With those final, ominous words, the system notification went silent.
Across the globe, almost everyone who was a player had a mixture of panic and fear running across their faces. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
The citizens of the Solaris Kingdom were already making a commotion.
"The Defense Ministry of the Solaris Kingdom suggested that almost 70% of the Kingdom’s dungeons were controlled and monitored. How did this happen?"
"This isn’t just about the Solaris Kingdom. The percentage accounts for the rest of the world as well. The other nations must have dragged the average down!"
"World Quests? What is that? I do not like the sound of it. The Origin Network said they will spawn at random across the world. Not inside the game world, but right here in reality. Shouldn’t we be scared right now?"
"Of course we should be scared. In fact, I am going to go live in the ocean or something. Wasn’t there an underwater city in the Atlanta Archipelago near our Western Domain?"
"What makes you think it won’t spawn there? It is not a Solaris Kingdom quest, dumbass. It is a World Quest. Nowhere is safe."
On the internet, livestreams were chaotic.
"Chat, we are so cooked.
"Anyways chat, should I invade the Solaris Palace and ask for the King’s opinion?"
"100 gifted subs and I will do it, chat!"
"Hm, it looks like the Public Security Bureau is already on the move. People are panicking, and they are trying to appease the citizens."
"Appease them? How? Almost everyone has access to the Origin Ascension Domain. Now that something like a World Quest and the threat of removal from the ’bracket’ has appeared, it is definitely going to cause mass hysteria."
"Anyways, I already booked a ticket to the Moonbase. Thank god I am rich."
"The Moon? Don’t you know there are dungeons on the moon too? The lunar surface is accounted for by the Origin Domain as well."
"Then I am leaving for outer space."
"We haven’t achieved light-speed technology yet, buddy. You can’t run from it. Come join us as we panic together."
...
Back in the dormitory.
Both Caelus and Sylvia, who was still comfortably seated in his lap, stared at each other in dumbfounded silence.
"Well, this was unexpected," Sylvia said with a soft, melodic chuckle. "It looks like we are in danger, Classmate Caelus."
"Should we just give up and hide somewhere safe? Just you and me?"
"Stop it, woman. I won’t fall for your lies and deceptions again."
"Are you calling me a liar?" Sylvia looked genuinely sad, her bottom lip trembling slightly. "But what I said is genuine. You are my blood partner now. What will I do without you if the world ends?"
"..." Caelus’s lips twitched.
These last ten minutes of his life were more eventful than the entire time since he had transmigrated here.
A girl jumped him, who turned out to be the genius Special Class beauty Sylvia, and then forcibly made him her blood bond partner.
From what he had observed, there didn’t seem to be any negative impact on him aside from losing some HP, which should swiftly recover after eating a good meal.
And he also received a skill out of it.
In the long run, he would even make money.
In this world, every man needed one thing, whether to chase their dreams or simply survive, and that was money. Caelus, being a self-proclaimed connoisseur of wealth and knowledge, was naturally not going to say no to easy income.
100 Origin Credits per day didn’t sound that bad, did it?
He didn’t particularly like this girl’s pushy attitude, but it was fine if the cost was just a bit of blood.
Caelus was very quick and swift with his decisions. Since such a situation had arisen, he decided to utilize it and gain something out of it as well.
That aside, there were also the issues related to the Origin Ascension Domain update.
Of course the world has to change when I, Caelus, get a Golden Finger. Caelus sighed internally.
But still, World Quests... I wonder if there will be unique rewards from them. Caelus appeared thoughtful.
Then, Sylvia suddenly spoke, breaking his train of thought.
"By the way, Classmate Caelus, what server are you in?" She tilted her head and asked with genuine interest, her silver hair cascading over his shoulder.
"Why do you want to know?" Caelus asked with a glare. "Do you plan on initiating a gamble with my server and stealing our resources?"
"Also, get out of my lap already. My legs are going numb. You are too heavy."
Sylvia was dumbfounded and a bit speechless.
"Heavy?"
She blinked, looking down at her slender figure.
"It looks like you still do not trust me that much," Sylvia said helplessly as she finally climbed out of Caelus’s lap and sat next to him on the bed, smoothing out her clothes.
"But I asked which server you were in because I wanted to help you level up," Sylvia said earnestly.
Seeing this, Caelus raised an eyebrow.
She wasn’t angry?
He just called a girl heavy. That was usually a death sentence.
Was she immune to such insults?
"I am in 513," Caelus said.
"You are one server above me. I am in 512," Sylvia said with a chuckle.
"That is great. I can get a Transfer Chip and transfer you to my server."
"My server is pretty stacked. Do you know Kevin from the Special Class? I am in his party right now."
"I will add you to our party, and you can level up faster that way."
"Kevin is very strong. He is even stronger than me right now. With him, it might be possible for us to climb the ranks in the Ascension Domain quickly. I will also help you personally," Sylvia added, her eyes shining with sincerity.
"Why would I need external help to climb the ranks?" Caelus snorted.
"I don’t need any help," Caelus said with a slight smile forming on his face. "And you are mistaken if you think I do."
Sylvia was taken aback by his response.
Was he just being stubborn?
He knew what she was trying to hint at.
You don’t have any talents, so I will help you.
But it was still confusing. Why was she earnestly trying to help him?
Perhaps she wanted to help him to ensure the quality of her blood source?
Or was there something else he wasn’t aware of?
"I didn’t mean it like that. I apologize if you took it the wrong way," Sylvia said, appearing truly apologetic.
"It is fine," Caelus shrugged.
She didn’t know he had the Endless Extraction talent. At the same time, he was also slightly fired up. There were people stronger than him in this school. Even the girl in front of him was terrifyingly strong. That just gave him more motivation to push forward.
Buzz.
Just then, Sylvia’s phone rang.
The name "Kevin" flashed on the screen.
Seeing this, she stood up gracefully.
"Then, I will come back tomorrow, Classmate Caelus. See you~" Sylvia said with a playful wave, her usual cheerfulness returning instantly before she left the room.
Caelus stared at the closed door with a frown.
Only now did he realize something crucial.
This woman knew his name.
He had never introduced himself. To the rest of the school, he was just an invisible E-Rank nobody. Yet she had called him "Classmate Caelus" from the very first moment she entered the room.
It would’ve been fine if it was someone from the normal classes, but she was a special class student that rarely required you coming to the school, hence, the chances of her knowing his name was close to none.
