Falling for the Omega Idol-Chapter 201: SCHEMING MIRAE
"AREN’T you going to say a proper goodbye to Seojun-ssi?" Mirae asked, his voice soft and encouraging. "I’m sure he’s waiting for you. He’d probably want to talk to you one last time before you go."
Choi Yujin looked to where Seojun was standing one more time and a sad smile appeared on his lips. "I want to, but... he might be angry with me."
Mirae felt a strong urge to roll his eyes. So now, of all times, this guy suddenly developed a sense of self-awareness? After he had spent weeks stubbornly clinging to Han Seojun’s side? But of course, Mirae was careful to keep this reaction completely off his face. He made sure his expression remained one of gentle understanding.
"Oh, I doubt that. He’s so kind and gentlemanly," to a nauseating degree. "You were his teammate. I’m sure he’d want to say a proper goodbye."
Yujin’s face lit up with excitement at Mirae’s words, but the look quickly faded fast into clear hesitation. This shift only infuriated Mirae further. He was already annoyed he had to put in this much effort. But he had already started this performance, and he wasn’t about to let it go to waste. He forced himself to stay patient. He glanced over to where Seojun was and saw where the other was walking to. He smiled inwardly at the sight.
"Look, he seems to be coming this way," he continued, forcing an excited and encouraging tone into his voice, the kind you’d use when you were happy for a friend.
Yujin glanced back. When he saw that Seojun really seemed to walk towards them, his heart gave a hard, hopeful thud. Maybe Seojun wasn’t angry with him after all. Yeah, how could he be angry? They shared a special connection. There was no way he’d be angry at him.
But then, after a few more steps, Seojun turned in a different direction. Instead of continuing towards Yujin, he walked right up and stopped in front of Kang Haneul.
The hope in Yujin’s chest collapsed. The air felt like it had been punched out of him. He stared at the two figures standing together, and a raw, aching pain spread through his whole body. It was a sharp, hot feeling that made it hard to breathe. He wanted to look away but he could not move his eyes. The sounds in the room became a dull, distant noise as all he could focus on was the sight of the two.
Seeing Yujin’s petrified expression, Mirae almost let out a chuckle. It’s good that Han Seojun couldn’t stop himself from going over to Kang Haneul. Now Mirae’s job had just gotten a lot easier.
"Oh... I- I thought he would..." Mirae began, putting surprise into his voice, then he switched to sounding apologetic. After that he tried to sound energetic, as if he was trying to cheer Yujin up. "Ah! Seojun-ssi might just have something to say to Haneul-ssi. I’m sure he’ll approach you later."
He saw how Yujin’s face darkened, as well as how his hands curled into tight fists. Just a little more and he was sure the other would reach his limit. And Mirae knew just what to say to make that happen.
"It’s so strange when you think about it," Mirae murmured, as if to himself. His voice was low, making sure that only Yujin would hear it. Of course, he also made sure that he angled his face in a way that the cameras wouldn’t be able to capture what he’s saying. It would be bad for him if one of the audience read his lips. "For a dominant Alpha like him to be that taken with a recessive Omega." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Yujin stood there feeling completely sad and hopeless. This sadness was slowly mixing with a new, hotter feeling of anger and irritation. But then he heard Mirae’s quiet words. The second he understood them, that building irritation was gone. In its place was a sudden, complete rage that filled him up completely.
His head snapped toward Mirae. "What did you just say? He’s a what?"
Mirae pretended he had not meant to speak those words out loud. His eyes widened slightly, and he looked down for a second as if he felt bad. He tried to put a guilty expression on his face.
"I — I said I think, um, that you should still try to say goodbye," he said in a way like he’s trying his best to change the subject.
Yujin’s ears were ringing. It didn’t matter He didn’t need Mirae’s confirmation, anyway. His mind had already latched onto the information the other said and refused to let it go. The idea that Haneul was a recessive Omega was now fixed in his thoughts.
He looked to where Seojun was, smiling happily at Kang Haneul. His eyes grew dark and his jaw clenched tight. How could that guy dare to do this? A recessive Omega was trying to be with a dominant Alpha? The sheer nerve of it. That delusional nobody.
The dark anger in his chest turned into a red haze over his vision. Without another thought, his feet started moving. He walked straight toward the spot where that b*tch was standing.
When Mirae saw Yujin leave, he also backed away. He made it look like their conversation had ended naturally. He went over to some other contestants he was ’close’ to, but he still kept watching what Yujin would do from the corner of his eye.
What he’d said about Kang Haneul being a recessive Omega was, of course, a lie. In a way, he didn’t even know if the other was dominant or recessive. It’s not like that’s public knowledge, and any person with a decent amount of brain cells wouldn’t just announce that to anyone. Especially someone planning to be an idol. He’d just made it up to rile up Yujin. But, seriously, with Kang Haneul’s face, there’s no way he’s a recessive. But the good thing was that Yujin was stupid, so he’d readily believed Mirae’s lie.
He watched with a gleeful expression on his face as Yujin approached Kang Haneul.
