Adam stood before his sprawling property in Uptown Quarter with an accomplished smile on his face.

Currently, he was overseeing the construction that was going on. Furthermore, the five properties surrounding his manor had also been bought—courtesy of the Flynn Patrairch.

All those manors had been broken down, and in their place, something new and grand would soon be constructed.

"My Lord, I…" Rowan, Adam’s assistant, found himself at a loss for words. "How did you manage to pull this off?"

"Hehe," Adam chuckled sneakily. "A rich man owed me a favor—a big favor."

"Still…" Rowan loudly gulped. "Buying the surrounding properties should have cost about two hundred thousand gold pieces, at least!"

"Don’t worry," Adam grinned. "Like I said, he’s rich."

He then turned to look at the middle-aged man and patted his shoulder in encouragement, "Rowan, I’m going to leave this whole thing to you, okay?"

Rowan involuntarily straightened his back. "Yes, my lord!" He then paused for a moment, before asking, "If you could give me the general idea about how you want your estate to look, that would be very helpful."

Updat𝓮d from frёewebnoѵēl.com.

"Hmm, okay." Adam thought for a moment, stroking his chin. "Make sure to note this down."

Rowan hurriedly took out a notepad and a lead pencil—called a plummet—and patiently waited for his master.

"Alright, here’s what we’ll do," Adam began, pointing at the area where his manor used to be.

"That place will be the centerpiece of my estate. Two-story, three-story, I don’t care. My bedroom needs to be spacious, and my personal library too. Have a guest quarters inside the manor as well.

"Hmm, as for the rest of the estate, I’d like to have carriages and a stable house. Purchase the finest, well-bred horses. Then, I’d also like to have a formal garden, a fruit orchard, and a pond or a small lake, depending on how much space we can manage."

Noting all of these things down, Rowan couldn’t help but start to sweat. He meekly interrupted him, "My Lord, pardon me for interrupting, but… all of this will require an astronomical amount of wealth."

Adam glanced at him with a mysterious smile, "Money is not a problem."

Then, he looked into the distance, bursting into laughter. "HAHAHA! I’ve always wanted to say that!"

Seeing his reaction, Rowan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. But it made him happy that his master was feeling this excited to build his new house.

"Okay, this is an important one, Rowan." Adam looked at him with an extremely serious face. "A vineyard, got it? I’d like to have my own damn winery!"

Considering his deep love for wine, Rowan seriously nodded. "Leave it to me, sir!"

"Good man!" Adam patted his back.

Then, he went into deep thought again, "Hmm, what else? What else? Right, a private courtyard with a fountain and shaded seating areas. And a personal workshop, hmm, like a painting studio with enough sunlight filtering through."

"Right, don’t forget the servants’ and guards’ quarters," he added.

"Yes, my lord!" Rowan obediently nodded everything down. A few moments later, he suggested, "Sir, considering the vast area of your estate, there will still be a lot of space left even after constructing everything you’ve said."

"Oh? Do you have anything in mind?"

"Indeed, my lord." Rowan nodded. "Might I suggest a paved walkway for leisure strolls and social gatherings?"

"Nice!" Adam nodded, gesturing for him to continue.

"I would have suggested building housing for families working on the estate, but considering what happened last week… I’m afraid that wouldn’t be viable."

"Yes." Adam solemnly nodded. "I can’t have them risk the lives of themselves and their families."

If it wasn’t for his insight the last time when he’d evacuated his entire manor before the night of the Duskfall Incident, who knew how many maids and servants would have died at the hands of Olin Barrett’s undead creatures.

"Very well, my lord." Rowan nodded in understanding. "How about building a guest quarter separate from your manor? This will offer privacy for both yourself and your visitors."

"Sure, if you say so." Adam shrugged. He then added, "But make sure to pour your heart and soul into the vineyard, yeah? No slacking!"

"Yes, of course!" Rowan tried his best to prevent a chuckle from escaping his lips. His eccentric master sure had his priorities right.

Suddenly, the raven-haired youth’s ears perked up and he turned his head sideways. Almost a minute later, he saw a procession of black armored magi donning gray capes riding fine steeds and approaching him.

There were a dozen of these Magi who were approaching, and all of them radiated the aura of Rank 2 - Mana Liquefaction Magi. Judging by their overbearing aura alone, one could tell they were trained amidst iron and blood.

Seeing the seal that these armored Magi were proudly displaying on their brooch, Adam frowned ever so slightly. "The Black Legion? What’s going on?"

The Black Legion was the name of the elite division of Magi within Ravenfell’s armed forces!

The dozen armoured magi finally arrived before the entrance of Adam’s destroyed manor. The one leading them alighted from his black horse and walked up to the youth.

He glanced at Adam for but a moment before thumping his chest armor with his fist and loudly proclaiming, "It is my great honor to meet you, Lord Constantine!"

The rest of the armoured Magi landed on the ground. With a resounding thud, they struck thier chests in unison and roared. "HOO-AAH!!"

Adam was slightly taken aback. "…What do you guys want?"

"Magus Constantine, we are here to escort you to the Lord Marshall’s manor!"

"Her again?" Adam made a face. "What does she want now?"

The lead armored Magus was secretly surprised that Adam would talk so lightly of the Lord Marshall. But in hindsight, he thought that it made sense.

As expected of a Magus who took down a Rank 3 Magus all by himself! He’s not even afraid of Lady Benton!

He cleared his throat and solemnly declared, "Magus Constantine, the Lord Marshall of Ravenfell requests your presence to formally grant your title."

Adam was even more confused. "What title?"

The guard smirked, straightening his posture.

"The one you’ve earned in blood and fire, Magus Constantine. The title of Count."
