Chapter 738: Chapter 737: You Actually Look Down on the Mayor

Everyone in the Mitchell family was stunned. No one had expected the man who walked in to be the Mayor.

Molly Harguez sat dumbfounded, staring at the middle-aged man, her face darkening. She never thought her casual words would offend a mayor. It was unimaginable, terrifying.

"What’s wrong?" the Mayor asked his wife, puzzled about what had just happened.

"Nothing. It’s just this family. They’re too annoying, constantly making a fuss, and they even argued with me," the Mayor’s wife said, shooting Molly Harguez a disdainful look. She’d never met such a hateful person.

The Mayor glanced towards Nia Mitchell, then at Aldy Mitchell lying in the hospital bed, before his gaze finally settled on Molly Harguez.

"This is a hospital. Can’t you show some decorum?" A look of disdain was on the Mayor’s face. This family doesn’t look like much, he thought. They don’t seem wealthy, so they probably don’t have any power either. He was the Mayor of D City, a man of esteemed status. Who on earth were these people? How dare they make such a racket in a hospital?

"I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry. It’s the children; they’re ignorant and caused this disturbance," Molly Harguez suddenly said, her expression apologetic.

The moment she said this, not only Nia Mitchell and her father but even the Mayor’s wife frowned. To think she’d push all the blame onto a child.

The Mayor shifted his gaze to Nia Mitchell. "What are you making such a fuss about?" His mother was recuperating here, and the hospital’s VIP ward hadn’t been freed up yet. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"Is the Mayor always so quick to judge without knowing the facts?" Nia Mitchell had spent a lot of time with Maxwell Peary, and her courage had naturally grown considerably. Why would she be afraid of a mere mayor? Her gaze was unflinching as she looked directly at him.

The Mayor was visibly taken aback; he hadn’t expected her to have such courage. "What’s your name?" Why did he feel that this young girl before him wasn’t so simple?

"Does my name have anything to do with you?" Nia Mitchell retorted, not giving him any face.

"I’m so sorry, Mr. Mayor. The child is ignorant. Her name is Nia Mitchell," Molly Harguez said, her face fraught with worry. She looked at the Mayor timidly and cautiously, terrified of making a mistake.

"Nia Mitchell?" The Mayor ignored Molly Harguez and walked directly up to Nia Mitchell.

"That’s right, my name is Nia Mitchell. So what?" Nia Mitchell admitted frankly, not taking the Mayor seriously at all.

"You seem... to look down on me," the Mayor said suddenly. Due to the height difference, he had to lower his head slightly to look at Nia Mitchell.

"Not at all. How could I possibly look down on the esteemed Mayor?" This was the Mayor, after all. Did she even have the capital to look down on him?

"Hmph! I hope you’ll all show some class and not bring shame upon D City." The Mayor instantly schooled his expression, turned, and walked over to a chair by the adjacent bed, sitting down.

Just then, the ward door was pushed open. The Hospital Director walked in, a look of panic on his face. When he saw the Mayor sitting there, his face immediately broke into a smile.

"Mr. Mayor." The Hospital Director nodded and bowed, his expression quite peculiar.

"Is the VIP ward ready?" the Mayor asked, still seated, glaring at the Hospital Director.

"Ready, ready, it’s all ready! We can move your mother over right now," the Hospital Director immediately replied, his face wreathed in smiles.
