Chapter 64: He is bullying my woman

Standing in the kitchen with a mug of my muddy coffee, I’m replaying the last night’s scene in my head. The mind-blowing kiss. The way Yiren melted into my arms, clutching onto me, her body moulded so perfectly against mine as if she’s made just for me—it’s a memory that won’t stop tormenting me.

She strolls into the kitchen dressed to kill: a body-hugging dress in white that highlights every curve, hair perfectly styled, and lips painted a sinful, striking red. Damn. My gut tightens, and my heart pounds a little faster. It’s impossible not to remember how those lips tasted, divine. How she responded to my touch. Her little moans.

I expected something to happen between us eventually as the tension was simmering at a dangerous speed, but the way she kissed me back, equally hungry and fierce, gave me more courage than I needed. She wants me as much I want her.

Watching her holding onto me as she melts into my arms is the sexiest thing I’ve ever experienced.

I like her. I really do. Especially when she wears those devil’s horns and argues with me, challenging me at every turn. I know I’ve sworn off casual flings, but something about Yiren makes me want to break that rule, despite the risks. Maybe it’s fate pushing us together. I don’t know. But for now, I’m going with my gut and diving headfirst into this dangerous territory. Only time will tell where it leads.

"Morning,"

"Morning." She keeps her gaze down on her phone, her expression unreadable, but then she walks over, her back facing me. "Can you zip me up?"

I put my coffee down and step closer. "Sure." My knuckles brush deliberately against the smooth skin of her back as I tug the zipper upward, and I feel her shiver under my touch. Last night, after our heated kiss and naughty arrangement, I watched her sneak into the bathroom with one of her battery-operated boyfriends, trying her best to be discreet. She doesn’t know I ended up doing the same, taking a long cold shower and using my hand in the guest bathroom.

I slide my cup of coffee over to her. "You made it?" she asks.

I pull out the stool at the counter for her to sit. "Thought you’d be nervous, so a little coffee and your favorite Spanish omelet seemed like the perfect way to kick-start your morning."

"Nervous is an understatement. I’m a total train wreck right now." She takes a sip of the coffee but scowls at the breakfast.

"So, no breaky?"

"Don’t want to puke on myself and embarrass in front of your elite M&A team. Any idea who’s going to interview me? Got any tips? Wanna share some inside info?"

I check my watch, "Nope, nope, and nope. But you’ll do great. I have complete confidence in you."

"Easy for you to say when you’re the boss."

I shrug, already heading toward the bedroom. "Listen, just wait for me thirty minutes. We’ll leave together."

She groans, glancing at the time. "I’ll be late!"

"No team at Feng Enterprises conducts interviews this early," I reassure her. "Take a deep breath, bunny. I’ll be back in thirty."

"Take the day off. Your shoulder--"

"If only you had let me last night you would have known this is nothing."

Yiren is a complete wreck during the car ride. Her knees bounce anxiously, she fiddles with every button she can find on the dashboard, and even manages to irritate Bear by squeezing him too tightly in her embrace. I drop her off two blocks away from the office, as she requested. She doesn’t want anyone to know she arrived with me, and I respect that. In fact, it only makes me admire her more.

Bear dashes out of the elevator the moment the doors open on my floor, heading straight for Ireine, who always has a treat waiting for him. But what I don’t expect is to find Jianyu sitting in my office.

"What are you doing here?"

He leans back in my chair, completely at ease. "Why? Can’t I visit your office?"

Technically, he can. The company is as much his as it is mine. But Jianyu showing up in my office is always fishy. He only ever does it when he wants to bust my ass or when there’s something big going down. I hang up my jacket, keeping my eyes on my older brother. He’s made it his life’s mission to give me back all the shit I once gave him.

"Don’t give me that look," he said, smirking. "I have an important meeting."

I raised an eyebrow. "What meeting?"

"A potential investment opportunity," he replied, his tone cryptic. Before I could press him further, the intercom buzzed. Ireine’s voice came through, but Jianyu was quicker.

"Send her in," he said, not even letting Ireine finish.

What the hell was going on? I got my answer soon enough when Yiren walked in, clutching a folder and her VR setup. Oh, come on!

He’s here to listen to her pitch? Seriously? This feels like a triple PhD expert interrogating a toddler about rocket science. The nerve of that man. This was his "important meeting"? An investment opportunity? My glare could probably melt steel right now, but Jianyu, lounging back with an infuriatingly calm expression, is grating on my nerves.

He is bullying my woman.

Um.... Not my woman. But my fake girlfriend.

Whatever. No one can bully her under my watch.

Not even my brother.

"Miss Mu, please have a seat," he says, his tone polite but commanding. "I’ve come specifically to hear your proposal."

Yiren’s eyes flick to me for just a split second, and I try to telepathically scream I had no clue about this ambush. Her lips press into a thin line, but she doesn’t waver. Instead, she gives a confident nod, setting up her equipment like the badass I know she is.

Meanwhile, I’m a nervous train wreck now. Jianyu’s ruthless business acumen and sky-high standards are legendary. He’s the kind of person who makes seasoned executives sweat buckets. People have literally cried under his pressure, including me, and now he’s turned that intensity on Yiren, who is barely taking her first step into business.

I quickly message MeiMei. If anyone can leash this monster, it’s her.
