Global Descent: Heaven's Executioner-Chapter 57: Lucien’s Terrifying Talent
Zayen lowered his gaze and looked at the four players pinned to the floor.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"You just open your mouth and demand us to leave all our treasure behind? he asked calmly.
The moment those words fell.
The four players’ faces turned deathly pale.
"N-no... we didn’t mean that!" One of them stammered, his voice trembling.
"Please! Spare us!" another cried out, panic filling his eyes. "We were blind! We didn’t recognize your strength!"
"Yes! Yes! We were wrong!"
The arrogance they had shown earlier had completely vanished, replaced by fear and desperation.
They struggled under the crushing pressure, their bodies trembling as they tried to beg for their lives.
"We’ll give you everything!" the tallest one shouted hastily. "Our weapons, our resources—everything we have!"
"Just... please don’t kill us!"
Behind them, Lucien couldn’t help but sneer.
"Hah... now you’re begging?"
He shook his head, looking at them like they were fools.
Zayen’s expression remained calm as he stared at them, as if their lives meant nothing.
Zayen slowly reached out and placed his hand on the tall player’s head, gently rubbing it.
The man’s body stiffened instantly.
His hair stood on end as a chilling sense of danger exploded in his mind.
Before he could react, Zayen’s fingers suddenly tightened.
Crack!
"AAAAAHHH—!"
A miserable scream rang out as the man’s skull was crushed in Zayen’s grip. His body went limp and collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
Silence fell.
The remaining three players were completely horrified. Their faces turned as pale as paper as they stared at the corpse.
They struggled desperately, trying to break free from the overwhelming pressure pressing down on them like a mountain, but it was useless.
Zayen moved again. He placed his hand on the next player—a white-haired, one-eyed, middle-aged man.
The moment his hand touched him, the man’s heart turned cold.
He raised his head slightly, his eyes filled with desperate pleading.
Zayen did not even look at him and held the man’s head, ready to crush his skull, but in that instant.
The man suddenly gathered all his strength and stabbed forward with a dagger!
Clang!
Zayen had already been prepared for any sneak attack, so the moment the white-haired man stabbed forward, a golden light appeared in front of Zayen’s chest, blocking the dagger from reaching him.
The man’s face turned even paler, but before he could react, a numbness spread through his chest.
Looking down, he saw that a hand had pierced through his chest at some unknown moment.
His eyes widened in disbelief.
Zayen calmly pulled his hand back, and in his grasp was a still-beating heart.
"M-Mace"
The player next to the white-haired man had just spoken when everything suddenly.
Slash!
His head flew into the air. Blood sprayed across the ground.
Zayen held a torn piece of cloth and wiped his right hand.
Lucien, who was behind Zayen, had gone slightly pale as he watched how Zayen had just killed three players in the blink of an eye.
"You... you all..." the white-haired, middle-aged man said, his life force not yet completely faded. Having lost his heart, his death was certain, but he could still hold on for a moment longer.
"I was just wondering where to find someone to retrieve the Primordial Star Core Fragment for me..."
"And then you all showed up."
"How thoughtful."
"I was just wondering where to find someone to retrieve the Primordial Star Core Fragment for me when you guys showed up. How thoughtful."
After killing three players, Zayen spoke with a smile, clearly in high spirits.
Hearing this, the last remaining player looked at Zayen with eyes filled with regret.
"If you don’t want to become a corpse," Zayen said calmly, "hand over everything you have."
The player didn’t hesitate.
With trembling hands, he quickly removed a ring from the tall player’s finger and held it out.
If only he had known, he would have run away when the fat guy had warned that this place belonged to his boss. Now he truly regretted not turning around and leaving from the beginning.
"If you don’t want to become a corpse, hand over all the treasure you have."
The player was horrified when he heard Zayen’s words and, without hesitation, removed a ring from the tall player’s finger and held it out with a shaking hand.
"H-here... all our team’s treasures are here. Please take them and spare my life."
Zayen took the ring and glanced at it, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
A storage ring.
Although it was only bronze-grade, it was still rare.
Even Lucien, with his talent skill [Seeking Good Fortune and Avoiding Misfortune], had only managed to obtain an Uncommon-grade one.
The space inside was fairly small, about five cubic meters.
Looking at the spirit and weapon in the storage ring, the corners of Zayen’s mouth were harder to suppress than an AK.
After a while, Zsyen tossed a portion to Zayen.
Zayen looked at them and casually kept a few spirit hearts and weapons that were useful to him, tossing the rest back to Zayen. "I’d be too embarrassed to take so much. These few are useful to me, so I’ll shamelessly keep them. You keep the rest for yourself."
Zayen was stunned for a moment, then let him be.
This was exactly what made him feel comfortable being with Zayen.
Straightforward, no need for polite formalities.
Just like how Lucien wouldn’t be fake-polite when he saw something suitable for himself, since he didn’t want the rest, Zayen wouldn’t keep pushing.
"Ahhh... Boss, can you give the corpses of these players..." Lucien suddenly scratched the back of his head in embarrassment and said, "Zayen," while looking at the corpses on the ground as if they were some kind of treasure.
"Hmmm..." Zayen was left stunned by Lucien’s sudden request. "What do you need those corpses for?"
Zayen looked at Lucien strangely, wondering why he needed those corpses or if this fatty had a strange habit of...
Lucien hurriedly explained when he saw the strange look Zayen gave him.
"I awakened an SSS-grade talent, along with an SS-grade talent skill—Divine Extraction." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
He paused for a moment before continuing, his voice filled with excitement.
"This skill allows me to extract the talents of dead players or magical beasts... and turn them into my own abilities."
"You’re saying...you can extract any talent...and turn it into your own skill?" Zayen was stunned when he heard Lucien’s words, a cold light flashing in his eye as he turned to look at Lucien.
Lucien felt a chill run down his spine under that gaze, but he quickly shook his head.
"N-not everything!"
He hurriedly waved his hands. "There’s a limit!"
Zayen didn’t speak; he just kept staring at him.
Lucien swallowed and continued. "I can only extract talents that are below Divine-grade," he said honestly. "Anything at Divine-grade or above... I can’t touch it."
Zayen thought for a while, and then he slowly nodded in understanding. If there were no limits, wouldn’t that mean this fatty could extract any talent he came across?
But even so...
Being able to extract talents below Divine-grade was already terrifying enough.
Even Celestial-grade or Eternal-grade talents? If that were the case, then this ability would be nothing short of heaven-defying.
Zayen’s gaze grew deeper as he looked at him. After a moment, he nodded. "Okay... but don’t destroy the corpses. I still need them."
Lucien blinked for a moment, then quickly nodded his head like a pecking chicken. "Got it, Boss! I’ll be careful!"
He hurried over to the corpse of the tall player; his earlier nervousness was now replaced by excitement. Taking a deep breath, Lucien extended his hand and placed it on the cold body.
His expression gradually turned serious.
"Divine Extraction..."
The moment the words left his mouth—
A faint, eerie light began to gather around his palm.
Thin strands of energy slowly seeped out from the corpse, like wisps of smoke being pulled away.
The air grew slightly colder.
Zayen narrowed his eyes as he watched.
Lucien’s face turned pale as sweat formed on his forehead.
Clearly, using this skill wasn’t easy.
"Come on... come on. ..."
He gritted his teeth. The strands of energy began to condense, slowly forming a small, flickering sphere above his palm.
Suddenly the sphere trembled violently.
Lucien’s eyes widened.
"Wait—
Pop!
And the next second the energy burst apart like a bubble. The light vanished instantly.
Lucien staggered back a step, breathing heavily.
"Damn it... failed. ..."
He looked down at the corpse, frustration written all over his face.
"Looks like the chances of ’Divine Extraction’ have a low success rate."
Lucien wiped the sweat from his forehead and gave an awkward smile.
"Hehe... yeah... it’s not guaranteed."
He scratched his head.
"The stronger the talent, the harder it is to extract. And... I don’t fully control it yet."
"The stronger the talent, the harder it is to extract. And... I don’t fully control it yet."
Zayen said nothing. His gaze shifted to the last player, who was lying on the ground, trembling in fear, his collar tightly gripped.
"Keep trying. I’ll be back in a while."
Lucien straightened immediately.
"Yes, Boss!"
Then he looked at Zayen and asked, "Ah... Boss, where are you going...?"
But before he could even finish speaking, Zayen, who had been standing right in front of him, suddenly disappeared from his spot.
"What the fuck...?"
Lucien was once again left stunned by Zayen’s sudden disappearance.
