Chapter 1430: Chapter 1428: Spirit

Richard continued: "This is similar to a collider. To simplify, it’s like I’m unable to split two stones barehanded to see what’s inside. So, I can grab each stone and smash them together. After multiple attempts, eventually one stone will shatter, or both stones will shatter simultaneously, and then I’ll know what’s inside."

"Phew..."

Moli listened and inwardly let out a sigh... This is something she finally understands.

Richard glanced at Moli and said seriously, "Forcibly combining extraordinary factors to study the resulting phenomena has been my main focus for the past three years."

"What were the results?" Moli asked.

"The results... I can only say, they were more complex than I imagined," Richard replied. "The initial attempts at combining extraordinary factors all failed. Based on these failures, I didn’t give up but continually refined the procedures, increased the experimental energy, and tested different combinations of extraordinary factors.

Eventually, after hundreds of experiments, I forcibly combined multiple extraordinary factors and observed a phenomenon that defied logic—the extraordinary factors neither bounced off like before nor exploded but merged together to form a material never seen before?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"Material? What does it look like?"

"Hard to describe," Richard said. "Firstly, it has no physical form; essentially, it is a mass of energy, which allows it to change shape at will. Moreover, it’s difficult to observe with the naked eye and requires special instruments to determine its location. Additionally, it has astonishing penetration capability, easily passing through any container wall without causing any damage. Only high-energy influences affect it but cannot completely constrain it; they can only roughly restrict its range.

Of course, that’s not the most important aspect. The most crucial aspect is that in subsequent research, this material reacts responsively and deliberately avoids capture by high-energy nets. Simply put, this is not merely a material; it’s a form of life with intelligence."

"Life?" Moli’s eyes widened involuntarily. Even as a Level 4 Wizard, she felt a chill run down her spine because what Richard described was too creepy, akin to a ghost story rather than research.

Life? An energy life form that’s difficult to observe with the naked eye?

Whether it was an illusion or not, she felt surrounded by hundreds or thousands of such life forms. In her imagination, these life forms probably resemble jellyfish, drifting through the air around her.

Richard smiled at Moli then asked, "Can you imagine? Initially, I wanted to study the fundamental components beyond extraordinary factors, but ended up creating a peculiar life form composed of extraordinary factors.

However, regardless, this is a major discovery. I named this life form ’Spirit’ and conducted numerous experiments, gathering a large amount of data. From the data, I can confirm that ’Spirit’ is magical, possessing a range of formidable extraordinary attributes. Understanding ’Spirit’ could definitely advance research in the field of extraordinary power."

"But what I didn’t expect was, on the ninth morning after the life form’s birth, after yet another test yielding data, something strange happened—the ’Spirit’ unexpectedly vanished under the constraints of a high-energy net, disappearing like water vapor from the ground, without a trace."

Richard paused before continuing, "I’ve considered many explanations for the disappearance of the ’Spirit’, but none are reasonable. Ultimately, I had to abandon these explanations and attempt to create a second ’Spirit’.

However, this is where things started to become abnormal. I attempted to recreate all the conditions of the first ’Spirit’ creation with identical values during the extraordinary factor combination experiment, but no ’Spirit’ was produced; all the extraordinary factors just bounced apart."

Then I attempted the third creation, the fourth, the fifth, the sixth... After over a hundred tries, all were unsuccessful. Eventually, I began to doubt whether ’Spirit’ ever existed without the vast recorded data as evidence.

Things reached a point where it became a deadlock. However, I didn’t easily give up, suspecting perhaps an error in the initial ’Spirit’ creation values, and continued experimenting with slightly adjusted values for hundreds more times. After all these attempts and still no new ’Spirit’ appeared, I concluded the research had hit a dead end.

To be honest, if not for one accidental discovery, this research might have been shelved, and I would have redirected my time and energy into other studies. Yet, it was due to that accident that I discovered new hope, leading to a series of breakthroughs in ’Spirit’ research."

"Accident?" Moli asked, looking at Richard with some confusion, "What accident?"

"You know it," Richard explained, "It’s the magic incident at Atlantis University’s Ninth Branch School, the Atlantis University of Magic and Mysticism over a year ago."

"That incident!" Moli’s eyebrows raised; she had personally been involved in handling that incident, with the result that the Ninth Branch only exists in rumors in Atlantis now. However, until now, she wasn’t aware of this backstory.

"Over a year ago, some students at the Mysticism College conducted an improved experiment under Wizard Moke’s guidance." Richard began speaking slowly, "Wizard Moke was transferred from the Magic Physics College to the Mysticism College. He had conducted high-energy magic physical research, and in the improved experiments, he utilized high-energy magic physics methods, which resulted in creating a ’Spirit’.

This ’Spirit’ differed in many ways from the first ’Spirit’ I produced—it was dozens of times larger and existed for only a few seconds before vanishing. Most importantly, unlike the gentle nature of the first ’Spirit’, this one was highly aggressive. It caused Wizard Moke to fall into a coma after an attack, severely traumatizing the spirits of dozens of participating students, and generating ongoing dark energy erosion, contaminating nearly the entire Mysticism College.

This necessitated a destructive cleanup of the entire college, resulting in significant loss. However, amid the damage, I noticed one thing—Wizard Moke’s experiment shared some similarities to my extraordinary factor combination experiment in high-energy magic physics, yet the details were entirely different. The fact that a ’Spirit’ could still be produced indicates that there is more than one condition for creating a ’Spirit’. Similar to how lower temperatures can liquefy gas, high pressure can equally achieve gas liquefaction."
