Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch-Chapter 55: Sweet Reward
Noah slowly walked towards the washroom, holding his side slightly because his body still ached from the injuries. Each step reminded him of the battle, the wounds, the exhaustion, and the blood he had lost. π§πβ―β―π€β―π£πβ΄πππ.ππ°π
He pushed the washroom door open and entered.
The bright white light inside made him squint his eyes for a moment. The room was quiet and clean. White tiles covered the walls and floor. A long mirror was fixed above the basins, and the faint smell of disinfectant filled the air.
He walked to one of the urinals and relieved himself. After finishing, he moved towards the basin and turned on the tap.
Cold water flowed out.
He splashed water on his face once.
Then again. Then did it again.
He kept washing his face many times with cold water, as if trying to wash away something more than just sweat and dirt.
Finally, he stopped and sighed deeply. He slowly looked up at the mirror. His face stared back at him.
His face was still handsome as ever, though there were a few small bandages here and there. His blue eyes looked slightly tired, but they were still sharp.
But he was still not fully calm.
It was not the incident or killing another person that shook him.
It was the memory of that dream.
Every time he thought about those eyes, fear crawled over his body unknowingly. His heart would start beating faster, and a strange cold feeling would spread through his chest.
He placed both hands on the basin and lowered his head for a moment.
"Calm down... it was just a dream..." he muttered to himself.
But even he didnβt believe that completely. Then he slowly raised his head again.
There was another reason why he came here. He looked at the blue translucent screen floating in front of him.
It was written on it.
[If you are awake, click Yes]
There was only a Yes option.
Earlier, he was so afraid and confused that he didnβt even think much about it. But now he was alone here, and the lights were bright.
He stared at the screen for a few seconds. Then he raised his hand and touched Yes. The moment he touched it, the screen flickered slightly.
Then the same kind of text he had seen in the hospital appeared in front of him.
After touching Yes, another text appeared.
[Congratulations, Noah Eldritch, an extra has survived the first Act of Chapter 1: The Puppet]
[For surviving this incident and even contributing and killing the main villain of this act, you will be getting a Five-Star Manual for Weapon Art. It is an ancient sword art related to ice affinity users]
A martial manual was like a legacy left behind by a strong ancient figure. Everything they learned or created about that art, condensed into writing so the next generation can inherit their art style.
Finding one is like finding a dead legendβs entire lifetime of knowledge sitting in your hands.
Manuals...or more like martial manuals were separated into five grades, From one start to five star.
There were many manuals which are created by heroes or adventures of this times as well. Though most of them were from one star to three star.
So Noahβs eyes widened slightly as he read everything.
Then he read further.
[While since you did not just survive but killed the main villain, you will be getting a bonus reward. As an ice creation ability user who can create anything and use different weapons during a fight, you are bestowed with a new profession. You wonβt be seeing your other professions on your status window anymore.]
[Combatant - Level 1]
Soon he felt a slight pain all over his body, but just for a second. It felt like light lightning roaming over his body. His muscles twitched slightly, and he felt something change inside his body.
An information came to inside him.
βA person who specializes in combat and multiple weapons.β
Then suddenly, an ice-blue colored book appeared in midair in front of him.
Noah instinctively caught it. The screen showed one last line.
[Enjoy your reward. Bye Extra. See you next time if you survive]
Then the screen disappeared.
Noah blinked.
Everything had happened too fast. He looked at the thin book in his hand. It was very thin and cold to the touch, almost like it was made of ice.
He opened the book, which was sword art manual. Inside, the pages were black.
Only a few words were written on the first page.
Frozen Lotus Blade Art
Under that, it was written.
To learn this, just put mana inside it.
Noah stared at the book for a moment.
βThatβs...easy..β He did as it was written.
He slowly poured a small amount of mana into the book.
The moment he did that, the book began to glow in a soft light blue hue.
Then suddenly the book turned into tiny particles of blue light and flew straight into Noahβs forehead.
"Aghβ!"
A sharp pain shot through his head. He immediately fell on his rear on the washroom floor.
Thud.
And then grabbed his head tightly.
The pain was intense, like someone was forcing huge amounts of information into his brain.
"Gah-!" He was going to scream again. But stopped as he bit his forearm tightly so his scream wouldnβt come out.
His teeth sank into his skin, and blood started coming out, but he didnβt care.
After a few minutes of sharp pain, it slowly started to subside.
Breathing heavily, he slowly released his forearm. Blood streamed from the bite mark.
He gasped for air while rubbing his head.
Unknown knowledge of the sword art was now inside his brain. Movements, stances, techniques, mana flow, sword paths, everything appeared in his mind like memories that were always there.
He cursed under his breath, "This damn thing..."
But then a small smile appeared on his face as he tried to understand the sword art.
Slowly, that small smile turned wider.
His face looked almost crazy as he realized how strong this sword art was. It was extremely powerful and clearly a very high-rank sword art.
Then he also received information about his Combatant profession. The more he understood it, the wider his smile became.
And then Nah started laughing loudly inside the washroom.
"HAHAHAHAHA!"
He was very happy for getting those rewards. That he forgot about that dream altogether.
---
Outside the washroom, in the infirmary, Damien, Regnar, Arisha, and Lyria all looked towards the washroom direction after hearing faint laughter.
Damien slowly raised an eyebrow. Regnar frowned slightly. Lyria looked confused.
Arisha blinked once, then said in a calm voice, "Is he gone mad? Oh my... I hope God could help him."
