Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 33 - 20: Seduction
Leon ran right into Sang Luo the moment he stepped outside.
He gave a quick bow before running off.
"Wait," she called, but it was too late to stop him.
"What took you so long?" Caesar approached, taking the two bags from her hands. They were filled with crystal sugar and fresh fruit. "You could have just sent someone for these things. You didn’t have to go shopping yourself."
"Tangerines, key limes... and this one has a crisp texture but tastes sweet, like a strawberry. This carton is milk. I was thinking of taking it back, adding some ice, and blending up some fruit smoothies." The Rubel Forest was entering its cold season, while the Yalan Empire was still in the middle of a scorching summer. It would be a shame not to make some refreshing fruit drinks. Sang Luo licked her lips. "Want to try some?"
"I’m a carnivore. I don’t care for fruit," he politely declined.
"How boring!"
Beastmen generally ate only for sustenance and energy; few ever delved into the culinary arts. She, on the other hand, loved to experiment. Caesar took her hand and led her back, silently making a mental note of the fruits she’d bought. He would have someone buy more for the house in a few days.
"By the way, I just saw Leon run off in a hurry. Is there news from the Kordo Tribe?"
Caesar paused for a moment before smiling. "Not yet. I’ll let you know if I hear anything."
Sang Luo didn’t miss the flash of cold indifference in his eyes.
’He’s hiding something from me.’
When she ran into Leon again two days later, Sang Luo used some more dried fish to thoroughly win over the snow leopard.
"I’m truly sorry, ma’am, but we weren’t able to find your mate. However, wasn’t there a Mutant Wolf Beast in your tribe? After the Beast Tide retreated, he returned to the Kordo Tribe. It seemed like he was looking for someone."
Sang Luo’s heart clenched. "What did the Wolf Beast look like? What was his power?"
"A black wolf, Thunder Element."
’Lan Cang!’ Hope flared in Sang Luo’s heart. Her throat went dry. ’I have to find a chance to return to the Rubel Forest and confirm this.’
"What’s wrong? Do you know that Wolf Beast?"
"It’s nothing. Go on. I’ve seen that Wolf Beast in the tribe before, but I don’t know him well."
Seeing her calm expression, Leon felt more certain it wasn’t the same Wolf Beast and spoke freely. "That’s good! His Frenzy Value has surpassed 80. Lord Caesar gave a special order that, according to Empire law, he’s to be executed on sight."
WHOOSH! Sang Luo shot to her feet. A startled Leon also scrambled up, looking bewildered. She smiled at him. "Are you thirsty? I made some fresh juice this morning. Can I pour you a glass?"
"Uh, yes, please!" Ever since Leon found out she made the jerky herself, he was in complete awe of her cooking skills and often found excuses to come over for free food and drinks.
Sang Luo turned and walked to the kitchen. The moment she was out of sight, her smile vanished. Her hands trembled with the rage of being deceived.
But she quickly composed herself. She poured Leon a glass of light milk tea, gave him some more jerky, and after a bit of small talk—from which she gleaned no more useful information—she saw him out.
According to Leon, to ensure the city’s safety, all Beastmen needed identity authentication to enter or leave. This required a Light Brain—that device they wore on their wrists, like an advanced smartphone. It was an essential part of life for every Beastman in the Yalan Empire, and one had to register their identity in advance.
When Caesar returned that night, Sang Luo initiated a hug. She was wearing a printed, waist-cinching long dress that emphasized her slender waist, which felt like a mere handful in his grasp. Even Caesar’s movements were gentle as he held her.
"Will you come to my room tonight? I bought a few new things I’d like to show you," Sang Luo said, her voice dripping with insinuation as she gently hooked a finger on his belt.
"Sangsang, you..."
A coil of heat tightened low in Caesar’s stomach, but he simply stared at her, unmoving.
"It’s a one-time offer. Take it or leave it."
She lost interest and turned to leave.
How could Caesar pass up such a willing offer? Without a word, he swept her up, carried her to his chambers, and sat her on his lap before lowering his head to kiss her.
Their first kiss. It started cool, like ice, but as the moments stretched on, it grew hotter and hotter...
Sang Luo pressed her upper body against his chest, meeting Caesar’s tentative explorations. His large hands roamed her waist, and his body heat felt like it could melt her entirely.
Just as he was about to take the final step, Sang Luo unilaterally ended their moment of bliss.
She cupped his face, looking down at Caesar’s dazed, passion-filled eyes, now clouded with pained restraint. She suddenly smiled. "We agreed on three months. It’s not time yet."
Caesar was truly on the verge of losing control. He lowered his head and nipped her collarbone. "...You’ll be the death of me."
Sang Luo whispered in his ear, "Answer a question for me. What am I to you?"
"You are what I’ve been searching for. A mate for life."
"Then why haven’t I received your Talent Power?"
Caesar was surprised. "You... you remember?"
"Answer my question first. Do you have other mates somewhere else in the Empire? Am I just your little mistress?"
"Of course not," he explained frantically. "When we first met, I was severely injured. An insect poison triggered a genetic frenzy, and I had no choice but to seal all of my power. You did receive my Talent Power, but it’s still sealed, which is why you can’t use it..."
"Then how can the seal be broken?"
"By... mating with me again." The tips of his ears turned red.
"And why should I believe you? You’re not just trying to trick me into helping you stabilize your Frenzy Value, are you?" She nipped his earlobe.
’It’s all clear now,’ Sang Luo thought. ’Why would a King Beast like Caesar search for a female from a one-night stand, someone whose face he’d never even seen? He would never lack for potential mates. His desperation to find me couldn’t be because he’d fallen for me after one night. He’s after the power inside me, the power that can help a King Beast of his Level soothe their frenzy.’
’This power of mine... it’s enough to drive any King Beast wild.’
Caesar let out a soft grunt but didn’t stop her. He gently stroked her soft, thick hair, his touch full of affection and adoration. "Sangsang, did you know? I’m an Innate King Beast. There isn’t a single female in the entire Empire who is a match for me. I had long since resigned myself to growing old alone."
"But then you appeared. Your power can soothe my mind. It’s so unique and potent that I became desperate to find you, keep you by my side, and protect you with everything I have."
She understood the principle all too well: her talent was her curse.
The truth always comes out eventually. Sang Luo feared she would be treated as a mere tool in the future, controlled by those in the upper echelons of power.
But Sang Luo didn’t trust Caesar. ’No one can stay loyal forever,’ she thought. ’The only thing you can truly rely on is the power you hold in your own hands.’
’Caesar just has ulterior motives,’ she reasoned. ’But that’s fine. I have my eyes on his power, too.’
’A simple transaction. No feelings involved. No one owes anyone anything.’
"So, you’re only after me for my power, then?" she asked with a smile.
"That time... Ahem. My body... it only reacts to you," Caesar said, slightly embarrassed. He spent years on the battlefield, and with his Frenzy Value always dangerously high, he hadn’t been able to muster any interest in females. He’d even gone for a physical, thinking something was wrong with him.
Now, he was absolutely certain his body was perfectly normal.
Caesar’s gaze on Sang Luo turned scorching once more. He looked like a predator that had locked onto its succulent prey, eager to tear it apart and devour it on the spot.
Sang Luo’s heart trembled under his stare. She had no doubt that if things kept heating up, she would truly be done for tonight. ’The time isn’t right yet,’ she thought. ’I’ll save this piece of meat for later and savor it slowly.’
"Feelings should develop gradually. Are you free tomorrow? Could you take me out for a walk?"
"I have time."
He answered almost immediately.
Sang Luo smiled. She hooked a finger in his hair and began slowly tracing circles on his chest. "You’re so sweet~"
Caesar couldn’t resist any longer. He cupped her face and crashed his lips against hers.
He knew he was utterly done for.
And he savored every moment.
