Extra's Descent-Chapter 381: Turning Point 3.0 [6]
Rafael Asami had finally started showing response a few days back.
For that reason, Locke Enterprise took him to a hospital, placing him in their care under a mysterious benefactor.
Of course, the hospital was already aware of the identity, but was under a hush compliance.
In any case.
December 30, 2149.
"How are you feeling, Sir Asami?"
"Never been better, Haha."
Rafael Asami was currently under rehab. A nurse was helping him walk, while Brandon stood on the side with his arms crossed.
After the rehab, Rafael Asami was brought back to his hospital room and laid on the bed.
"Good work today, Sir Asami."
The nurse said before exiting the room, leaving Brandon and Rafael to their own devices.
In the past few days as Rafael finally started responding, Brandon had been speaking to him everyday.
But unfortunately, Rafael seemed to be suffering from Amnesia.
—I can see them…. But…. I can't see them….
Brandon recalled his words. Apparently, he had the memories, but they were all a mess, and quite frankly, it seemed like he couldn't recognize any of his daughter's faces.
But he was aware he did indeed have daughters.
"Do you want to see them?"
Brandon asked. Rafael remained silent for a bit, seemingly pondering as he stared blankly at the ceiling.
Truth be told, his condition was getting better physically, and while his previous abilities were gone, being strong wasn't all that defined a person.
He had a family to return to.
Brandon was unsure about the current state of affairs with his wife, but for his daughters, Brandon was sure of it.
They missed him.
"Do I…. have that right?"
"...."
Brandon's brows raised at his response.
Did he have the right?
While he could barely remember things, the lingering feelings of guilt were still there.
But Brandon knew exactly how to respond.
"Does a father need a reason to want to see his family?"

After a business meeting, Rachel suddenly got a call from the hospital.
—A relative wants to see you.
A relative?
Rachel found herself perplexed. She had cut off most of her ties with her Ashfield relatives, and from what she knew, she didn't have any relatives from her late father's side.
So, Rachel only had one conclusion.
"They probably need money…."
In particular, the Ashfields.
After her grandfather's death, as the eldest daughter, and according to her late grandfather's will, all assets and subsidiaries went under her name, and not her mother's.
At first, her mother was furious. But Rachel gave her no chance to retort.

During half of the year, her relationship with her mother was sour.
But Rachel wasn't all too heartless.
She was secretly supporting her mother despite everything that happened.
But secret….
"Haaa…. Amy."
Amy was too much of a blabbermouth and revealed everything to their mother.
A few months passed, and she had managed to rekindle her relationship with her mother somewhat.
But it was not to the point where they could say they were close.
But still.
They were getting there.
Hopefully.
It was still somewhat awkward.
In any case, her mother didn't need to work, and her two daughters were supporting her every whim.
Why wouldn't she submit to it, when everything was basically for free?
She may have sounded like a free–loader in Rachel's mind.
But a mother…. was still a mother.
Rachel had only found out recently that her mother started working at a part–time job, particularly, a coffee shop to decrease the load off her daughters.
And secretly?
Rachel bought shares for the company.
All to support the increase in her mother's salary.
It was that kind of relationship.
In any case, if her conjectures were proven to be true, and it was indeed an Ashfield in need of financial help to pay for her medical bills….
"How shameless…."
It was all she could say.
She didn't even plan on supporting them.
But still, she wanted to meet them.
Just to stomp on their faces after how much they backtalked her in the past.
In any case.
She arrived.
The moment she did, there was a familiar face that arrived before her, standing by the receptionist.
"Amy?"
It was Amy.
Immediately, her brows furrowed. They even called Amy? How shameless could they get!?
Rachel clenched her fist.
"Ah, Rachel? Why are you here?"
But her anger quickly subsided as Amy turned around, giving her an innocent look.
Her younger twin sister.
Everything Rachel had been doing thus far was to protect her innocent little sister.
And now?
She was being dragged into this?
Rachel couldn't stand it.
"I got a call."
"You too?"
"Yes, have you found out what it was about?"
Rachel asked as she stood by Amy's side.
"The doctors are being vague about it. They said to wait for one more person, and they'll take us to the room."
"Huh?"
Rachel's brows raised. One more person? Who the hell did the Ashfields call this ti—
"Rachel, Amy?"
All of a sudden, a female voice rang out from the entrance. A voice the two girls were all too familiar with as they turned around.
"Mom?"
It was their mother, Samantha Ashfield.
And now.
"Mom…."
Rachel blew a fuse.
They even called her mother, who was lying low after everything that had happened, living her own life quietly, away from the business side of things, away from the Ashfields.
"I see everyone is here."
Before Rachel could voice out her complaints, the doctor approached them.
"Why were we called here?"
Amy asked, and Samantha made her way to their side. Their mother glanced at her two daughters, and eventually gave Rachel a smile.
Rachel returned the smile, then turned away, still feeling quite bashful, unsure of how to actually communicate with her mother.
"Follow me."
The doctor quickly led them to the elevator, then took them to a peculiar room.
A VIP room.
Now, things had gotten quite confusing.
If whoever Ashfield relative was inside the VIP room, then why were they called?
'So they didn't need financial help?'
In any case, her questions would soon be resolved as soon as they stepped inside the room.
"Do be gentle with the patient. He's only gotten better recently. Try not to startle him too much."
"Ah?"
"Recently?
"Who?"
He?
Who was 'he?'
Ba… Thump!
For some unknown reason, Rachel's heart began to quicken.
It felt like she was expecting something, but afraid of disappointments, Rachel quickly pushed down her thoughts.
Once they entered the room….
"...."
"...."
"...."
They were completely petrified, unable to believe the sight that greeted them.
"Hello…. Are you people…. my family?"
There, he sat on his hospital bed, adorning a hospital gown.
Blonde hair that looked strikingly similar to Amy's. Crimson eyes that deeply reflected the two girl's eyes.
A face Rachel could never forget.
No, a face Rachel, Amy, and Samantha could never forget.
"Dad…."
"D-Dad…?"
"...."
While the two girls mouthed out their thoughts, Samantha's breath seemed to have stuck in her lungs, gasping as she covered her mouth.
It was a miracle.
They couldn't fathom how this could happen as they stood frozen.
But regardless, despite the incomprehensible fact that Rachel's father was alive….
Drip.
The tears started trickling down.

Brandon outside the room's entrance, crossing his arms.
He could hear the family's heartwarming reunion, and the occasional sobs and breakdowns that followed.
"Looks like it was a success."
He smiled.
"Happy New Year, Rachel."
After whispering those words, Brandon left the hospital.
