Reeva backed off into a defensive position, his demi form tense and ready. He had to buy time—surely the commotion would bring other knights soon—but for now, it was just him, the priest, and Gurang, who was growing weaker by the second. The priest’s focus was entirely on trying to heal Gurang, but the knife lodged near the knight’s heart made it difficult, and the process was agonizingly slow.

Reeva’s eyes darted between the broken door and the priest. He could see the struggle in the priest’s face. The divine healing was powerful but slow, and with the knife still embedded in Gurang’s chest, pulling it out risked more damage than it might save.

Reeva had to be ready for whatever came next.

His mind flashed back to the training he’d received in mobile prison, especially Hilda’s lessons on knife fighting. Though his demi form granted him enhanced abilities, his stance was awkward, trying to mimic techniques he remembered from his old life—Muay Thai stances from videos he’d seen. It felt unnatural, but it was all he had.

Hilda’s knife training could only be applied to a knife and he wouldn’t want to train his sloppy technique in a life-or-death situation. Ideally, he would go for it if there weren’t injured people that he had to protect.

HE tried to copy a Muay Thai stance but failed miserably so he defaulted to the random stage like before.

Suddenly, the door burst open, splinters of wood flying everywhere. Reeva shielded his face with his arms, peering through the debris. A figure emerged—swift and deadly. A woman with white hair, dressed in what could only be described as a "fantasy assassin" outfit. Her movements were fluid and dangerous.

Reeva’s eyes darted to the now-shattered door. Something felt off—he couldn’t quite place it, but the way the wood splintered, the way she moved—there was something that felt off about this whole situation but Reeva couldn’t place his finger on why.

In a heartbeat, she scanned the hallway and made her move—heading straight for the priest.

Reeva’s heart pounded as the assassin threw a knife. The priest barely had time to react, jerking his head just enough for the blade to slice his ear instead of piercing his eye. Baroowly avoids his demise.

He cried out in pain, clutching the side of his head as blood streamed down his cheek. For a moment, the priest froze, the shock of the wound overwhelming him. But he quickly snapped back to reality. They were all going to die if he didn’t act fast.

With a desperate decision, the priest chose to speed up his healing, trading time for pain. His hand glowed with a pale, fiery yellow, the divine power burning hotter than before.

Gurang groaned in agony as the wound began to close rapidly, the healing accelerated beyond normal limits. Both the priest and Gurang tried to pull the knife free, but it was lodged too deeply. The only thing he could get out was his hand that had blocked it earlier.

Gurang, regaining just enough strength, gritted his teeth and used his free hand to yank the knife out, wincing in pain. But it was not enough the accelerated healing caused his skin to close too quickly. The knife was out, but part of it was still stuck—its edge fused with Gurang’s flesh. The knight gasped in shock, his face pale but determined.

Reeva shifted his stance, his eyes never leaving the assassin. She hadn’t stopped moving, and now, with the priest wounded and the knight only partially healed, she was preparing for her next attack. Reeva could feel the tension building—this wasn’t going to end without a fight.

"AGhh!"

The knight groaned. It felt like millions of ants were crawling all over his wound. But in seconds, the severe injury healed and sealed itself, the only blood left being what had already leaked out.

Gurang wanted to thank the priest, but there was no time. The knife that had been thrown at the priest wasn’t the only one, and the person who threw it was fast approaching.

Drawing his sword, the blade clashed with the next knife. This time, it was the woman’s strength colliding with the weapon. But the moment it struck, both Reeva and the knight realized something was wrong.

There was no sound.

After the knife passed through the door, her movements were silent. That’s why, despite being a trained knight, Gurang was ambushed so easily. But realizing this fact has done nothing since the season is already out in the open.

Reeva glanced at the scene. If he weren’t an apostle, he would’ve fled. The knight seemed capable enough to handle the threat. But Reeva was an apostle of the Sun Church. Maybe he owed them something.

The sword and knife continued to clash without a sound. But Gurung had adapted. His discipline and training paid off, as he began gaining ground in the fight. The ambush had failed, and now the knight, with his armor and sword, had the upper hand over the assassin in flexible leather.

The assassin, realizing she would likely lose, searched for an opening. The knight was good, but his condition wasn’t perfect. That could be her advantage. She focused her efforts, aiming for the weak spot where her knife had already managed to slice through his armor.

Gurang quickly caught on to her plan and guarded against it. It was as if his life depended on defending his heart — because if she landed that hit, it might. The assassin was relentless, throwing every trick she had at him.

But the knight was patient and disciplined. She faked several openings, hoping to lure him in, but he didn’t take the bait. The fight had come to a standstill — neither side gaining the upper hand, both locked in a delicate balance.

This was when Reeva decided to act. He stepped in from behind, throwing a punch with mystic force building in his hand, ready to unleash it on the assassin.
