Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 204: Invitation
Jeremiah frowned, ’’Your Majesty, what did I do?"
’’On the breakfast table yesterday, I was talking about a kingdom which met its downfall some time ago, and for someone who has been in closed space cultivation, honing his skills, you were quite fast to recognize which Kingdom it was,’’ Rezeph crossed his arm in front of his chest, watching Jeremiah’s face paling gradually.
’’Y-Your Majesty...’’ Jeremiah realized it slipped off his mouth at that time in a rush.
’’If you are wondering why I didn’t bring it up earlier, then it’s because of that little girl who would have tried to talk me out of punishing you,’’ Rezeph’s eyes narrowed, ’’I don’t like to say no to her because she barely asks me for anything. As for you, go into closed-door cultivation inside the Norwell Manor now. You are not to come out unless I ask you to,’’ the man’s tail moved as he approached the gates.
Norwell Manor. For a month. Not inside the castle, ’’Your Majesty, I...’’
’’Jeremiah Norwell, you are not my direct descendant,’’ Rezeph looked at him from above his shoulder, his gaze flicking to the crystal crown on the man’s head, ’’Just like I can crown you as my heir, I can rip the crown off your head. One snap of my fingers is all it will take for you and your family to meet your ruination,’’ the man left without looking back at him.
Without the trident, the place felt empty in the lack of its usual burst of divine powers.
Jeremiah’s eyes reddened. His fingers curled into fists as he glanced at the portal which had completely disappeared.
He swam out of the place, only to find his older brother and nephew outside the door.
Marcus and Lucian exchanged glances when they saw the man’s current expressions.
’’Go back first,’’ Marcus said to his son.
...
’’Esme... Es.. open your eyes,’’ Luciana panicked when Esme fell on the wooden bridge with closed eyes.
She looked around. In her daydreams, the heavenly realm was supposed to be bright and cloudy with angels flying everywhere but all she saw was a vast stretch of darkness in front of her with a few of the palace guards standing there with their weapons.
They were here to greet them. That’s what Luciana convinced herself with instead of thinking of the worse and believing that these people assumed that they were intruders.
They were on a wooden bridge under which there was a dark lake, the water shimmered under the blanket of stars that dimly illuminated the place.
Heaven... Luciana gulped, wondering if the King made a mistake and transported them to hell instead.
’’Es...’’ She shook Esme’s shoulder, trying to wake her up. If a year ago, someone told her that this woman would get motion sickness inside the portal and whine about feeling like throwing up, then Luciana would have laughed it off.
That night a year ago, Esme killed that head gardener without even flinching. That was the Esme she admired.
And this... was the friend who was making her feel secondhand embarrassment at the moment.
Leo who was lying lazily on Esme’s arm glared at her.
The beast never liked her or any of her family members. He was only close to Esme and the King.
Luciana concluded that it was probably because he retained his memories and he remembered that they had gone to Visteria as their enemies.
While it was a stretch but Luciana believed that Leo was extraordinary. The only two things that caught her interest in Visteria back then were Aleister... cough.. and Leo.
And there was something special about Leo. His level of understanding was almost as deep as theirs. Her instincts told her so.
’’Leo... wake her up..’’ she whispered, covering the sight of them from the guards with her back.
Understanding the graveness of the situation they were in, Leo licked Esme’s shoulder, who was sleeping like a baby now.
Luciana closed her eyes, an overwhelming sense of helplessness consuming her, ’’I don’t know if I can ever look at you in admiration after this,’’ she eyed the woman, ’’Who faints inside a portal? It only took us a few moments...’’ she was speechless.
Hearing the sounds of approaching footsteps, Luciana turned around.
The guards walked on the bridge in a queue.
’’We have been invited here,’’ Luciana pushed herself to her feet, ’’For the blessing ceremony.’’
’’Invitation,’’ one of the guards extended his hands. All tall and sturdy men who had their heads tilted upwards. Something was intimidating about them.
Luciana’s eyes narrowed slightly. Invitation. She faintly remembered the scroll which appeared in the sea court earlier. The King had crumpled and thrown it down.
There was no way he did not know that an invitation would be required for them to enter here. What did he want?
The more Luciana thought about it, the more it bothered her.
First, Cardan wanted Esme here.
Now, the King chose Esme to be sent here. That too, without any decent preparation and invitation.
What did these people want?
Women were said to be creatures with a manipulative streak. A pity that men put them to shame without anyone realizing it.
’’We don’t have one,’’ Luciana tilted her head, looking at the guard who was looking down at her arrogantly, ’’We are here to represent God Zephyr.’’
’’Capture them and put them in the cold cell,’’ the guard commanded.
Luciana’s eyes narrowed, ’’And if we are who I claim we are, I would take your heads as compensation for this humiliation,’’ A cold glint flashed across her eyes, ’’All your heads,’’ she whispered.
The guards were stunned for a moment as they looked at each other.
But the head guard remained adamant in his position, ’’Capture the intruders,’’ his voice was calm.
The head guard stepped towards her.
And the rest of the guards approached Esme. But before they could touch Esme, an earth-shattering roar reverberated in the place.
The old wooden bridge under Luciana’s feet shook as Leo roared.
Luciana pressed a palm on her ear instinctively.
She squatted to hold Esme’s hand as the bridge started tilting.
