God of Money: Reincarnated as the Weakest SSS Rank-Chapter 61: Leaders in the city
Chapter 61: Leaders in the city
Several people gathered inside the Christian Philips Mansion, in a dark room where only the moon illuminated the interior through the vertical windows.
They were important people.
Christian coughed softly before speaking. "Gentlemen, I just got a message from the Envoy saying that he will be having some fun tonight for a while, so he will not be coming at the appointed time. He says he will meet to complete the mission at the agreed-upon time."
"Young people are always going to look for fun over responsibilities." Jackvin said, with a sarcastic smile.
"Hahaha." Iseni laughed. "Anyway, it’s okay. It’ll be their last day of fun." He declared.
Dicson, for his part, simply nodded, with nothing more to add.
The three current leaders of the House of Shadows traveled here in secret, and they had an important mission.
Then Iseni looked at Dicson. "Do you know where Fraid is?"
"He said he was going to meet an old friend."
"Friend? Fraid has friends in Velfast?"
Jackvin smiled. "It’s that woman, the one he’d become infatuated with. He rarely gets a chance to come to Velfast, so it’s not bad either." He said.
Iseni sighed, indignant at this. "Has he told you when he’s coming back?"
"No. But he should be here within the next two hours."
Jackvin swung his hand and indicated to Christian that he could sit down.
"Let’s discuss the situation. A Lockward is in town and ready to carry out the mission, " he said, placing a scroll on the table.
This one contained information about their most important mission: Kill Louis Carwine. It was a direct order from a Lockward high command, and the payoff was simply staggering.
"Who came?" Dicson asked, curious. "Any of the executioners?"
"Yes." Jackvin replied. "I think it’s the seventh."
"Wow, that’s amazing. They put that much stock in that kid?" Iseni’s eyes flashed with amazement, to which Jackvin could only shrug.
He had no idea why the Lockwards would decide to move such important people just for a mission to kill a young man.
How complicated could it be?
"Well, they make a big deal out of it. Luckily, we don’t have to do much. It’s enough for him to take the bait, and he’ll fall for it."
"That’s just it... No one would escape a Lockward executioner, after all."
"Besides, I have men in parts of the city who will inform me where he is, in case he gets swallowed up in the fun."
As they talked, Christian simply listened. But at this point, he was curious about something.
"Being that a Lockward personally came and we’ll just be the hook, why did we make that deal with Ancient Moon?" he asked.
"Well, who knows?" Jackvin shrugged. "It was the Lockwards’ decision, so we can’t say anything. It’s the first time they’ve ever really messed with our organization. Maybe we can move up if we get into those giants’ sights."
"Hmm." Christian nodded. "Will we believe the words of the Ancient Moon people? How about if they breach it?"
A sinister smile revealed itself on Jackvin’s face. "That would be for the best. If they decide to attack us or any of our horses and break a Lockward edict, then there will be no more Ancient Moon, and we will reign in the Southern Industrial District."
Christian nodded. ’I see. Then that’s why we have no missions against them.’ He nodded.
Not only did they not realistically have missions against them, but they were also making alliances with them. That supposed mission to kill the horses was just a feint to kill Louis.
"But our spies died today, can’t we link that to Ancient Moon? Maybe we could find fault with them and get Lockward’s help." Iseni suggested, but Jackvin shook his head.
"It won’t do. The death of a few spies isn’t enough to get the Lockward to move."
"Sigh. I guess you’re right." Iseni shrugged.
Jackvin sighed. There was nothing to do for now. As they talked, night began to fall, and they grew a little impatient. They hadn’t started the real meeting because they were waiting for Fraid.
"Where the hell did that bastard go?" Jackvin complained and got up. He planned to go looking for him.
But then the door opened and Fraid walked in.
"Shit you bastard. how much fun are you having on such an important night? Your 25% share won’t come back just because you feel like it while you’re running around with a woman!" Jackvin scolded him.
Fraid sighed. Somehow, he seemed to be sweating, and his sigh was one of relief, though no one noticed.
He soon pulled himself together and nodded.
"I was a little late, but I’m here now. So are my blasters in town, so I think it will be a good night." He smiled.
"Tsk, you carefree bastard." Jackvin shrugged and sat down. "Then let’s talk about everything we’ll be doing and calculate the profits." He declared, drawing the attention of all present.

’This, I think, was a great unplanned move.’ Louis thought.
He was looking at a stable of horses to one side of him.
It belonged to one of the Gambling Houses in the City, though neither of the two he knew. But there was no stopping him.
He grabbed a sharp knife and, in one motion, cut off their heads. Not all of them, just two.
The quickest one left him.
With the information he now had, he decided to make a much bolder move than he had planned.
So, he soon moved to another of the stables and, after getting past the security checks with ease, he killed another horse.
This slowly discounted the good horses that would participate in the morning after the race.
When he finished killing another horse and completing four, a system message telling him that he had completed a mission came to him.
Since he had managed to get information about various bookmakers, he created a new mission to kill certain horses from different bookmakers.
Even though it wasn’t the main mission, it still gave him 25 stat points after the 10x upgrade.
He also earned 250 more System Coins.
’Good.’ He smiled, seeing that his stats might soon surpass the 100 barrier, but he didn’t stop his hunt.
