"What... the"

Holen couldn’t help but gasp when he saw what was on the other side. Half of himself expected this place to just outright kill him but to his surprise, his body was still intact.

A second later a person appeared beside him, it was Kanku who flopped on the floor.

"What the hell.... woah..."

Kanku was equally surprised when he saw the place. Another person followed soon. Oven and Jell also flopped on the floor, their reaction was the exact same. The room that they were put in was far more bigger than a normal room, like more than ten times larger than normal people.

"Run!"

Holen however snapped out of it first. If all of them appeared in here then the vines must be appearing soon. after he said this, the other also realized this fact and began running too. They didn’t know the direction but they ran to some ruin that looked like it could be a cover.

A second later something appeared from the place where they were at. Grey vines materialize out of thin air, they wiggle around for a bit before they withered away just a moment later.

"It dies?"

Before anyone could answer Oven, the vines suddenly appeared again but this time, it didn’t wither away. Jell caught a glimpse of a green gem that appeared first then the vines followed.

"No, it did not!"

The group continued to run further and further away from the vines. However, something didn’t feel right, they didn’t hear the vines, and Holen got curious and looked back. Then he saw it, the vines didn’t pursue them anymore. His eyes squeeze together and stop his movement.

"Look"

At first the other didn’t know why but when they followed Holen’s gaze they also saw that the vines didn’t pursue them anymore. They also halted and looked at the vines.

"They stop? Why?"

Kanku didn’t believe it at first, the vine even found an opening in the mountainside to follow them. So the vine that couldn’t find them here came as a surprise to them.

"I don’t know but we better get out of here"

Holen said after lingering for a bit, vines spread themselves around trying to find the people. However, Holen, the knights, and Kanku had already moved far away.

"Why did it stop? What even is it?"

"I don’t know...."

All of them haven’t seen such a monster before. A moving vine that couldn’t be killed. Just this trip alone they had already encountered far more mystic things than they had their entire life.

"So... how do we get back?"

It’s a miracle that they’re alive, entering a portal into the spirit realm. Looking around the spirit realm, they felt like this place was far more... dead than they expected.

"Is this place really the spirit realm?"

Jell couldn’t help but ask because as far as he saw, the place didn’t look exactly like a spirit realm to him. In the sun god’s words, the afterlife that was promised to the follower was an eternity with him.

This place looked like just a big old building. Far from the description that the priest and believer share around.

"I don’t know... I thought it would be more hellish.."

From Oven’s imagination, the spirit realm looked like fire and suffering. This item was from one of the two main beliefs about an afterlife. Some believe that it was hell to punish the sinner. The sun god would burn those who deserved it for eternity.

And another a serene place where the soul was able to rest in endless bliss.

"Neither did it look like a serene place.

"This is not the time to talk about this, we need to get out of here"

As always, messing with the mystic was not safe. The faster they left, the better their lives. However, at that moment something tugged at his mind.

If this was the spirit realm there was a chance that he might encounter his dead friends...

However, that was a farfetched idea. How would he encounter his friend in this place? Not to mention the large palace that they were walking on.

"Yea..."

Holen started looking around the rubble, this place was weirder than he imagined. To begin with, the whole rubble seemed to be from a very big table that got broken.

He tried to pick up the wooden piece on the ground and discovered that it was very heavy. He put more strength into his arm but no matter how much he put in, the piece of wood wouldn’t even move.

"Didn’t think that the best detective was this weak" Oven looked over and mocked the detective.

"No... try it" Holen gasped for air after trying to pull the wooden piece off the ground. The wood wasn’t even that big and he himself was not that weak so, he would like Oven to try.

Oven scoffed, he didn’t think much about it and put his hand over the piece of wood. It’s so small that he could fit it in his palm. Oven grabbed the whole piece and tried to pull it.

"!?"

Everyone had their eyes widened after observing Oven pull. He got progressively put more and more power into the piece of wood. Everyone around could see that Oven was not pulling his punch. He even used his legs to push against the ground giving himself more power.

But despite all that, the piece of wood didn’t move at all.

"Wow never thought that you were as weak as the best detective"

Jell said teasing. He half-joking because he knew there must be something wrong with a piece of wood. Oven glared at him a bit.

"Try it"

Oven took his hand off the piece of wood and let Jell try it. Of course, the knight also tried it and got the same result. No one was able to move the piece of wood.

"Let me try!"

Kanku offered himself but, after just one second, he gave up. It was not something he could move. They all felt perplexed, a doubt started to creep in for some of them when they couldn’t move just a piece of wood. So they tried out more pieces of wood and discovered that they couldn’t lift it still.

"We couldn’t move anything here?"

"Seem there’ a condition or this thing was just so heavy"

"...."

Oven refused to believe that he was as weak as Holen tried to pick up just one piece of wood there. However even just a tiny piece couldn’t be moved, there must be something wrong with this place.

"Yeah, I think this thing couldn’t be moved..."

"We don’t know..."

Tch...

A sound of wood moving came from the front. Everyone there looked at each other and quietly made their way to the rubble that formed itself into a decent hiding spot. Their head peeked out to survey what was going on.

Then they saw it. A one-eyed monster walking among the rubble. It had two legs and two arms protruding out of its body. However, the most terrifying part of this monster was the fact that it could move that super heavy rubble with no issue.

They hold their breath, not wanting the moster to discover them. If they could move the rubble then that monster must be immensely powerful.

The mother looked around but did not seem to notice them. Then the monster moved past them and headed in a certain direction. Holen’s eyes followed the moster and discovered that the monster was actually heading to the vines.

This is good

An opportunity to eradicate the vines. They watched the fight that was about to likely ensue. The mother walked up to the vines and screech at it. The vine however answered the aggression with its own.

Its differnt tendril shot forward trying to hurt the one eye but to the vine’s surprise, the one eye was not fazed by the attack and brushed it off like it was nothing.

The vines continue to assault the monster but with no luck. However, something changed the vine attack started hurting the one eye moster. The calm look on its eyes now transformed into fury when the vines surrounded it.

The monster tried to exert some thought but ultimately the vines successfully surrounded the monster, limiting its movement. Then after the vines engulfed the monster, it started to twist.

The moster transformed into something weird, it screamed pain the more its body twisted. The people watching felt terror when they saw what the vin could do.

The scream became more and more violent as time passed and at some point, the screaming stopped. The one-eyed monster was already dead.

Oven felt a mix of emotions. He thought that the one-eye monster would win this fight, however, the vines were able to dispatch it very quickly.

However, something was bugging him about this interaction. He must be missing something because when he fought with the vines, he was able to hold them back for several seconds. If the vines were far more powerful than the one-eyed monster that could move the piece of wood that he couldn’t then he must be missing something.

A condition to interact with this place.

"Holen..."

"I know"

The detective also had the same thought, he saw and even fought a bit with the vines so he knew that it was not that durable. So there must be a reason why it could take down that monster.
