Extra Survival Guide to Overpowering Hero and Villain-Chapter 241: Myser City
"The license shows your level and rank," Liana explained. "Rank 2 for you. Rank 3 for me. Cities take that seriously."
She looked at him. "Especially someone like you. A Rank 2 with that control will get noticed fast."
Fenric sighed. "So attention again."
"Get used to it," she said. "Strength always comes with eyes watching."
They continued walking.
As the sun climbed higher, they passed other travelers—merchants with carts, hunters carrying monster parts, guards escorting goods.
No one bothered them.
By afternoon, distant stone walls appeared on the horizon.
Fenric squinted. "That’s Myser?"
"Outer walls," Liana confirmed. "Big city. Port-connected. Adventurer Guild branch is strong there."
Fenric adjusted the strap on his pack.
"So what happens first?"
Liana answered calmly. "Registration. Aura test. Combat verification if needed. Background check."
"And after that?"
She smiled slightly. "After that, you’re officially part of the world outside that village."
Fenric looked ahead at the city walls.
A new place.
New rules.
New dangers.
"...Alright," he said. "Let’s get my license."
They walked on, the road leading straight toward Myser City.
The road grew wider as they got closer.
Stone markers lined the path.
More people appeared—caravans, adventurers in mixed armor, sailors heading inland.
The walls of Myser City were tall and thick, built from gray stone. Watchtowers rose every few hundred meters. Blue flags marked with a wave symbol fluttered in the wind.
At the main gate, guards stood in pairs.
"State your purpose," one guard said as Fenric and Liana approached.
"Adventurer registration," Liana replied calmly. She showed her old badge.
The guard glanced at it, then looked at Fenric. "First time?"
"Yes," Fenric answered.
The guard nodded and stepped aside. "Adventurer Guild is straight ahead. Don’t cause trouble."
Inside the city, everything felt louder.
Voices.
Metal clanking.
Wagons rolling.
The smell of food, sea air, and oil mixed together.
Fenric looked around, alert but calm.
"Big," he said.
"This is medium-sized for Brak," Liana replied. "The capital is worse."
They followed the main road until a large building came into view.
A wide stone hall with a blue crest above the entrance.
Two crossed tools.
A sword and a staff.
"Adventurer Guild – Myser Branch."
Fenric stopped in front of it.
"So this is it."
"Yep," Liana said.
They entered.
The inside was crowded.
Groups argued over requests.
Others checked boards covered in papers.
Some were injured, wrapped in bandages.
A long counter stretched across the far wall.
Behind it stood guild staff in clean uniforms.
Liana led Fenric to an open desk.
"New registration," she said.
The staff woman nodded. "Name?"
"Fenric," he replied.
"Age?"
"Seventeen."
She raised an eyebrow but didn’t comment. "Place of origin?"
"Village near the western forest," Fenric said. "No formal record."
"That’s fine," she replied. "Step to the crystal."
A tall crystal pillar stood nearby.
Fenric placed his hand on it.
The crystal glowed.
Text appeared in the air.
Level: 71
Rank: 2
Aura Quality: High Bronze
Murmurs spread nearby.
The staff woman’s eyes sharpened slightly. "Rank 2 at your age..."
She cleared her throat. "Combat verification required."
Fenric nodded. "Understood."
"Follow the examiner," she said.
A guild fighter stepped forward. "This way."
Liana crossed her arms and smirked. "Told you. Attention already."
Fenric sighed quietly.
"Yeah," he said. "I figured."
They followed the examiner deeper into the guild, toward the testing grounds.
They walked through a wide hallway and into a large open arena.
Stone floor.
Reinforced walls.
Barrier runes glowing faintly around the edges.
Several guild members were already watching from the sides.
The examiner stopped in the center.
"Rules are simple," he said. "No killing blows. No hidden traps. Use whatever weapons you normally fight with."
Fenric nodded. "Understood."
The examiner looked at his file. "Rank 2 verification means you face a Rank 2 guild fighter. If you hold your ground, you pass."
A gate on the other side opened.
A man stepped out.
Medium armor.
Short sword.
Shield.
Calm eyes.
"Guild Fighter Aron," he said. "Level 74. Rank 2 mid."
Fenric noted the details immediately.
Slightly higher level.
Balanced build.
Aron looked Fenric over. "Young."
Fenric said nothing.
"Begin," the examiner ordered.
Aron moved first.
He advanced carefully, shield up, sword angled low.
Fenric stayed still.
He let his Aura flow lightly through his legs and arms.
Aron suddenly rushed forward and slashed.
Fenric stepped to the side by a small margin. The sword missed.
No wasted movement.
Fenric countered with a short Aura push from his palm.
Not strong.
Just enough.
It hit Aron’s shield and forced him back two steps.
Aron’s eyes narrowed.
He changed tactics and circled.
Fenric mirrored him.
They traded movements—testing, probing.
Aron lunged again, this time low.
Fenric jumped back, then stepped in close.
He tapped Aron’s shoulder with his hand.
Aura flared briefly.
Aron staggered.
Fenric stepped away immediately.
The examiner raised a hand.
"That’s enough."
Aron straightened, breathing hard.
"...Clean," he said. "You control your Aura well." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
The examiner nodded. "Verification passed."
Murmurs rose again.
Fenric relaxed slightly.
The examiner turned to the staff. "Issue Rank 2 license."
The staff woman wrote quickly.
She handed Fenric a metal card with a blue edge.
"Adventurer License," she said. "Valid across Brak and allied regions."
Fenric took it.
Liana smiled. "Congrats. You’re official now."
Fenric looked at the card once more.
"Such a small card has a lot of value," he said.
Liana nodded. "It does."
"Anyway," she continued, "you’ve started at the lowest adventurer rank—Grey Rank. It follows the same structure as Aura or mana purity ranks. Grey, then Bronze, then Silver, and so on."
Fenric nodded. "Makes sense."
She tapped the board nearby. "Until you rank up, you can only take Grey Rank tasks."
Fenric glanced at the request board.
Most of the papers were simple.
• Herb collection
• Monster scouting (low danger)
• Delivery between nearby villages
• Guard duty for caravans
"No big hunts yet," Fenric said.
"No," Liana agreed. "But this is where reputation starts. Mess up here and higher ranks won’t trust you later."
