Falling For My Accidental CEO Husband-Chapter 285: Believe That
Chapter 285: Believe That
"Do you really believe that?"
Serena shook her head at her own self, as she thought back to the question that Aiden had asked her before stepping away from her... No. She didn’t believe it—not for a single moment—that Aiden Hawk had truly wanted to kill her. Though she had no idea why she trusted him so much. Or maybe she trusted herself to not be a fool and fall for someone who would not love her back
But then, how had she ended up on that cliff, barely clinging to life? If not him, then who? And why? Because he was the only one who would profit the most from her death.
According to her brother, all the evidence pointed directly at Aiden. Every trail led back to him. Even his own sister—though still trapped in a drug-induced sleep—would likely say the same if she could speak. It was almost as if the truth had already been decided for her, neatly packaged and handed over, whether she wanted to accept it or not. And she did not want to accept it. She wanted to return and investigate herself, who her enemies were.
She had already made it clear to Dale her dear over protective brother that she wanted to return and face things head-on rather than let the world continue believing she was dead. But Dale, stubborn as ever, refused to let that happen. He insisted on protecting her, on keeping her hidden, as if shielding her from the truth would somehow erase the danger.
However, now, as she sat back inside Luca’s restuarant, watching Dale eat, dare she tell Dale that Aiden had already found them?
That was intriguing as well. If Aiden had truly intended to harm her, he would never have revealed himself so easily. Based on their two theories, he would have only two possible motives for doing so—either to remove her as an obstacle and marry his first love or to seize full control of Nvidia for himself.
The wedding ring on his finger was undeniable proof—he had already married his love. The realization settled heavily in her chest, and though she didn’t understand why, the thought of him belonging to another woman made her stomach twist with an unfamiliar, burning sensation. Even now, the memory of his warm breath ghosting over her skin and the way his fingers had gently caressed her face lingered, sending a dull ache through her heart.
If he had truly loved her, why had he married someone else? The painful question gnawed at her, and the only possible answer was one she dreaded—perhaps he had never loved her at all.
And if that was the case, then his first supposed motive for harming her had already been fulfilled. There was no reason for him to seek her out or even care whether she was alive or dead. That left only one logical conclusion—his true objective had always been Nvidia. Now that he knew she was alive, it was entirely possible that he would see her as an obstacle standing in his way. And if that were true, then he might very well be after her life.
Dale’s voice cut through her thoughts, bringing her back to the present. "I know for certain now—Aiden isn’t the one who tried to have you killed," he said firmly,
Serena blinked, caught off guard. "What? How did you know? Did his sister wake up?"
Dale shook his head and said, "No. But I met someone just now who has evidence about the real culprits. Once I have the evidence, I will be taking care of this unfinished business.
She frowned. "What do you mean?"
"I’m going back," he said, his expression dark and resolute. "Whoever dared to harm you is going to learn exactly what happens when they cross the line."
Serena scoffed. "I don’t need you to fight my battles, Dale. I can take my own revenge. Just let me return."
Dale shook his head. "Not this time. You stay here and focus on recovering. Let me handle this."
She exhaled sharply, annoyed by his overprotectiveness but too preoccupied to argue.
She shrugged, looking away. "Do whatever you want."
The entirety of her thought process was focused on Aiden, on the ring on his finger, and the lingering warmth of his touch.
Dale Brown studied his sister with narrowed eyes, immediately noticing the distant look in her gaze. She was distracted—lost in thought, her mind clearly elsewhere.
He hesitated, weighing his next words carefully. Should he tell her the truth? That Aiden had somehow found his way here? That he had been the one to bring forth all the evidence, willingly offering it up for her to see? The information lingered on the tip of his tongue, but something held him back.
Dale exhaled slowly, his jaw tightening. No. Not yet. It was better to wait—at least until he had examined the evidence himself. For now, he would keep it to himself.
While the two siblings remained lost in their own thoughts, an entirely different storm was brewing inside the kitchen. frёewebηovel.cѳm
Luca stood stiffly by the counter, his arms crossed tightly over his chest, seething as he glared daggers at Aiden. The man had not only stepped into his kitchen uninvited but had completely taken over the stove, as if he owned the place. The audacity of it all made Luca’s blood boil, but that wasn’t even the worst part.
He could barely wrap his head around what he had just heard. His best friend’s words echoed in his mind, each syllable more absurd than the last.
Serena—the same girl Luca had wanted to seduce—was already Aiden’s wife?
His grip tightened against the edge of the counter as disbelief warred with frustration. How the hell had he not known? And what was she doing here, eating his food when she should have been on a honeymoon with Aiden. And why was he following his wife here, half way around the world. Sigh! It was all too complicated...
