Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 52: With His Woman
Celine stared down at the whole city from her balcony in her apartment. Her phone screen illuminated her face in the darkness of the night, a set of numbers showed on the screen but the moment she was about to press the dial button, she pulled back her finger hesitantly.
It had taken Celine over a week to get Tristan’s personal phone number. After going to his company to meet with him and then being told that he was out of country on a business trip, she’d had to turn to sourcing through past acquaintances, using old connections to finally secure his phone number.
She remembered something Natalia had said to her, whatever happened or however he ended up reacting to the news, at least she’d made her best efforts by letting him know.
She had made the decision to raise this child on her own, though she wasn’t entirely confident that she would be able to do it all on her own but...a child would grow eventually and wonder who it’s father was, what would she tell her child then?
And most importantly, Tristan had every right to know about it, whatever he chose to do afterwards wasn’t her fault. This was what Celine continued to tell herself repeatedly to edge herself on to make the call which she’d been delaying for a few hours now.
She wondered what would happen if by chance he decided to accept the baby. She had spoken to him that night and he’d made her feel comfortable and safe, he didn’t at all seem like a bad person or someone who would blame her alone for the whole situation.
If he didn’t hate her for carrying his child unexpectedly, would they raise the baby together?
Celine had no illusions of a relationship forming between them, however this child was a variable that might erase the deal of never seeing each other again.
Would they have to see each other often to co-parent?
At this thought, she suddenly recalled how her heart had raced just by seeing him again across the road the other day. There was a way her heart beats whenever she was in his presence, and these were things she didn’t want to interfere with whatever casual partnership they might share in the future, for the child. But...would she really be able to curb these hidden emotions if she had to spend a lot of time with him to take care of the baby?
Celine removed these thoughts from her head, these were questions she didn’t need answers to immediately, she decided to follow Natalia’s philosophy for once: live for right now, and let tomorrow take care of itself. Though it was a quote Natalia used to ignore big problems and have fun in the moment but it seemed to work for Celine right now.
She held onto her phone tightly where the digits of his phone number were displayed and all she had to do was hit the dial pad but her finger hesitated. It was only after she calmed herself with several deep breaths did she thoughtlessly hit dial before she could hesitate again.
Her heart suddenly started to beat rapidly as she placed the phone by her ear, with each ring from the other end, her heart rate seemed to accelerate.
"Ring, ring..." Celine repeatedly tapped her finger against the glass railings of the balcony nervously. Anxiety skidding through her veins like a cold trickle of water when the ringing suddenly came to a stop indicating the call had been picked. Her heart skipped a beat as she nervously uttered a quiet, "He...hello?"
"Hello, who’s this?"
Celine felt her breath still when she heard a sultry female voice over the phone. It took a second before she replied to the woman who’d answered Tristan’s phone...or perhaps she had gotten the wrong number.
"Hello, my name is Celine. I’d like to speak with Mr Grayson please." Celine said calmly knowing that she couldn’t have gotten the wrong number. It could be his assistant or a staff working closely with him.
She expected to be told that he was in a meeting or something along those lines, it was the only logical explanation why a woman would pick his call however, what the woman said made her throat constrict painfully.
"I’m sorry, Tristan’s asleep right now, but you can leave a message, I’ll tell him when he wakes up."
There was an intimacy in the woman’s voice that sounded far more closer than what an assistant would sound like and a proud possessiveness too.
She recalled the image of the woman who had happily embraced Tristan the other day and the tightness in her throat intensified.
Of course...he was with his woman at this moment, why had she even bothered to call?
Celine suddenly felt terrible, would she be destroying their relationship if this woman got to know that she was currently going to have his child?
"It’s nothing important, nevermind. I’m sorry if I bothered you."
The woman’s voice sounded again, soft and reassuringly kind.
"No, it’s okay. Are you sure you don’t wanna leave a message? Tristan doesn’t keep anything from me so he won’t mind you telling me about whatever you have to say to him." The fact that the woman sounded genuinely kind made Celine feel even more terrible. It made her feel like the third party, someone intruding on someone else’s life.
"No, it’s really nothing important. Thanks anyway." Celine was about to hang up when she heard the woman’s voice again.
"Alright, how about this? Can you leave a name please, I’ll tell him when he wakes up that you called and I’ll absolutely make sure he calls you back so you can tell him directly. Is that okay?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Okay. Please tell him Celine called and there’s something really important I need to talk to him about."
"Sure. I’ll let him know." The woman replied.
"Thank you." Celine’s words were a quiet whisper when she hung up the call.
She tried to curb the piercingly painful feeling in her chest when she imagined the lovely relationship Tristan might have with this woman. It was none of her business, whatever kind of life he lived and who he was with had nothing to do with her, so why was it hurting her so badly to find out that he already had a woman with whom he would want to make commitments, the same commitments he sternly told her he didn’t wish to have.
Regardless of her own feelings she wouldn’t want to break another woman’s heart, the woman who sounded really kind.
Was it really okay for her to tell him she was pregnant?
Would that make her...a homewrecker?
