Chapter 878: Chapter 887: Sweetness (6)

He couldn’t quite explain what he liked about her.

But somehow, every move she made, every smile and frown, tugged at his heart.

He gently kissed her little face and said warmly, "Go wash your face, we should be leaving soon."

"Okay." Qiao Mo nodded and got up from him.

Fu Nancheng looked at the bowl of medicine in front of him, his eyes deep and somber, and finally picked it up to throw it away.

"Hey...you..."

Qiao Mo stopped him, "I...maybe...maybe I should try drinking it for a couple of days."

Qiao Mo’s voice was small, like a mosquito’s, laced with anxiety and unease, but he heard it clearly.

He gazed at her silently, and after a long pause, spoke gently, "Xiao Mo, don’t force yourself because of me. Like you said, we already have Chenchen."

Qiao Mo shook her head; honestly...she, too, longed for a child of their own.

It’s not that she didn’t love Chenchen enough, but she always felt that for a woman, if she can’t have a child with the man she loves, it’s ultimately a regret in life.

Qiao Mo said no more, took the bowl of medicine from him, eyed its dark potion, took a deep breath, and gulped it down.

Fu Nancheng watched her, lost in thought, but quickly came back to himself.

He asked Nanny Wang to bring some preserved fruits upstairs.

Just as she finished the bowl of medicine, Nanny Wang jogged up, and Fu Nancheng popped a preserved fruit into her mouth, "How is it? Still bitter?"

Bitter...horribly bitter...

The bitterness made her almost want to vomit involuntarily.

But she raised her eyes to meet his worried gaze, took a few bites of the preserved fruit, swallowed it, and shook her head at him, "It’s alright, maybe drinking it a couple times made me a bit immune."

"Do you prefer candy or preserved fruits, or should I prepare some honey water next time?"

Qiao Mo thought for a moment, "Hmm...a bit of both candy and preserved fruits."

Candy is sweet but only removes the bitter taste in the mouth; preserved fruits aren’t as sweet and don’t fully cover the bitterness, but after swallowing, they make the throat and stomach feel a bit better.

"Okay." Fu Nancheng noted it down seriously.

Qiao Mo gave him a smile, seemingly wanting to prove to him that she’s fine.

Fu Nancheng gently pulled her into an embrace, "We will definitely have a child of our own."

Qiao Mo nodded but pushed him away, "My makeup has smudged, I’m going to wash my face, don’t let it stain your clothes."

Qiao Mo turned and walked into the bathroom, deciding to wash all her makeup off.

But as she washed, she began to feel her stomach churn violently, an indescribable discomfort.

She leaned against the sink, dry heaving twice, her eyes red.

Upon hearing the sound, Fu Nancheng immediately ran in, just as Qiao Mo felt another wave of nausea, completely vomiting out the medicine she had just taken, along with quite a bit of what she had eaten for lunch.

He poured her a glass of warm water, gently patting her back, feeling distressed.

Qiao Mo vomited for quite a while before feeling somewhat better.

The taste of Chinese medicine was something she could hardly bear, not because she was being dramatic, but because the moment it entered her mouth, she really felt like gagging.

"How are you?" Fu Nancheng helped her up.

Qiao Mo gently shook her head, her face still dotted with water droplets.

He picked up a towel to wipe the droplets from her face, a bit worried.

Qiao Mo looked at him, somewhat choked, "I’m sorry, I’m so useless."

He embraced her, "Don’t say that about yourself."

Qiao Mo lowered her eyes, feeling terribly uncomfortable, never imagining that the medicine she’d just taken would be vomited out in an instant, fearing she might be destined never to have a child again in this lifetime.
