God of Money: Reincarnated as the Weakest SSS Rank-Chapter 60: Killing
Chapter 60: Killing
After getting rid of that annoying woman, Louis ran through the city to meet Jessy.
Fifteen minutes later, they found themselves near the site of the family mansion of the guy who had greeted him when he first arrived in the City.
"Lord Louis." She greeted him respectfully. "I have very good news." She said, with a beaming smile.
Louis didn’t hear what she said. He was looking at an extremely small Arkanometric Fabric draped over Jessy’s shoulder and hair.
’They’re tracking her.’ He realized.
Now the problem was, who was tracking her - the House of Shadows? Or could it be that Lockward already knew the two of them were allies?
As soon as he realized this, his alarms went off. The danger seemed to suddenly increase, and Jessy’s life was in danger.
"Lord Louis?" Jessy waved her hand in front of Louis’ eyes, causing him to turn back to her.
"Sorry, I got lost in my thoughts for a moment. What were you saying?"
Jessy then smiled again. "Yes, Lord Louis. I was telling you that I have some very good news for you. I have found information on where the Ancient Moon horses are, the House of Shadows, and also some more competitors. It’s been simple because of the noise those bookmakers are making lately."
"Oh?" His eyes sparkled with interest. "Tell me everything you have and the possible covers they are using."
"Yes, sir."
She began to give him a detailed report, written sheets and all.
Apparently, the information he had been given from the House of Shadows about the horses’ position was real. Although there were some cover-ups or places to confuse, thanks to Jessy, he was able to verify which ones were the originals.
Later, she also gave him information about the city. She arrived a little earlier than most people today, and because of that, she was able to understand a lot about the city.
The way it is run and also the culture of the natives here. They wore quite long robes, plated in gold or patterned minerals. They also wore a lot of straw hats, which is curious.
They belonged to small tribes that had been here for over 3,000 years and had kept the tradition of dress, which was really ugly, in Louis’ words.
But all the information she was giving him was very useful, so he was completely satisfied.
"Good," Louis nodded to her. "That will all be enough. Now I need you to go back to where you’re staying and get some rest. Tomorrow will be a big day for us; you can’t miss it." He spoke.
Jessy looked at him, confused. "Will you be able to accomplish the mission flawlessly?"
"Haha, trust me. Nothing will get past me."
She seemed to nod. She still felt a little worried about it, but in the end, she could do nothing if someone as strong as him didn’t succeed in something like this.
"All right. I wish you good luck, Lord Louis." She smiled at him. novelbuddy-cσ๓
And after a short goodbye, she left.
Louis waited for her to disappear from sight between alleys before he began to follow her closely.
She was being tracked, and there wasn’t much time. Tomorrow was the race. If there was time for these people to move, it was today.
He didn’t know what they were planning, so he couldn’t leave her alone.
It was a shame he had to use her as a decoy, but he needed to know who was chasing her so he would know who to watch out for.
So there was no alternative. She had to be a decoy for now, though he had a feeling it wouldn’t be for long.
As she walked between alleys, she soon approached where she was staying.
Just as Louis thought, they moved.
There were six people.
’Normal people?’ he thought, seeing that there were no awakened ones among the six.
Still, they were moving fast and soon surrounded her. She had no chance to act when a strange scarf covered her nose. The intense smell immediately put her to sleep, and her mind succumbed to the darkness, not knowing what it held for her.
"Kill her. We don’t have time." Said one of them, holding a sword.
Then one carrying a pistol pointed at her. "Don’t we need to use her as a bargaining chip against the House of Shadows?" he asked.
"No." He declared. "She’s of no use to us. She’s just a lowly spy working for that new leader."
Receiving the denial to his question, the man with the gun didn’t hesitate and pulled the trigger.
BAM*
The shot resounded loudly.
Then, the man’s body swayed, as did another’s, and both bodies fell to the ground.
Then, a second shot rang out...
BAM*
Two more men died, one after the other.
It was then that the last remaining men realized something was wrong, and a figure appeared from behind the first to die, pointing a silver pistol with gold trim.
They both flinched. "Run, it’s an awakened one!" He roared and tried to run away.
Although they tried to flee to different places, soon one of them felt his head smash fiercely against the rock and exploded.
At the same time, Louis took aim behind him and fired a third shot to kill the remaining one.
Six corpses were strewn about the dark alley, but he paid no attention to them. After verifying that Jessy was all right, he took her to a high-class hotel and let her sleep there. On the side, he wrote her a letter to join him on the morning of the next day.
He also took the opportunity to remove the magic pattern they were tracking her with to avoid further problems.
Some time later, Louis looked out over the city from the roof of a tall building.
’They were members of the Ancient Moon, and they knew about me and that she was my spy. So that narrows the possibility of who the spy will be. One of the three leaders?’ He thought, smiling.
Though there was also the possibility that both houses were fighting together to kill him, on Lockward’s orders, but whatever the reason, he wasn’t about to let it go.
’It’s ten o’clock at night...’ He thought. ’Looks like it’s going to be a long night.’
He smiled and decided not to meet with the House of Shadows again today. Instead, he sent them a written message telling them that he would be out for a while having fun, that he would move at the appointed time, and that he hoped to see them there.
After sending that message, he put on his dark hood and began moving...
