Grand Voyage : Surviving on a Ghost Ship-Chapter 114 - Ascended to the Extraordinary!
The immense recoil from the flintlock gun wrenched Yang Yi free from his restraints.
Of course, this was also because the giant had let go.
After all, the shot was aimed directly at its vital point — it struck the ice egg cradled in the crystalline giant’s right hand.
Even before the battle began, Yang Yi and Suna had discussed and analysed their enemy.
Both of them had come to the same conclusion: the head in the giant’s right hand was its true body!
As for the giant itself, it was most likely just a puppet controlled by that head!
Thus, Yang Yi’s battle plan was simple — approach the giant while wielding the conspicuous Broken Iron, launch an attack, then catch the enemy off guard by switching to the flintlock gun’s cannon mode and firing at the ice egg at point-blank range, leaving the giant no time to react!
And he succeeded!
The head in the giant’s hand was blasted over two hundred metres away, crashing into the glacier with a series of terrified screams.
Immediately after, the crystalline giant erupted with unprecedented speed, dashing towards the head, crouching down to shield it while carefully picking it up.
Cracks now covered the ice egg’s surface, some areas turning stark white, on the verge of shattering.
But in the end, it did not break. It had withstood the strongest.
The head sealed within remained unscathed — except for the sheer terror written across its face.
After all, it had just experienced firsthand the threat of death at the hands of a mere mortal, an insignificant insect of a man!
“How despicable!”
The head howled furiously, eyes filled with venomous hatred.
“I will capture you, throw you into the fire, and burn away your soul and body!”
To the followers of the Ice Nest, fire was the most wicked force of all, and burning one’s enemies was the cruelest punishment imaginable.
Seeing that the old thing hadn’t died, Yang Yi’s eyes flickered with disappointment.
That had been his strongest attack — striking the enemy’s weak point — yet it still failed to inflict fatal damage.
It was absurd!
The gap in power between them was simply terrifying!
However, after hearing the crystalline elder’s curses, Yang Yi couldn’t help but laugh.
For a lunatic obsessed with low temperatures, death by fire was the ultimate torment but for a madman who embraced the flames, it was the highest form of ecstasy!
He glanced at his own condition.
His right arm was completely frozen, cracks forming along its surface. If not for his limb reinforcement spell, it would have already shattered into pieces.
At the same time, a wave of fear spread from his right arm — that was the Spirit of Fear, now so panicked it didn’t know what to do.
“Don’t be afraid, we haven’t lost yet.”
Yang Yi narrowed his eyes.
He hadn’t wanted to resort to that, but he had no choice.
His right side was already numb with frostbite, while his enemy remained nearly unscathed.
Meanwhile, the Ice Nest cultists were closing in. Though their movements were slow, even Suna, watching from afar, couldn’t reach him in time!
“Suna, stay away from me! Don’t come near until I’ve burned out completely!”
He sent her a message, then, using the left side of his body, struggled to his feet and faced the approaching giant.
The latter was carefully shielding the head with the back of its hand, keeping it hidden behind its body as it strode towards Yang Yi.
“You just said…you wanted to burn me to death?” Yang Yi’s voice was calm as he spoke in the common human tongue. “Then why don’t we see who burns first?”
“What?!”
The crystalline giant froze mid-step, an instinctive sense of danger washing over it, filling it with unease.
At the same time, a thick, charred stench filled the air — not from Yang Yi’s body, but from his very soul — revealing his identity as a devoted zealot of the Fire Worship Cult.
“You’re one of those Fire Worship lunatics?!”
Realizing the truth, the giant roared in alarm.
But Yang Yi paid no attention.
A pouch of powdered magic elixir appeared in his hand.
Then, without hesitation, he bit through the paper packet and swallowed the potion — oil paper and all.
Even Suna, who was watching anxiously from afar, was momentarily stunned by his actions.
【You have consumed an unknown potion. 】
【You have contracted Acute Rabid Wolf Syndrome. Your sanity is rapidly decreasing. You have unlocked the Extraordinary Path — Werewolf.】
【You are transforming…】
At the same time, he also gained information about the potion.
【Name: Rabid Wolf Potion】
【Type: Consumable/Potion/Unique】【Quality: Rare】【Description: A potion personally crafted by the witch Suna, extracted from cultured brain tissue infected with the Rabid Wolf virus.
Yang Yi’s sanity plummeted, as if a bucket had sprung a massive leak.
Simultaneously, his body underwent rapid mutation — his height surged towards three metres. Thick grey fur sprouted across his face and body, accompanied by the grotesque sounds of bones stretching and muscles contorting.
Crack! Snap!
The transformation was excruciating, especially while remaining conscious. It felt as if his bones were being ground to dust and reassembled anew.
Yang Yi was rapidly transforming into a werewolf!
The crystalline giant snapped back to his senses.
Realising what was happening, he lunged forwards to stop it, aiming to end Yang Yi’s life before the transformation completed.
Time-wise, he could definitely make it.
The frozen areas of Yang Yi’s body were transforming at a much slower rate — his swollen, twisted right arm hadn’t even grown fur yet, leaving him asymmetrically half-werewolf, literally.
But then, Yang Yi retrieved a half-full flask of charred liquor from his stomach, using the remaining crumbs of black bread to open his stomach pouch.
“Stop him!!! He’s a Grand Elder of the Fire Worship Cult!!!”
The crystalline giant’s eyes widened in terror as he roared.
Yet, aside from the crystalline giant, the Ice Nest cultists around them were frozen statues, barely able to take a single step per minute — there was no way they could stop him in time.
Yang Yi moved. He shouted,
“Flames of Healing!”
Fire engulfed his body. The flames not only healed his frostbite but also completely set him ablaze. His fur ignited, and with the charred liquor as fuel, he turned into a walking inferno.
The Fire Worship Cult had many rituals, most of which required igniting one’s flesh to activate.

And charred liquor was their most beloved drink and fuel.
Among all their incantations, only one required setting the entire body aflame.
A spell known only to the Grand Elders of the Fire Worship Cult, meticulously prepared for the moment of audience with the Charred Tree.
Legend had it that if one burned long enough, if the flames roared fiercely enough, a Fire Worshiper would earn the right to stand before the Charred Tree.
“Burn With Me!”
As Yang Yi shouted, he slammed his palm against his chest. Instantly, the flames consuming his body turned a deep crimson, billowing thick black smoke that swallowed the surrounding mist.
At that moment, his transformation was complete.
【You have fully transformed into a werewolf. Cell vitality increased. Strength +2, Agility +4, Constitution +2, Perception +2, Sanity cap -50, Willpower -2.】
【Your attributes have surpassed 10. You have ascended to the Extraordinary tier.】
A werewolf, wreathed in flames and spewing black smoke, was born.
