Chapter 140: How do you plan to thank me

Olive heard Cole’s words to Larry and quickly walked up to yell at him angrily.

"Stop trying to manipulate Larry! You don’t feel guilty at all; you’re just scared! You don’t deserve to be his father. Larry will never agree to this!"

Cole ignored her and continued to look at Larry with teary eyes.

"Larry, you know your father loves you. I did all of this just for you. You are a child of the Foster family, so how could I not love you?

"Promise me you will say something nice, and then I can always be with you. Didn’t you say you wanted to go to the amusement park? I will take you there..."

Larry stood there, his head down. His small figure stood amidst the breeze, lost in thought.

After a long time, he looked at Cole and said, "No need, Mom already took me to the amusement park.

"You don’t love me or Mom. You only love yourself. I hate you. If it weren’t for you, Mom wouldn’t be so miserable..."

He broke down, sobbing hysterically and shouting, "I hate you! I hate you!"

Cole was stunned when he heard his son say this, realizing he might be spending the rest of his life in prison. He wanted to explode in anguish, but the police held him firmly, eventually dragging him into the patrol car.

Olive hugged Larry, gently comforting him as he gradually calmed down.

On the other hand, Rainy went up to comfort her sister.

"Sis, tomorrow, you can leave this place for good."

Wiping her tears, Olive nodded and replied, "Thank you. If we ever meet again, I will have Larry call you Aunt."

Rainy’s heart ached like it was being cut with knives. She choked out amidst her grief, "I just want to know... Why?"

By then, Olive no longer hid everything and poured out all the grievances buried in her heart for years.

Back then, when their parents had divorced, Olive was left with their mother, while Rainy was with their father. After Rainy and her father went abroad, they lost contact with each other. Two years later, their mother received a letter from Rainy saying she missed her and wanted her to visit. Due to this, their mother went abroad and left Olive, never to return.

"She abandoned me for you."

Olive’s voice trembled, revealing the pain she had withheld for her entire life.

But after hearing this, Rainy was shocked, her eyes wide open.

"That’s not true! Sis! You’ve misunderstood me and Mom!"

The truth was that when Rainy followed their father abroad, he had abandoned her. She was left in a foreign land without familiar faces, unable to even speak their language. Without any money to survive with, she struggled through two very dark years. When she finally had the opportunity to write a letter to her mother, she detailed everything she had suffered and added her wishes to be brought home. Their mother had lied about Rainy’s well-being to not let Olive worry, claiming she was only visiting.

Unexpectedly, the plane her mother was on crashed mid-flight, and Rainy received this terrible news before she could even see her. Overwhelmed with grief, she struggled to save money to return to live with Olive. However, their father had taken all her compensation money.

She started wandering again, becoming seriously ill. It wasn’t until she met Cecilia that she managed to survive. With Cecilia’s help, she discovered her talent for piano, gained fame, and earned some money. The first thing she did was to look for Olive, but she couldn’t find her despite tireless searching.

Recently, they had finally reunited.

"I searched every memory we shared. Look, this is Mom’s death certificate. I’ve always kept it with me, so one day I can return Mom to you."

"Our mother abandoned neither of us."

After hearing Rainy’s recount, Olive was stunned. She never thought all those years had been spent in misunderstanding.

Holding her mother’s death certificate, the three of them hugged with tears streaming down their faces.

Cecilia observed this scene, feeling somewhat heartbroken for them. But at least the ending wasn’t all bad, and she was truly happy for Rainy.

On the other hand, Steven watched Cecilia. She had rushed over in a hurry, so her stray hair was gently blowing across her beautiful face, leaving him momentarily mesmerized.

Unconsciously, he reached out to brush away the stray hair on her face, startling her.

"Mr. Lawrence?"

Only then did he realize what he had just done.

Zane noticed this and chuckled quietly behind him.

Who would have thought the usually calm and composed CEO would have such moments?

Steven quickly spoke up to cover his embarrassment.

"There was a bug on your face just now..." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

He needed to change the subject fast.

"By the way, I helped you with such a big favor this time. How do you plan to thank me?"

Cecilia thought for a moment, acknowledging that he truly did help them a lot.

"I’ll take you out for dinner tomorrow."

A smile tugged at the corners of Steven’s mouth as he suddenly thought of something. He added, "I’ll choose the restaurant."

He didn’t want to go to Joe’s restaurant again.

"Okay."

The next day at noon, Steven put on a custom suit, took Emma, and waited at the restaurant early.

At this moment, Cecilia had just woken up. She looked at the time and then called the airline.

"Please book me two first-class tickets to Japan."

After that, she turned to Alex, who was doing calculus at his desk.

"Alex, I just booked some tickets. Let’s go out to enjoy a hot spring right now!"
