Extra Survival Guide to Overpowering Hero and Villain-Chapter 250: Dungeon II
Rivergate was just as busy as before.
Boats moved slowly on the river.
Merchants shouted prices near the docks.
They went straight to the guild branch.
The same clerk looked up when they entered.
"You’re back already," she said.
"We cleared part of the outer area," Fenric replied.
Liana placed the dungeon core and the marked map on the counter.
"Two dungeon wolves and one dungeon bear," she said. "Second chamber has remains of low-rank adventurers."
The clerk’s expression turned serious.
She wrote everything down carefully.
"Thank you for the report," she said. "This helps a lot."
They received a small reward for the information.
Not much, but fair.
After that, they returned to the inn.
Fenric cleaned his bow again.
Liana checked her gear and made notes.
No injuries.
No exhaustion.
That evening, they ate quietly.
"How do you feel?" Liana asked.
"Stable," Fenric replied. "Silver Aura held without issue."
"That means tomorrow we can go a little deeper," she said.
"Carefully," Fenric answered. "One step at a time."
They rested early again.
The dungeon would still be there tomorrow.
The next morning, Fenric woke up early.
His body felt light.
His Aura moved smoothly.
No pain.
No pressure.
He met Liana downstairs.
She was already ready.
"Same plan?" Fenric asked.
"Yes," she said. "We go back, push a little deeper, and stop if anything feels wrong."
They ate a simple breakfast and packed their supplies.
Then they left Rivergate Town again.
The road south was familiar now.
Quiet and safe.
By midday, they reached the dungeon entrance.
Nothing had changed.
No new tracks.
No signs of activity.
They entered carefully.
The light stone at the entrance was still there.
"Good," Liana said. "No disturbance."
They moved through the first tunnel and the small chamber.
No wolves.
No sounds.
They passed the second chamber where the bear had fallen.
The body was gone.
Only dried blood remained.
"Dungeon absorbed it," Fenric said.
"That means it’s active," Liana replied.
They continued forward.
The next passage sloped down more sharply.
The air grew colder.
The pressure increased slightly.
Fenric slowed.
"This is deeper territory," he said.
Liana nodded. "We stay alert."
Soon, the tunnel opened into another room.
This one was wider.
Water dripped from the ceiling into shallow pools.
Something moved near the water.
Fenric raised his bow.
Three shapes crawled into view.
Dungeon lizards.
Low to the ground.
Hard scales.
Sharp teeth.
"Three," Fenric said.
"I’ll support," Liana replied.
The fight was quick.
Fenric dropped one with an arrow.
Liana struck the second from the side.
The third tried to flee, but Fenric finished it.
Silence returned.
They checked the room.
No hidden paths.
No larger threats.
They did not leave yet.
Fenric listened again.
Carefully.
Nothing moved.
"No response," he said. "We can go a bit farther."
Liana agreed. "Slow and steady."
They moved past the pools.
The floor became rough again.
The walls showed tool marks.
After a short walk, the tunnel split.
One path went down.
The other curved to the right.
Fenric checked the ground.
"Down path has fresh marks," he said. "Heavy."
Liana frowned. "Larger beast."
"We don’t go there today," Fenric said.
They took the right path.
The tunnel was longer and narrow.
Then it opened into a medium-sized chamber.
This room had broken crates.
Rotten cloth.
Old torches fixed to the walls.
"A rest point," Liana said. "Adventurers used this place."
Fenric nodded.
He felt the air.
"Something small lives here now," he said.
They moved carefully.
A sudden screech echoed.
From behind a crate, small creatures jumped out.
Dungeon rats.
Fast.
Sharp teeth.
Five of them.
Fenric stepped back and fired quickly.
Two fell.
Liana moved in and crushed another with her spear.
The last two tried to scatter.
Fenric caught one.
Liana finished the last.
Silence returned again.
Fenric relaxed his shoulders.
"Low threat," he said.
They searched the room.
No traps.
No hidden doors.
Only scraps and bones.
"This is a good stopping point," Liana said.
Fenric nodded.
"We rest for a moment, then move on," he said.
Liana agreed. "Short rest only."
They drank some water.
Checked their breathing.
Listened.
The dungeon stayed quiet.
After a few minutes, they moved again.
From the rest chamber, another tunnel led forward.
This one sloped slightly upward.
The air felt drier.
Fenric walked first.
After a short distance, he raised his hand.
"Smell that?" he asked.
Liana nodded. "Iron. And blood. Old."
They slowed down.
The tunnel opened into a long hall.
Stone tiles covered the floor.
Many were cracked.
Some were stained dark.
Bones were scattered along the sides.
Most were animal.
A few were human.
Fenric tightened his grip on the bow.
"This area sees more fighting," he said.
They moved along the wall.
Halfway through the hall, something shifted.
A low scraping sound came from ahead.
Two shapes dragged themselves into view.
Dungeon crawlers.
Long bodies.
Six legs.
Hard shells.
"Armor type," Fenric said. "Aim for joints."
"I’ll pin one," Liana replied.
The first crawler rushed forward.
Fenric fired.
The arrow hit a leg joint.
The creature fell sideways.
Liana rushed in and drove her spear through its head.
The second crawler circled wide.
Fenric drew again and fired twice.
The second arrow pierced under its shell.
It twitched, then stopped.
Silence returned.
Fenric listened.
Nothing else moved.
They approached the bodies.
"Shell quality is decent," Liana said. "Good material."
They took what they could and moved on.
At the end of the hall, the dungeon opened again. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
This chamber was larger than the others.
Broken stone statues stood along the walls.
Most were shattered.
Only legs and torsos remained.
Fenric felt a stronger pressure here.
"Deeper zone," he said.
Liana nodded. "But still controlled."
In the center of the chamber, something breathed.
Slow.
Heavy.
A large shape rose from behind the broken statues.
Dungeon boar.
Wide body.
Thick hide.
Long tusks.
It snorted and scraped the ground.
"One," Fenric said.
"Strong, but not fast," Liana replied.
The boar charged.
Fenric fired.
The arrow struck its shoulder.
Not deep enough.
Liana moved to the side, avoiding the tusks.
She stabbed into its flank.
Wind Aura cut through the hide.
The boar screamed and turned.
Fenric fired again.
This arrow hit the neck.
The boar staggered.
Liana finished it with a clean thrust to the head.
The body fell heavily.
Fenric exhaled.
"No follow-up," he said after listening.
They waited.
Ten seconds.
Twenty.
Nothing came.
They collected the core.
