Extra And MC-Chapter 113 - 109 - Award Ceremony Banquet - Prelude I
Currently exploring the bustling and opulently magnificent hallways of Arcana Academy in casual outfits and also garnering a crap ton of attention were Flynn and a young, brown-haired lady with big twinkling purple eyes sitting atop his shoulders with her legs dangling back and forth.
"She’s so cute!!!" a female cadet praised with a satisfied expression.
"What a picturesque sight" another female cadet walking side by side with the former added with a warm smile on her face as she watched Flynn’s warm smile and Briar who excitedly continued to dart her eyes around.
Along with Flynn and Briar were also many other cadets walking with their friends and families whom they hadn’t seen in the past month and a few days, jovial and elated chatters been exchanged between them.
To describe the current mood at the academy, it would be akin to a school festival currently happening as families and friends were given a pass to also explore the school grounds along with their wards.
"Wait a minute, wasn’t she also with them on the day of the entrance exams?" A male cadet who was a lesser noble and walking with his own father suddenly asked curiously.
"Apparently, that’s Briar Belmont…" the father answered with a thoughtful expression.
"Belmont??? No way! The Duke of the Belmont Family couldn’t have possibly giving birth to her out of wedlock right?!"
"Shhh son! That’s slander that could have your head lopped off you know!" the father sternly advised the son to which the youth gulped in fear.
After ensuring that his son got the message, the father then spoke again, a more relaxed expression on his face as he began to explain.
"Well I can’t blame you since you might’ve been mostly occupied with school stuff but she was actually adopted by the Belmont’s legally just a week after the entrance exams had happened. That’s all most of we nobles know about it though"
"I see…" the son muttered and soon enough, he and his dad began to discuss about more mundane things.
On the other hand, despite the increasing wave of attention they were getting, Flynn was having a pretty nice conversation with his younger sister.
"Wooowww!"
"Your school’s so beautiful Brother Flynn!" Briar gleefully said, her purple eyes twinkling with excitement.
"It sure is" Flynn replied to the young girl atop his shoulders, her hands gently holding onto his silvery-green hair and her legs crossed around his neck as he walked into the crowded student center.
People presently occupied the many free, ornate white benches that were usually quite scanty in the student center’s courtyard, taking in the beauty of the perfectly maintained gardens and the fountain which was currently spewing out water in a majestic display.
"Will I also get to come here?" Briar eagerly asked after admiring the exquisitely beautiful student center.
"Sure you will Briar. When the time comes…" Flynn replied with a gentle smile.
"So, I need to be as old as you before I can come?" the inquisitively curious young lady asked.
"Yep" Flynn calmly replied once again.
"Then I need to grow even faster!" Briar declared with a resolute expression on her cute little features, her purple eyes burning fiercely with determination and both of her hands placed on her waist.
’Talk about feisty…’ Flynn thought to himself with a chuckle.
"Yeah. You definitely got that trait from Ivelia…" he muttered to himself as he began to leave the student center.
"So Briar, ready to go greet Aiden, Ivelia and Ivar?" Flynn asked the young lady with a charming grin.
"Princess Caroline too!" the beautiful girl added as she also continued with an excited grin of her own.
"Let’s go! Onward Brother Flynn!" she finally responded enthusiastically, one of her hands slightly raised up into a pointed finger and facing forward.
Chuckling to himself once again as Briar kept treating him like her personal transport shuttle, Flynn began to head to Sector Two with a slow run.
It had been five days since Aiden and Flynn had cleared the fissure and after going through those past five hectic days of schooling, the Award Ceremony was now just a day away from today, which was Saturday.
During those five days though, an unexpected announcement had occurred, surprising the cadets greatly.
The announcement entailed how close friends and families of every enrolled cadet would be allowed to visit the academy, both prior to the day of the banquet itself and on the day of the Award Ceremony.
Although most cadets were unable to understand the reasoning behind such a sudden announcement from the Academy, they were nevertheless elated by the good news.
Flynn and Aiden on the other hand though, after thinking for a bit, had understood what the academy was trying to do.
You see, in the novel, close to the end of the first month of the academy, the Student Council along with other school officials involved with security, noticed that there were a few spies and intruders in the academy.
That was the only thing explained in the novel though, that there were spies that infiltrated the academy. However, the names of the organization’s spies were never mentioned.
Due to that, Flynn and Aiden currently had no idea that it was two of the deadliest dark organizations that had infiltrated the academy.
Now, spies infiltrating Arcana Academy wasn’t particularly a surprising thing in all fairness because it wasn’t the first time anything of such would be happening but, after finding out from some of the spies that they had caught that it wasn’t one, but two organizations, specifically Obelisk and The Monolith, that infiltrated at the same time, the academy’s officials became a bit wary.
They also didn’t have any idea what they were up to even after ’questioning’ the spies they had caught but considering how secretive said spies had been till the very end, they knew it couldn’t be anything good.
Although Arcana Academy guaranteed the future of their cadets by ensuring that no harm came to them until the end of their academic life, they were shrewd enough to know when to ask for help instead of trying to take care of it themselves like they usually would.
As a result, the Student Council had made a proposal to their Vice Dean, Senya Brunhildr, about how they should inform the Royal Family along with the Dukes and Duchesses of Arcadia about it, hoping to invite them and many other nobles to the academy under the pretext of a sudden festival that would be organized to distract the cadets and their guardians while they themselves took care of the intrusion that could’ve been supposedly destructive and life-threatening to the innocent cadets.
But now, due to Xavier previously asking Senya to shift the Award Ceremony to the end of the month, a sudden festival wasn’t necessary anymore and there was now also good pretext to invite the higher nobles of Arcadia to the Academy.
In the events of the novel though, the sudden festival had effectively done what it was supposed to do and had also prevented anything crazy from happening but there was no guarantee that things would turn out the same way now.

This was also the reason why Flynn had been able to snatch Briar away from his parents early this morning as soon as they had arrived along with the royal family and other higher noble families, all of them ready to discuss about a few urgent matters pertaining to the intrusion.
Unknown to Flynn though, as he was now currently about to leave the student center, the Vice Dean of their Academy kept staring at him, or more specifically, the girl atop his shoulders from the wide windowed panels of her office which was situated at the top floor of the campus’s main building and adjacent to the student center’s courtyard.
As she did, a warm smile graced her middle-aged features and her eyes looked fondly upon the young girl who was currently sporting an excited smile as Flynn ran slowly, her long brown hair fluttering in the wind.
’I’d never expected you to be entangled with them this time but fate really is a funny thing isn’t it Briar’ Senya thought to herself.
’Well, it’s nice that you don’t have to deal with any of our shenanigans’ she inwardly continued while adding a few more words.
’I think my sisters would also be quite happy that you’re growing up in such a normal environment’
’So keep growing splendidly alright’ she inwardly concluded with an even warmer smile.
-Knock knock!
Shaking her out of her inner monologues was a knock on her office door.
"The Royal Family along with the Dukes and Duchesses of the big noble families are now here" a male voice explained from outside and Senya immediately responded.
"Do let them in" Senya respectfully said with a polite smile as the door opened to reveal all the people who were now strolling into her office with poise, elegance and grace.
As this was happening, Flynn and Briar after a few minutes, had now finally reached their beautifully designed dorm.
"Will you take me flying again Brother Flynn?" Briar cheerily asked with expectation in her eyes as Flynn slowly descended onto the front lawn of their dorm from his slates.
"Sure I will" he promised while raising his pinky up with a smile as he asked.
"Pinky promise?"
"Pinky Promise!" Briar replied with a gleeful smile as she cuffed her tiny pinky across Flynn’s.
After that was done, Flynn slowly began walking toward the front door of his dorm as Briar inquisitively asked again with child-like curiosity.
"Why is your dorm so far away from the others?"
"Honestly Briar, I have no idea" Flynn truthfully responded as he moved close to the door, intent on turning the knob and entering.
Before he could though, he was hearing some unfamiliar voices from the other side of the door, along with a few familiar ones that shouldn’t be in their dorm.
Slightly tilting his head in a bit of confusion, Briar followed suit and also tilted hers to mirror Flynn’s even as she till sat atop his shoulders, hers due to being confused instead by her brother’s sudden action.
Upon opening the door however, Flynn couldn’t help but mutter as he stared at the chaotic state of the of their dorm’s living room.
"What in the world…"
