Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch-Chapter 53: End of The First Incident (4)
The moment Noah beheaded Petrick’s body.
Somewhere away from Novaris Academy.
In the same Novaris city, inside a room of a small hotel, lay a man on a single bed. The curtains of the room were closed and the lights were off.
The man lay motionless.
His fingers twitched. His eyelids shook as he slowly opened his eyes. His black eyes stared at the ceiling lazily.
The man pushed himself upright. His dark brown hair was messy. Sweat dripped from his forehead slowly. The man looked around; he was in his late thirties.
His right hand moved to his neck, slowly running over it. "I could still feel that pain on my neck."
He put his legs on the floor while sitting at the edge of the bed and stretched his body. "Damien... that boy was really something else. I need to inform about this to Malv— I mean boss... I should give respect to that old man. hehe~" He chuckled, then muttered.
"Damien is really dangerous talent. Able to kill a peak D rank monster by himself... and that monster was not normal. It was strong enough to kill Rank C monsters. I specially caught him for them." He talked to himself with a small smile.
"...and that boy with white hair... who was he? I didn’t ask his name. Haha! He was interesting. I have to kill him in future."
"For now, let’s inform Boss."
The man took out his mobile, then called a private number.
Soon it was picked up from the other side.
---
The battle was over.
The mist had subsided in the air.
Some distance away, Arisha sat on the ground without caring about anything. After all, they finally killed him.
While Regnar leaned against the broken building, wounds all over his body, he still had a satisfied face.
Draven lay on the road while looking up at the sky motionlessly. He muttered in a low voice, "Good job... Noah." He was not in better condition either. Wounds all over his body. Cuts on his hands and a big wound on his knees. Blood was still streaming down from them onto the ground.
Just away from him sat Damien. His sword fell on the road. Both hands were behind him on either side to support his body from not falling onto the road.
Noah, meanwhile, remained standing near the dead body, still standing with the support of his spear. Blood dripped from his hand and cuts all over his body. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Finally, he was able to kill Petrick.
"I-I kill...." He blinked dazedly. In the matter of survival, he didn’t even think that it was his first kill. That he had never killed anyone before. Not just him, but even the old Noah had never killed any human before.
The thought that he was going to kill someone never entered his mind. If that was not enough, the way he killed Petrick was kind of brutal in his eyes. The blood was splattered around like a fountain, painting the surroundings.
His heart started to beat faster. His breathing became ragged. His vision was getting blurry.
He couldn’t tell why he was feeling like this. Was it because the realization that he killed someone came to him? Or was it because he lost so much blood and was exhausted?
He knew that the man was controlling the body of a worker named Petrick. What if Petrick was alive and innocent in this? The man behind all of this was not dead, but Petrick was dead. By the hands of Noah.
Noah gazed at the head of Petrick, which still had a smile on his face.
Soon a smile broke on Noah’s face. ’It doesn’t matter... I survived..’ The smile came because he was still able to beat that man. Land a last hit on him. Even though he was using someone else’s body, he was feeling pain each time he got hit by a strong strike.
So Noah felt nice about that. About landing the last hit on him. He shook his head and tried to push unnecessary thoughts away.
"You okay, Noah?" Damien asked from his side with a smile. "You did a good job, man."
Noah smiled at him while nodding. "Yeah... I guess I did... no... We did a good job." He closed his eyes for a second. He was on verge of loosing consciousness. He kepy them closer for a while, then opened them only to find himself in another place.
"What the hell? Where am I?" he muttered in a low voice.
Noah looked around to see what was there.
Everywhere was empty space. There was no ground and no light.
Darkness stretched in every direction. It felt like he was floating, yet he could feel something beneath his feet. Or maybe he couldn’t. He wasn’t sure.
The silence was terrifying.
There was no wind. He couldn’t hear anything or see anything. Just darkness.
A strange fear crawled over his body like cold insects moving under his skin. His heartbeat started to increase.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
The sound of his own heartbeat echoed in that empty darkness, making him even more uneasy.
"W-Where is this place...?" he whispered again, but even his voice sounded strange, as if the darkness swallowed the sound before it could travel.
He started walking slowly, looking around carefully, but no matter how much he walked, nothing changed. The darkness remained the same in every direction.
His heartbeat became faster.
Thump-thump.
Thump-thump.
Thump-thump.
Then suddenly a huge wave of hot wind slammed into his face.
WHOOSH!
Noah stumbled back a step, raising his arm to cover his face. The wind was hot, like air coming from a furnace, and it carried a strange metallic smell.
It smelled like blood.
Noah slowly lowered his arm and looked toward the direction from where the hot wind had come.
At first, he saw nothing.
But then two enormous blood-red eyes opened in the darkness.
They were gigantic, far larger than any creature’s eyes should be. Each eye was like a giant crimson moon floating in the void. Black vertical slit pupils stared directly at Noah.
The moment Noah’s eyes met those red eyes, a terrifying pressure fell on him. His body froze instantly. He couldn’t move nor could he breathe.
Then pain came. Intense, unbearable pain shot through his entire body as if millions of needles were piercing him from inside.
"AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!" Noah screamed loudly in pain, his eyes wide open.
It felt like his bones were being crushed, his veins were being torn apart, and his organs were being squeezed by invisible hands.
Blood started streaming down from his eyes, then from his nose, then from his mouth.
His vision started shaking violently, but those red eyes remained clear in front of him, staring at him without blinking.
The pressure increased.
Tiny cracks began appearing on Noah’s skin, like glass about to shatter. From them blood started to leak.
"AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!" he screamed again, his voice breaking.
His arms started breaking apart as blood splattered from them. Then his chest. And then his legs.
His entire body began to shatter.
The cracks spread everywhere across his body. He tried to move. Tried to scream. Tried to look away from those eyes. But he just couldn’t move.
The red eyes kept staring at him.
They were cold, ancient, and terrifying.
His body completely shattered into small pieces of flesh.
