dressed receptionists were positioned behind a desk of white onyx.
As she moved forward, her footsteps echoed faintly on the polished stone, the organization with which employees moved and the precision of the whole building itself made Celine feel like she was in the quiet beating heart of Neville itself.
So this was what Grayson Corp looked like?
"Hello, how may we help you madam?" The receptionists echoed one another in a precisely professional manner that had Celine caught off guard for a single moment.
"I’d like to see Mr Grayson please."
Celine knew just walking into the company to request a meeting with the CEO was very much an impossible task. So she had thought of something beforehand.
The two receptionists exchanged glances then looked back at her, those practiced, polite smiles immediately returning to their faces.
"I’m sorry ma’am, but..."
"I’m here about Eclipse estates, we’re changing the terms of the offer and I specifically have to discuss this with Mr Grayson and no one else." Celine explained calmly.
Eclipse estates were a set of properties which were currently hot cakes for big companies right now. Though Grayson Corp could be said to own about 85% of Neville in terms of assets, properties and buildings, it was still a very ambitious enterprise aiming to own more outside Neville and more.
Eclipse estates was owned by a mysterious person, located in Belmore city. Last night, Celine had thought about how she was supposed to approach coming to Grayson Corp to see it’s president unannounced. She had then seen the news of an ongoing acquisition between Grayson Corp and the owner of Eclipse estates. Though it was a lie she told the receptionists through her teeth, she hoped they would buy it.
A look of understanding showed on their faces.
"Ah, you’re a representative of Mr Grant?" The professionally trained receptionist quietly sized up the elegant woman in front of her. Something about her was regal in a way one couldn’t describe, her eyes looked like early morning skies, deep and blue. One could only guess the beauty behind the mask, making it a bit hard to believe she was just a representative but the situation aligned and they were indeed expecting a representative here today so the receptionist didn’t doubt her words.
Celine nodded at the question, glad that they didn’t find her suspicious. It seemed they did buy it. She just needed this excuse to be allowed entrance into his office, after which she was sure he would recognize her. She still didn’t know how she would start up the conversation yet, but she would figure something out. However the receptionist said something that immediately shattered the image of her having this conversation with Tristan today.
"I’m sorry ma’am, Mr Grayson isn’t in the building right now, he isn’t even in Neville. He left yesterday for official matters to New York."
Celine’s expression immediately turned crestfallen as she heard that news, she uttered a disappointed "Oh," before she went on to ask, "When will he return?"
"Hmm, I’m unaware of his schedule ma’am, but I do know that he’s going to Germany after and usually when he goes on these trips, he takes about a month or less. But the Eclipse estates deal has been handed over to one of the managers, please hold, I’ll make a call to find out who to refer you to."
Celine nodded a little distractedly.
For some reason, it felt like there was something out there holding her back from meeting Tristan, but the thought of giving up hadn’t crossed her mind. She knew she had to at least tell him about this baby.
Since she wasn’t actually here to discuss any properties, Celine didn’t linger, while the receptionists were distracted she turned around making to leave, however she didn’t notice the tall shadow of a man who had been hovering around her for a while, nor did she anticipate it when this person suddenly grabbed her wrist stopping her before she could leave.
Celine stopped walking, a deep frown tugged her brows together, confusion shinning in her blue eyes as she immediately turned to look at the hand gripping her wrist. It was a man’s hand apparent by visible veins and the size larger than what a woman’s delicate hand was supposed to look like.
Her gaze trailed up to the man’s face which she couldn’t see behind a baseball cap except his lips which held a light smile.
"Leaving already? I’m sure the owners of Eclipse estates who sent you won’t be pleased if you don’t stay to finalize the deal, am I right?"
Celine’s frown deepened.
This person had overheard her claiming to have come from Eclipse estates? It was an excuse she’d used just to be allowed pass to see the CEO, Celine knew her identity as an actress alone wouldn’t have gotten her access but this person...why was he interfering?
"There’s no need, we’ll close the deal with Mr Grayson himself when he gets back." Celine replied trying to tug her wrist free but the person held still, her eyes lifted with a glare.
What was this person’s problem?
Perhaps the look in her eyes had an effect, he let her go afterwards and just when she had started walking away, his words stopped her.
"I don’t think so, we actually need to close the deal today. Coincidentally, I’m also a representative from Eclipse, and I don’t remember my boss sending two representatives."
Her eyes went wide with dread.
So this man was actually the real representative?
Her harmless little lie...had she been blatantly exposed right now?
