Pokémon Court-Chapter 838: Respective Target
Reversal development level: 79%.
Close Combat development level: 18%.
Morning Sun development level: 4%.
Thrash development level: 43%.
This was the information on Arcanine’s absorption of that red Genetic Potion. Terrance had also come to a conclusion: in the span of just one day, even if several Pokémon managed to absorb some of the potion, the degree of absorption would not be very high. Master Victor had said before that absorbing a Genetic Potion was itself a form of training that required a long period of time to achieve the best results while ensuring safety. Judging from this, the current percentages should represent the extent to which the Genetic Potion’s effects were being wasted.
"This is actually not bad."
Compared to Kirlia’s 88% wastage and Altaria’s 76% wastage, Arcanine’s 36% wastage was nothing at all.
"So that means, if the development level of the move Reversal reaches 100%, Arcanine will be able to truly master this move, right?" Terrance stroked his chin and asked the Rotom Pokédex.
"Yes, Roto," the Rotom Pokédex replied. "And the level of mastery won’t be low either."
After receiving this affirmative answer, Terrance looked up at Arcanine and said, "Alright then. During this period, focus entirely on absorbing the effects of the Genetic Potion and strive to master these four moves as soon as possible!"
Once mastered, Arcanine’s wild nature—that is, its combat prowess—would be further enhanced. Close Combat not only improved the coordination of close-quarters fighting but also expanded its effective striking range. The combination of Reversal and Morning Sun would allow Arcanine, after unleashing an all-out blow, to follow up with an even more dazzling finishing strike.
In addition, Terrance also planned to have Arcanine learn control over Sunny Weather to pair with Morning Sun and its Fire-type moves.
If possible, even Altaria could make use of some part of Sunny Weather technique to strengthen Flame of Life.
"Aoooo~" After the checkup, Arcanine stuck out its tongue and grinned at Terrance, startling him into hurriedly waving his hands to shoo it off to play elsewhere.
"Next is Beautifly. Don’t rush, one at a time."
Beautifly’s Genetic Potion had only one effect: enhancing the activity of its life cells, in other words, increasing Beautifly’s vitality.
Bug-type Pokémon were known for their short lifespans. Even with Terrance’s meticulous training and without reproducing, Beautifly’s physical condition would hit rock bottom after ten years. Even if it managed to cling on for more than a decade, it would be unable to display even twenty percent of its combat power.
But with this Genetic Potion from Master Victor, there might be a turning point.
"The vitality contained in that Genetic Potion may not look as abundant as the life water gifted by Xerneas, but since it modifies Pokémon from the genetic level, its effects shouldn’t be too bad."
Vitality development level: 19%.
When the light projection appeared in the air and Terrance saw the progress bar occupying nearly one-fifth, he let out a sigh of relief. This showed that the Genetic Potion was indeed helpful to Beautifly.
Terrance’s careful nurturing had only caused Beautifly to waste about one-fifth of the potion’s effects. Didn’t that mean that keeping Beautifly at its peak condition for another ten or even twenty years was completely within reach?!
"It must be so..." Terrance extended his hand, and Beautifly slowly landed on it. Human and Pokémon looked at each other, then Terrance smiled faintly and let Beautifly fly off.
"Next... is Mismagius." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Mis~magius!" Mismagius called softly and looked toward the Rotom Pokédex. After the Rotom Pokédex nodded, the projection immediately appeared.
Curse development level: 59%.
Destiny Bond development level: 51%.
Ominous Wind development level: 55%.
Shadow Sneak development level: 54%.
"Hmm, come to think of it, doesn’t the wasted portion indicate that Mismagius itself already possesses this kind of potential?! Maybe it’s not that Master Victor didn’t know, rather these medicinal properties must be combined to formulate a truly perfect Genetic Potion." Mismagius’s Genetic Potion development levels gave Terrance a new perspective.
But whether the medicinal effects were truly wasted or not was no longer important. That wasn’t the key point.
"Each move is less than 50% away from successfully awakening. This will greatly strengthen your Ghost-type foundation. Keep working on the development." Successfully absorbing the remaining medicinal effects was the main form of training for Terrance and his Pokémon. As for the principles behind Genetic Potions, that could be studied later.
"Mis~magius!" Mismagius slowly floated away as well...
With Mismagius finished, it was Castform’s turn.
Fire-type aptitude development level: 61%.
Water-type aptitude development level: 92%.
Grass-type aptitude development level: 55%.
Rock-type aptitude development level: 49%.
Ice-type aptitude development level: 84%.
Electric-type aptitude development level: 85%.
Flying-type aptitude development level: 86%.
Castform had the most types that needed development, because the effect of its Genetic Potion was to enhance the foundation of its weather-based moves.
However, the amount of medicinal effect it wasted also looked the most terrifying and eye-catching...
"Could it be that my four weather-based training methods turned Castform into this state? From the looks of it, the water, electric, and flying type related to rainy weather are indeed developed quite well; after all, Castform is best at Rainy Weather. Next is Snowy Weather, where the ice-type development is also fairly high. As for Sandstorm, which Castform is the worst at, the development level is only 49%. That actually fits its current situation." Terrance nodded repeatedly, while Castform anxiously began trying to remind him of something.
"It’s saying that if the development percentages for Sandstorm and Sunny Weather reach 100%, would it be able to control those weathers just like Rain, Roto," the Rotom Pokédex quickly translated when it saw Terrance freeze for a moment.
"You’re right. That possibility can’t be ruled out. Even if there’s still a gap, it shouldn’t be as big as before," Terrance said with a smile after understanding. Upon hearing this answer, Castform flew up with a whoosh, clearly excited.
"This little guy..." Terrance’s smile grew even brighter. It seemed that Master Victor’s Genetic Potion had made all the Pokémon on his main team—those whose strength had fallen into bottlenecks—very happy. At the very least... they now had a clear new direction, which saved him a great deal of time.
"Gallade." Terrance then called Gallade over and had the Rotom Pokédex begin scanning.
Psychic power development level: 19%.
Mean Look development level: 1%.
Shadow Sneak development level: 1%.
Compared to the other Pokémon, Gallade really had... done an outstanding job!
"This... this is great." As Gallade stared blankly at these figures that barely counted as data, Terrance couldn’t help but laugh and said, "Not bad, not bad at all. At least you’re the most frugal one, you didn’t waste much of the medicinal effect. You know, Genetic Potions aren’t cheap."
"Gall~ade..." Gallade was also helpless. With a single Teleport, it immediately slipped away and ran off to train hard nearby.
After Gallade left, only Ninetales remained.
Ice-type development level: 68%.
Fairy-type development level: 68%.
Psychic power development level: 41%.
Hypnosis development level: 34%.
These were development levels within expectations. Snowy weather training and Fairy Aura had both previously enhanced Ninetales’s aptitude, so these numbers seemed reasonable to Terrance. After seeing how much of its Genetic Potion had been utilized, the clever Ninetales immediately understood its own situation, let out a soft "woo," and expressed that it also wanted to continue training.
"Go on, go on. Don’t forget to ask Beautifly for advice on how to use air currents," Terrance said.
Before he realized it, all eight Pokémon that had received Genetic Potions had left, leaving only Terrance, Carbink, and Pupitar.
These two Pokémon... had not received any Genetic Potion.
Seeing their companions obtain such powerful resources, it would be a lie to say they felt no envy.
As their Trainer, Terrance naturally knew how to comfort the two little ones.
Smiling as he pulled Carbink and Pupitar close, Terrance said, "Don’t worry. Carbink, you’re about to have an opportunity to mutate into the world’s most beautiful Pokémon, Diancie—something that may not be inferior to a Genetic Potion. And Pupitar, the same goes for you. That ruin that gave birth to the Smooth Rock is extremely mysterious. I’ll find a chance to take you there. When the time comes, even if we have to turn the whole ruin upside down, we’ll find enough benefits to make you stronger."
