God of Technology: Creating the Internet in Another World-Chapter 346: The Gateway
"The Tulip Kingdom?"
Viscount Roster fell silent for a moment—silent long enough that Nidhogg started to panic, suspecting there was some secret involved—before he finally spoke up and explained the Tulip Kingdom situation.
Nidhogg went from confused to shocked, shocked to dumbfounded, dumbfounded to shaken, shaken to incredulous, his expressions constantly shifting.
He felt like Viscount Roster was messing with him. This was way too ridiculous!
Either this whole thing was made up, or the world had gone crazy!
But thinking back carefully, pulling up all the information in his head and analyzing it, there actually seemed to be some possibility to it.
It seemed like everything could match up.
This...
"What does the God say?"
After a long silence, Nidhogg finally asked.
"The God wants us to guard the gateway and be ready to counterattack at any time." Viscount Roster spoke bluntly.
"So that’s why your Roster territory has been mass-producing weapons?" Nidhogg suddenly understood.
He’d been thinking about this issue lately too.
The Roster territory was producing way too much military equipment.
It kept churning out more every single day, which was obviously abnormal.
After all, humans didn’t have that many wars to fight.
But now he got it.
It was all aimed at another world.
"If that’s the case, shouldn’t more races know about this? We dragons, plus the elves, dwarves, and beastmen—we all have pretty solid combat capabilities. When we counterattack in the future and take over that world, there’ll be massive profits to go around."
After his brief shock and confusion, Nidhogg seemed to snap back. "I’m guessing you’re not just trying to avoid sharing some of the benefits, right?"
"Of course not. It’s just that we’re still in the defensive phase right now. The Tulip Kingdom’s own forces plus the Lava General can handle it. The rest of you should just focus on following along with magic-tech industrial development."
Viscount Roster shook his head slightly, speaking with complete sincerity. "Magic-tech industry will make our world develop at an incredibly fast pace—both the number of intelligent beings and their living conditions will improve."
"Our magic-tech equipment will also be produced faster and faster, so the front lines won’t lack weapons and equipment."
"Plus, as the intelligent population grows, the number of beings who can provide faith will naturally increase massively. The God’s power will strengthen countless times over. We’ll be in an unbeatable position."
"In short, this choice is definitely the most suitable for the current situation."
After listening to Viscount Roster’s explanation, Nidhogg was silent for a while before nodding. "I understand. What you’re saying does make sense."
"When it’s time to go to war, make sure to notify me. We dragons will join the fight too."
"Also, if possible, I’d like your Roster territory to help our dragon warriors produce a batch of useful Magic Conductors."
"Money’s no object."
"You dragons don’t really seem to need extra living space." Viscount Roster was somewhat puzzled. "And with your power level, even if that other world attacked, it shouldn’t affect you much, right?"
Dragons were different from other races. Dragons occupied their own slightly smaller continent where they lived self-sufficiently, and each individual possessed incredibly formidable strength.
Basically, as long as they reached adulthood, they were guaranteed to be high-level supernatural beings. With even a little talent, they’d be legendary.
Looking at the impact the other world had on the Tulip Kingdom, even if that world launched a full-scale invasion, it shouldn’t really affect the dragons.
Under these circumstances, the fact that dragons were actively proposing to join future battles left him confused.
"Who says war requires a need? Can’t I just crave destruction?" Nidhogg snorted coldly.
But in reality, what he was thinking was that he wanted to be first into that other world to see if there were precious metals like gold and silver. If there were, he’d take it all and ship it to Dragon Island. That alone would be worth it. And if everything went smoothly, maybe he could even manipulate them using Dragon Bank, stocks, and bonds...
Thinking about all this, Nidhogg got so excited his tail started wagging.
He felt more comfortable than ever before.
Hanging with the God of Technology these past few months had been way too comfortable.
It was like everything he used to crave was suddenly within reach. Everything he used to struggle with, everything that used to seem difficult—it all just solved itself.
"Uh... sure, no problem. If you guys are willing to fight, that’s even better. Once we finish producing the new batch of magic-tech weapons for the Tulip Kingdom, I’ll have people custom-make magic-tech weapons for you dragons. I’ve got a ton of bold ideas."
Viscount Roster had initially just wanted to explain things, but as he kept talking, it was like inspiration exploded. He came up with a whole bunch of stuff, including several pieces of magic-tech equipment designed specifically for dragons that got even him pretty pumped up.
While these two guys were scheming to change the entire world, back in the divine realm...
Ren and the Goddess of Magic looked at the new mechanical and magical beings they’d created together—beings capable of reaching legendary-level combat power—and both nodded with satisfaction.
They’d just had these beings unleash their strongest attacks once, and they could confirm it definitely met their plans.
"What do we do next? Send them straight to the other world, break through the fortress, and check out what’s outside?" The Goddess of Magic withdrew her gaze with satisfaction and turned to ask Ren beside her.
"I’m still not quite sure. If we break through the fortress and explore the outside world, does that mean the other world will know we’ve entered their world through this gateway? Would it trigger a war between the two worlds early?"
Ren thought for a moment but couldn’t make a decision right away. "We’re not ready yet. We don’t know how many ordinary supernatural beings are in the other world. We don’t know what power level the Mother of Pain has reached."
"If that’s the case, then let’s wait a bit longer. Recruit more technology combat clerics, manufacture more Magic Conductors. Once everything’s ready, we’ll launch an exploration mission into the other world." The Goddess of Magic didn’t hesitate at all and directly stated her suggestion.
"But what level counts as being ready? Our lack of knowledge about the other world makes me feel like no amount of preparation is enough." Ren was somewhat troubled. "How about we set a goal, and once we reach that goal, we launch immediately?"
"Also, we need to tell the other deities about this and have them make some preparations too."
