Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch-Chapter 42: First Incident (6)

Noah looked around, trying to observe his surroundings carefully.

There were a few small buildings here. Some were broken, while a few were still in decent condition.

’That guy... he must be here. Hiding somewhere and watching. If my guess is right... he will show himself when the main characters kill that monster, thinking they are safe now...’ Noah thought.

He then turned toward Regnar and Draven.

"Listen. We will do a simple thing... go around these buildings, shops, and corners... and try to find any suspicious person. He might be wearing an academy staff uniform or even student clothes... but if you find someone doubtful... who looks relaxed... then quietly get away from him and come back to this place again."

Mobiles were not working. Noah had already tried earlier, so they couldn’t contact each other from far away.

"We will meet each other in the same place in 15 minutes. If you come early after seeing someone suspicious... if the battle there is ended by then... just tell it to Damien," Noah said.

Both Draven and Regnar looked at each other, then nodded.

The three of them split up.

Noah decided to look at the same side of the road where they were currently. Draven went to the opposite side, while Regnar went back in the direction from where the three of them had come earlier.

While walking, Noah thought,

Hope I won’t meet that guy... let one of those two meet him. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Noah then entered the building beside him.

It was a burger shop.

Inside, most things were scattered everywhere. Tables had fallen on the ground along with chairs. The counter was messy, and trays, cups, and bottles were lying all over the floor. It looked like the people inside had run away in a hurry when the attack started.

Noah walked slowly inside, looking around carefully.

His footsteps made light sounds on the broken glass and plastic lying on the floor.

He checked behind the counter first. Then he checked the kitchen area. The stove was still slightly warm, and half-cooked patties were still on the pan. Someone had definitely left in a hurry.

He opened the storage room door slowly.

Creeeak...

The door made a low sound as it opened.

Noah immediately held his spear tighter and looked inside.

There were boxes of buns, sauces, vegetables, and meat stored inside. Everything looked normal. No one was hiding there.

He closed the door again and sighed slightly.

"Nothing here..."

He got out and went to another shop beside it.

He then walked toward the stairs at the back of the shop that led to the upper floor.

He moved slowly and quietly, trying not to make too much noise.

Step by step, he climbed the stairs.

When he reached the top, he saw a small office room and a staff resting area with a few lockers and a sofa.

One locker door was open, and clothes were half hanging out of it.

Again, it looked like someone had left in a hurry.

Noah walked inside and checked if there was anything, even some suspicious-looking thing.

But he found nothing.

After checking everything, he stood near the window and looked outside.

From here, he could see the open lawn area in the distance where Damien and the others were still fighting the giant monster. Flashes of light, fire, wind, and explosions were visible from here.

BOOM!

The monster was too injured. The fight would end soon.

’They are still fighting... That monster is really tough,’ Noah thought.

Most students and others had run in the direction of the main academy building.

’But... they might not be able to get out. They must have remained hidden in different corners.’

Noah looked above. The sky was clear.

No help had come till now.

Then his expression slowly became serious again.

’If I were the mastermind behind this... I would hide somewhere high... where I could see the whole battlefield... and wait for the right moment...’

Noah slowly turned his head and looked at the buildings around.

Some buildings had second floors. Some had rooftops. Some had broken walls and empty windows.

’Yeah... if I were him... I would watch everything from above,’Noah thought.

He then left the room and quickly went down the stairs again.

"I should check the rooftops..." he muttered quietly to himself.

Noah stepped out of the shop and looked at the surrounding buildings again, his eyes slowly scanning the windows, rooftops, and shadows between the buildings.

He checked another one. But found nothing.

Somewhere nearby, the real enemy might be watching everything and waiting for the right moment to appear.

After walking in a straight direction, he saw a tall building. It was a cake shop. Having first floor and terrace on it. Mostly the upper floor was for the resting area of the staff. Above it was a terrace area. Some part of it was broken.

The building size was larger compared to others.

’Let’s check that one.’

The moment Noah stepped inside, the scent of blood hit him.

He frowned.

Walking forward, he saw two or three academy students dead inside the shop.

"...Many students died..." He walked forward, not willing to look at them. Their faces were disfigured by the claws of the monster, bloodied and not recognizable.

The tables and chairs were thrown on the floor. Some were broken.

Near the counter, another two dead bodies were lying. Their necks were cut with some sharp blade. Fresh blood was leaking out from them.

Noah stopped at that. He got closer to those figures.

Unlike those three dead bodies, these didn’t look like someone who were killed by a monster...

"They... were killed by a person."

Noah gripped his spear tightly. His expression turned serious. He started to check the ground floor and inside rooms.

But there was no one present. He looked up... towards the upper floor.

"Maybe up..."

Noah walked toward the stairs and started to climb them. On the first floor, there were two room. Just an office room and a resting place.

Nothing suspicious. No one was here. Everything was calm.

One corner of the resting room was destroyed. The walls were broken.

After that, he went to another set of stairs that led up to the terrace area.

Noah slowly, step by step, walked.

His heartbeat faster.

As much as he was curious to see, he was also afraid to meet the person who did this.

He reached the door of the terrace which was slightly open.

Noah gulped down his saliva and peeked through the space.

’Fuck!’

He cursed inside.

His luck was really bad. There were two more people who were searching for enemy.

But why it has to be him?

’Was it because I am a transmigrator? Fuck!’

There was actually a figure standing at the edge of the terrace, looking at the ongoing battle between Damien’s team and monster.
