Chapter 747: Chapter 747: The Moment to Destroy the City is Upon Us

Among the Elemental Beings, there were also a few in the form of dragons.

Everyone knew that although dragons among the Elemental Beings were few, they were undoubtedly the most supreme among them. So it made sense that dragons formed from the Death Element were among the strongest, didn’t it?

It was true that these didn’t fit well with them, but no one dared underestimate the combat power of these dragon-shaped elements.

But hadn’t these dragon-shaped elements always been very rare? What’s up with these Undead, and how come there were so many of them? Watching those Bone Dragons soaring in the sky made the City Lord shiver.

"Have the Winged People Army face them to prevent a direct strike on Cold Ice City."

The City Lord then said again, "Notify our family, request the intervention of the ancestral gods. Without their involvement in this war, we might truly lose Cold Ice City."

"But City Lord, about the ancestral gods..."

"I know, the family has been prepared. Let’s begin."

These ancestral gods of the Eight Holy Cities were the same, having become Elemental Gods, they began to become unlike normal people. Most of the time they were asleep, deep within the Elemental Sacred Land, hardly ever waking up.

Aside from waking themselves up every decade, waking them at other times required conducting a sacrifice. This kind of sacrifice was actually very cruel.

It required the life of a bloodline clan member, along with the lives of many commoners, and many elemental type offerings.

Only this could awaken their ancestral gods. And even upon waking up, whether they resolved the issue depended on their mood. If in a bad mood, far from not resolving issues, it was even possible they’d eliminate them entirely.

Thus, although they had Elemental Gods as the pillars of their Holy Cities, nobody truly wished to disturb them.

Even when they woke up themselves, there were very few who wanted to meet with them.

Their strength was enormous and they lacked humanity, making them far too dangerous for ordinary people.

Other people, although reluctant to object, seeing the vast number of Flying Dragons in the sky, all smartly shut their mouths. Arguing in this situation was pointless, as standing in defense themselves would be absurd.

Above the city, some Abnormal People emitting a cold aura and the first-arriving Griffin Knights battled together.

They hoped to use the Griffin Knights to avoid being extensively attacked by the Flying Dragons.

However, it soon became clear something was wrong, as some of the weaker ones began to fall.

"Damn, it’s poison! They’re actually using poison. Everyone, be careful!" someone realized they were poisoned, and the poison was potent. Then they noticed some of the Bone Dragons, whose bones were green, seemed to be the culprits.

"This resistance to poison is really strong, as expected of beings transformed by elemental modification, because of their structure, the effects of toxins are reduced."

The ground commanders, observing the situation, began calculating. It had to be admitted, those transformed by elemental modification, actually had a strong immunity against severe poison and plague.

Perhaps if they continued researching, they could ignore this attack method completely.

It was the first time they encountered a nemesis for their previously effective severe poison and plague.

But nobody minded, given that these two powers weren’t effective against either the Undead Army or Puppets. Before coming to confront them, they had already prepared mentally.

Outside the city where the elite cavalry was engaged in bitter combat.

The enemy was not only stronger but also more numerous. And a large army converged from all directions, blocking their retreat.

"Damn, why haven’t they ordered a retreat?"

"That’s bad, they probably don’t have time to worry about us, look in the sky."

Everyone finally noticed, the grand battle happening in the sky meant the city’s upper echelons didn’t have time for them.

"But what can we do, are we supposed to just fight to the death here?" Fighting to the death wasn’t the issue, they were afraid of dying without any value. Continuing like this, they couldn’t achieve any objectives, and then their deaths would indeed be in vain.

Unfortunately, without city orders for them to return, they couldn’t run back on their own.

Defying military orders was no small matter, even if they ran back, they would most likely be dealt with.

"Retreat, we retreat. No need to discuss further, I give the order, I’ll bear all the consequences."

"We can’t let you bear it alone, this concerns everyone’s lives!" someone loudly retorted. They had trained together for so long, their camaraderie wasn’t just for show.

"Shut it, if we keep going like this, we’ll all die, only I will die if we return now."

"Do you want to watch all your comrades die meaninglessly?" the leader shouted loudly, as their casualties had already been severe due to the recent battle.

"Fine, we retreat." Now wasn’t the time to be sentimental, and everyone started retreating.

But retreating wasn’t so easy under the blocked routes. They didn’t even know if they could make it back. These Undead weren’t ordinary by any means.

Suddenly, the ground shook and a massive centipede head emerged. As soon as it appeared, it spewed out a flame that instantly enveloped the people there. Many screamed as they fell to the ground, quickly losing their lives.

The ground broke apart, revealing one enormous Nether Fire Centipede after another, accompanied by some large spiders.

Any potentially passable path was now completely blocked and they were caught off guard.

"Not good, the cavalry has been surrounded!" Suddenly the people above the city noticed the plight below; the City Lord watched the situation with bloodshot eyes, but what could he do now?

Other than ordering them to retreat directly, there was nothing he could do.

Never before had they felt their Holy City so vulnerable.

"Damn, follow me..." the City Lord’s eyes firmed up, ready to take action himself.

But suddenly, the ground trembled once more, and the entire sky turned blue. Below the blue clouds, the temperature kept dropping, frost appeared on the ground and continued to spread.

Everyone felt the Ice Element within them shivering, displaying a posture of submission.

"It’s the ancestral gods who’ve awakened, thank goodness, we won’t be annihilated," the City Lord at that moment couldn’t even maintain his composure, and shouted excitedly like a child.

However, others were no better off, everyone excitedly looked to the rear, finally not having to fight to the death.
