Chapter 1431: Chapter 1429: Project Dark Probe

"After confirming this point, I significantly altered various data aspects of the extraordinary factor fusion experiment. After a total of 1,827 tests, I generated another ’Spirit.’ I conducted approximately 60 hours of research on this third ’Spirit,’ and like the previous two, it vanished into thin air.

Afterwards, I continued to repeat the operation, and after 3,267 tests, I obtained the fourth ’Spirit.’ Then, after 926 tests, I obtained the fifth ’Spirit,’ and after 2,909 tests, I obtained the sixth ’Spirit.’

I improved the experimental process, greatly shortening the time for repeated experiments. Over the course of several months, after tens of thousands of tests, I discovered a total of thirteen ’Spirits.’ Some of these ’Spirits’ required over 9,000 tests to generate, while the least required only 121 tests.

The thirteen ’Spirits’ under my research each had different attributes. The only similarity was that they all had extremely high research value for extraordinary power, enabling me to see a higher-level world surpassing the extraordinary factor.

However, the scarcity and short existence of ’Spirits’ have consistently troubled me in furthering research, which is why I spent a great deal of time and effort attempting to find the correct method for generating ’Spirits.’

To this end, I established extremely complex equations into which all numerical values related to ’Spirit’ generation were input in an attempt to figure out the rules governing their generation. After this method failed, I thought perhaps some subtle external factors affected the ’Spirits.’ To shield these subtle factors, I began conducting experiments thousands of meters underground."

"Dark Exploration Project, right?" Moli interjected, her eyes flashed as she spoke. As the ruler of Shalin, overseeing large-scale civil engineering projects was naturally something she could not be unaware of. The truth is, many of these projects were under her supervision. As soon as Richard mentioned conducting experiments thousands of meters underground, she immediately guessed which one it was, given its incredibly odd name that was hard to forget.

Richard did not deny it, nodding as he said, "Yes, it is indeed the Dark Exploration Project. I spent a considerable amount of time there with the aim of figuring out how ’Spirits’ are generated and precisely what conditions relate to them. The reason it is called the Dark Exploration Project is due to its similarity to another group’s mysterious search for ’Dark Matter’ in my memory."

"Then ultimately, you achieved your goal, didn’t you?" Moli guessed, not believing there would be any variance in this matter.

But contrary to expectations, Richard chuckled lightly and shook his head, "However...not really."

"Not really?"

"Yes, not really," Richard’s expression was not one for joking, "In the base of the Dark Exploration Project, I tried every means possible to eliminate all possible influences and attempted to generate ’Spirits’. However, the four ’Spirits’ generated consecutively remained entirely irregular."

"So, after all that effort, the result was merely failure?" Moli looked at him with a peculiar expression.

"From that perspective at the time, that’s roughly the case," Richard didn’t argue, spreading his hands.

"Then as per your implication, there was a turning point afterward?"

"Not exactly a turning point, rather I engaged in reflection," Richard said, "I must admit, the failure of the Dark Exploration Project was somewhat a blow to me. Not just because of wasted time, effort, and resources, but more critically, it made me feel that perhaps it truly isn’t feasible to manufacture ’Spirits’ through fixed methods, and maybe when extraordinary power reaches a certain height, it becomes an unknowable, random thing.

However, upon further contemplation, perhaps I overcomplicated ordinary issues. ’Spirits’ appear to be generated through experiments involving extraordinary factors, but since no two conditions for generation are the same, could it be that the appearance of ’Spirits’ is not substantially related to the extraordinary factor fusion experiment?"

"What does that mean?" Moli originally felt close to catching up with Richard’s thought process but suddenly found herself lagging far behind again. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"It’s quite simple, I considered some matters wrong from the beginning," Richard extended a finger, "As I mentioned earlier, ’Spirits’ possess certain Wisdom in testing and belong to a type of Life. If it is life, it means it is living, then perhaps... ’Spirits’ were never created by my experiments. They existed all along, and during my experiments, I happened to discover them and capture them."

"Ah?" Moli looked confused.

"Let me put it this way," Richard thought for a moment and further explained, "’Spirit’ is a very special Extraordinary Life constantly surrounding us, but due to certain reasons, they do not influence us, much like two parallel worlds. During my extraordinary factor fusion experiments, high-energy reactions broke the boundary between these ’parallel worlds’, temporarily allowing these worlds to overlap at a node point.

If there’s no Spirit at the node, naturally nothing is captured, thus appearing as a failed test. Conversely, if there happens to be a ’Spirit’ at the node, I can capture it by chance, appearing as though I ’generated’ a Spirit. Since node overlap isn’t perpetual, after a certain period, the parallel worlds separate, and the Spirit is forcibly pulled back to the other ’world’, resulting in their disappearance without a trace in our ’world’.

"So besides our own world, there’s another world existing?" Moli questioned deeply with furrowed brows.

"Currently, I am uncertain whether another world truly exists, what I previously mentioned was merely metaphorical," Richard said, "However, without exception, ’Spirits’ exist within dimensions different from ours. If our world successfully connects with the dimension where ’Spirits’ reside, it would vastly expand, which is precisely why ’Spirits’ possess certain Extraordinary Attributes—most likely relating to some transformations of the physical laws."

"Different dimensions?" Moli blinked, refraining from speaking, she found herself being pulled further away as the conversation continued.

Richard didn’t mind, continuing according to his thoughts, "Actually, following my subsequent research, I found that dimensions are relatively stable in the area we live in, namely the land surface, and are not easily broken. However, in high altitudes where Void Energy influences, it is easier to generate overlapping nodes and connect with different dimensions.

In the depths of the Void, many places directly generate long-term overlapping nodes where numerous ’Spirits’ live around these nodes. These ’Spirits’ are quite powerful, and their Wisdom is strong, almost every one is on par with the ’Spirit’ involved in the Ninth Branch School incident. I call them ’Void Spirits’."
