"Cardinal!"

The saintess yelled out, she was as surprised as Reeva when she saw the cardinal. Sanchez looked as if he was sleepless.

"Hello. Lucy, how have you been"

"It’s fine... but why is sir Sanchez here?"

Usually, the big wig of the church such as Cardinal Sanchez won’t be available half of the time. They are often seen praying to the sun god to maintain order.

"I’m here to finish the job, however, Nena beat me to it so this time I’m taking over. The pope had judged that this problem was out of your hand... until it wasn’t, I hate that his divination could be wrong sometimes..."

The event was big and the divine power required was high. There’s bound to be a mistake somewhere when doing such a grand divination, even the pope himself didn’t have a guarantee when it came to this kind of event.

"Boy, can you tell me where the mother is?"

"I have a last known location after I spoke with the sun god"

"I’ll bring you along then," Sanchez said, his voice feeling a bit tired "However I needed a bit of rest, We will set off in the morning... Before that, I needed some sleep.."

After saying that Cardinal Sanchez flopped on the sleeping bag inside Reeva’s tent.

"....."

"....."

Both Lucy and Reeva were speechless. Cardinal Sanchez’s antics were out of their expectations. Reeva’s first impression was that he was a strict guy who was the pope’s right-hand man. But now, he reminded himself when Reeva was still working in the company, after thinking that he felt a little empathy for the man.

"Could you arrange another tent for me?"

"We’ll get someone who’s on this shift to do it"

---------------

The morning was not like any other Egul had ever experienced. They fought with vines for a bit before the vines retreated. Egul felt like they could easily be surrounded but for whatever reason the vines stopped. However, he’s still on high alert for an entire day and only settles down at night getting into a cave that Egul rested before. After that, the day finally came.

Now they’re staring up the steep peaks of the Carmel.

It was big and tall like she expected, but one couldn’t appreciate how big something was when they viewed it from afar. Now that Hilda had seen this she could say that this was the most impressive natural thing she had ever seen.

"Are we climbing that?"

Theia was a bit scared. The mountain looked so tall and imposing, it gave a sense of danger even from down here.

"How did you even get up there for the first time?"

Hilda heard that story from Egul and couldn’t help but be curious. The peak was taller than anything he had ever seen.

"Lots of falling and catching myself," Egul said, his mind thinking back to when he was young "But you need not worry with my power it would be super easy now"

He already wrapped all of them in a thin layer of ice. Then he produced a rope from his bag and tied it around all of them.

"Don’t worry if you fall, however, you need to be pulling your weight. From here we need to scale with outer hands"

They were standing on the side of a mountain and as they looked up, they couldn’t help but gulp. If not for Egul’s power, they wouldn’t even think of scaling such a steep and tall mountain. Egul must have been a monster of a man to scale this without his power back then.

"I’ll go first and Hilda will go last. the ice armor will protect you from most things but we have to renew it once in a while so we will do a check-up every hour. and hopefully no grey vine will follow us up there."

Egul was confident he could beat it on the mountainside, however fighting there would be hard for him. If he waited for the vines to show up, then they would be wasting time. The tribes needed him and the poison that Atahn had.

He gave everyone room to think about breathing. Then he started the climb, his hand gripped onto the rock at the side of the mountain. It was as hard as he remember, but this time he was far better at climbing.

Theia followed Egul up the mountain, her hand shaking a bit every time he advanced. Then Athan followed her up there and lastly, Hilda was behind all of them to defend against something unexpected.

Theia’s hand shook a bit after he gained some height. She looked at Egul above her and looked past that man, she could only see the tall place she had to climb. Luckily the rock formation was not that difficult to gribbed.

However, when she looked down, her heart rate shot up. She could imagine how her body was splatted when she fell.

"Don’t look down"

Egul cautioned her. He had sensed the shaking and the halting of her movement and could deduce that she was scared. Theia felt a bit safer hearing Egul’s words. She did as the big guy said and looked only up.

"Don’t fill yourself with the thought of failure, otherwise it might come true"

Egul said, continuing to scale up the mountain with ease. Theia felt more motivated and grasped the rock with a firmer hand. Athan however didn’t really care about such a thing, even if he fell he would just need to climb again.

Hilda was afraid, but her training set in and she became calm. They had been training to scale buildings as maid assassins for the house Antores. if you were afraid of heights, you’d just be a typical worrier. However, at this height, he may have felt a little afraid.

As they climbed, Theia got a bit better at controlling herself and after an hour Egul stopped on a ledge. Theia felt a wave of relief as she was pulled up by Egul to safety.
