Chapter 304 -304: Raiding Knight Dewell’s House

As soon as he sat down, he knew that the cushion and backrest were filled with feathers, providing a comfortable resilience.

Just as he was mentally praising the sofa, he heard messy footsteps coming from the main staircase outside, both men and women.

Ye Nai sat steadily, watching a group of people get startled by the servants lying unconscious all over the staircase landing, pausing briefly before hurrying into the living room.

Leading the group was a middle-aged woman adorned with jewelry, wearing a simple yet elegant dress that accentuated her natural curves, beautifully patterned.

The young man beside her had hardly any wrinkles, his beard tightly trimmed to his face, looking neat rather than scruffy.

His clothes were in a tight and efficient style, barely altered, they would make a combat jacket, always ready for a fight, distinctly highlighting a military family style, apparent at first glance.

This man was followed by a young woman who appeared to be his wife.

Standing in the back row were men and women of younger ages. At a glance, there were all age groups, and they didn´t look like they were all born to the lead lady, but no matter their ages, their attire was similar: the women were radiant with jewels, and the men were nobly distinguished.

Two servants stood beside the hosts, both older in age, dressed much better than those in the foyer, likely the highest-ranking butlers in the house.

The male butler was about to speak when the middle-aged woman stopped him, seating herself alone on the long sofa opposite Ye Nai while the young couple took the shorter sofa on the other side.

There was a gap in the middle, wide enough to dance solo without feeling cramped.

The other family members gathered around these three sofas, seating themselves at the four corners of the room.

The male and female butlers silently retreated and closed the room door.

“I am Mrs. Dewell, and over there are my son and daughter-in-law. How may I address you, guest?”

“You can call me Avenger.”

As soon as Ye Nai finished speaking, the young men and women around gasped in amazement.

Mrs. Dewell glanced over, and her children immediately fell silent.

“Avenger, what do you need?”

“To capture you all.”

“Capture us? Just you alone?” Mrs. Dewell scoffed disdainfully, “I must admit you are quite capable by yourself, I guess you must be an advanced wizard, so you were sent alone to scout the enemy. You should have returned after gathering some intelligence, not stay here trying to reach higher up.”

Ye Nai listened with a smile, understanding that to expand his vocabulary, he indeed needed to engage with prominent figures. Look, without even asking a proper question, the lady had already rambled on.

“Lady, as you know, I´m not good with language.”

Mrs. Dewell nodded gracefully, “Correct, your accent is stiff, with a rural tone. I assume your language teacher wasn´t of high status either.”

“Right, lady, you are wise. So, can you help me?”

“Help you? Hah…”

Mrs. Dewell had barely started laughing when she saw the uninvited guest opposite her frown and suddenly herself unable to utter any sound, the whole person stiffening on the sofa, unable to even move her eyes.

Her son, daughter-in-law, and the surrounding young people froze in their seats at the same instant.

Ye Nai also felt frustrated that his limited vocabulary made communication too laborious.

Fortunately, in a noble family´s house, there should be books, even if they were romantic novels.

Ye Nai no longer paid attention to the terrified nobles, who seemed to realize how formidable she was, and got up, walking out of the living room.

The two butlers stood in the foyer, not daring to bring in tea or leave on their own.

The servants on the ground were gone, probably moved to another room, which Ye Nai didn’t care about.

“You, where is this?” Ye Nai pulled out one of her own books, flipping through the pages, “I want this.”

The male and female butlers were drawn by the neatly printed white paper, and it took a few seconds for them to react. The male butler slightly bowed, leading Ye Nai upstairs.

After watching them ascend, the female butler quietly opened the door to check on the situation in the living room.

As Ye Nai walked along the second-floor corridor, she unsurprisingly heard a scream.

The male butler’s steps faltered, but he still managed to push open a door, feigning composure.

“Guest, this is the library of the house, are you looking for this place?”

“Yes.”

Ye Nai entered the room. Opposite the door were two large windows, illuminating the room brightly. The walls on either side were filled with top-to-bottom bookshelves, crammed with beautifully bound, thick books. To reach the books on the higher shelves, there was even a special sliding ladder.

“This is the library?”

“Yes, guest.”

“It’s beautiful, I like it.”

The male butler puffed out his chest with pride.

“Come here, I have questions for you.”

As Ye Nai spoke, she sat down on a reading chair by the left bookshelf, took out her laptop desk, created a new folder, and placed the document from her last Q&A in Beigen Village into it. Then she created a new document named ‘Knight Dewell’s House Q&A’. The document’s title indicated that the conversation was with the male butler.

Seeing this unprecedented and fascinating item, the male butler’s pupils shook again as he stood before her with utmost respect.

“Please, give your commands, guest.”

“I’m not good with words, so be smart about it. How long have you been here?”

The male butler nodded in understanding.

“I have been here since birth. My family has served the Knight’s Family for generations. My parents were the chief male and female butlers. They had several children after they married, and I am the most capable one. I took over from my father and continued to serve the esteemed Knight Dewell’s house.”

The other party explained clearly, and Ye Nai understood instantly.

It was a family dynasty of sorts.

“Mrs. Dewell is the lady…?”

“The lady of the house, Old Lady Dewell was the lady of the house,” the butler quickly added the term.

“Old Lady?”

“Old Lady, when young Mr. Dewell married, the previous Dewell lady became Old Lady, and the new lady is the younger one.”

“What about the master?”

“On the battlefield.”

“Where is the battlefield?”

“Um…” the butler hesitated.

“I am here for revenge,” Ye Nai gently reminded him.

The butler, still sharp, said, “I do not know where the lord’s current battlefield is. The last time he came home for a break was two or three years ago. All I know is that he first went to Viscount Shenbeige’s manor to regroup before heading out, but I am not aware of where he went afterwards, although he has written letters home, I do not know their content.”

Ye Nai typed furiously.

“Where is Viscount Shenbeige’s manor?”

“Quite far. Just riding a horse takes a month; if the weather is bad, it’ll take even longer.”
