Fake dating my enemy, The playboy billionaire-Chapter 105: That’s just where all your personality gets stored.
YIREN’S POV
"Kai!" I call out, running toward him. His face lights up as he opens his arms, pulling me into a warm, squeezing hug. His familiar scent, a mix of spices and warmth, wraps around me like home.
"I’m sorry I didn’t come to see you and Ning for three days," I say, guilt edging my voice. "Got really busy."
This is the longest I’ve gone without seeing them since moving back. Normally, I’m at the hospital every other day.
Kai smiles, brushing it off. "Not your fault. I told Jun to keep you busy."
My brows furrow, and I spin around. Sure enough, Jun stands behind me, holding his ears in an exaggerated apology.
Kai turns me back around, his arm over my shoulder. "Come on, look around. What do you think?"
My breath catches as I take in the scene before me. The space is alive with chatter and excitement, filled with food influencers and social media stars, snapping photos and sharing videos. Plates of colorful dishes pass by, waiters carrying dishes, each more mouthwatering than the last.
"I—I’m out of words," I stammer, my voice barely above a whisper.
When Jun mentioned there’d be a surprise, this was not what I expected. This is Kai and Ning’s restaurant! It’s the opening ceremony!
My chest swells with emotion. The cozy space, the buzz of excitement, the way Kai looks so proud—it’s everything I never imagined but everything I know they deserve.
"So that’s why you’ve asked me for Mom’s journals and been messaging me with countless doubts!" I exclaim, resting my head on his arm.
"Yeah, I’ve been doing secret trials. I wanted to do this for you, Ning, and the baby."
"The old owner of this place passed away three years ago, and the restaurant’s been closed ever since. So, I contacted his son in New York to see if he was willing to lease it to me," Kai explains. "And... Mr. Feng helped me finalize the deal."
I glance at Jun, and he winks, sliding a folded handkerchief into my hand. My throat tightens, and I dab the corner of my eyes as they fill with tears.
"Thank you," I mouth, overwhelmed by the kindness and support he’s shown Kai and Ning.
But of course, Jun has to ruin the moment. "But, Kai, how could you not let our Renren design this place? Or were you scared she’d turn it into a haunted house?"
I elbow him sharply in the ribs. "Meanie."
Kai chuckles, shaking his head. "I would’ve loved to, but honestly, I was tight on budget. After spending a big chunk of the funds I received on the lease, hiring staff, and other miscellaneous expenses, I had to cut back somewhere."
I squeeze his hand. "You did the right thing, Kai. I get it. Startups are tough, especially in the beginning."
He squeezes back.
"You watch over the guests. I’m taking her to the surprise," Jun says, his arms already looping around my waist as he ushers me toward the stairs, leaving Kai behind.
"This isn’t the surprise?" I ask, glancing back at the lively restaurant.
"Nope."
"What else could possibly be better than this?"
"You guess."
"Um... food? Mom’s recipes are out of this world."
He chuckles, "Once a foodie, always a foodie." His eyes rake over me playfully. "But seriously, where does all that food go?"
I squeeze the small bit of softness around my stomach. "Here."
Jun snorts. "Seriously? That’s not fat. That’s just where all your personality gets stored. And I love it."
I roll my eyes. "Says the man with a Greek god’s body."
A memory flashes between us, and we both laugh at the same time.
"You’re way too good for my ego," he says, shaking his head. "Will you say that in front of my brothers? I’m always jealous of their six-packs."
He pats his stomach dramatically. "And I have just four."
I poke at his abs—or his "four-pack." "But are they as flexible as you? Can they—"
Jun presses his palm over my mouth, his cheeks faintly tinged pink. "Don’t you dare finish that sentence, bunny." his lips twitch with suppressed amusement.
But it’s true. His body isn’t built from endless hours at the gym like most guys—it’s from animal flow exercises and calisthenics. And let me tell you, watching him do those flows? It’s hotter than any six-pack could ever be.
I peel his hand off my mouth, grinning. "What? I was just saying your body is a work of art. A flexible, awe-inspiring masterpiece, laced with power that thrusts--"
"Renren!"
"Yes, Juju?"
"You’re impossible. Please, I don’t want to get a boner here."
I stick out my tongue out at him as we continue up the stairs. Whatever this surprise is, it better be worth all this teasing.
The moment Jun pushes open the door, my breath catches, and my eyes immediately fill with tears.
"Ning," She’s sitting on the couch, surrounded by Jun’s family. It’s the first time I’ve seen her out of bed since the accident.
She opens her arms wide, inviting me in.
I’m frozen in place, but then Jun’s voice snaps me out of it. "Kai and Ning wanted to surprise you. They never told you she’s already able to walk and talk with support. This was all them."
I run to her, my arms wrapping tightly around her. It’s been too long since I’ve held her.
She squeezes me back, her voice dropping to a playful whisper in my ear. "I need all the juicy details about you and Jun. Are you keeping me in the loop, or am I going to have to pry it out of you?"
I chuckle softly, pulling back to meet her mischievous gaze. "You will never change, will you?"
"Not even a little," she says, smirking. "My calculation was right about him being a ravishing beast in bed?"
I blink, utterly caught off guard. "Ning, stop!" But her face practically screams, I’m not letting this go.
"Look at the blush! Fine, but later you are telling me everything."
"Keep dreaming."
Jun places a hand on the low of my back, making circles on my bare back with his thumb, sending a jolt of goosebumps through me. "Let’s sit down and order food."
