Benton Estate, Uptown Quarter.

Escorted by the Magi of the Black Legion, Adam arrived at the grand manor of the Lord Marshall of Ravenfell.

As he climbed the marble stairs to the manor’s entrance doors, he couldn’t help but think to himself in surprise, The title of Count? I truly did not expect that!

What changed Lady Benton’s mind? Considering how our conversation went last week, I didn’t think she would reward me with anything, much less a noble title.

What’s gotten into her? I wonder…

Suddenly, he noticed a tall man donning an obsidian armour and a gray cape, just like the rest of the members of the Black Legion, standing by the towering oak doors.

He had a lean yet muscular build, and was a head taller than most of his peers. His hair was dark and he sported a neatly trimmed mustache and a goatee, giving him the appearance of a refined and mature man.

The moment the man saw Adam ascending the stairs, he stepped forward and thumped his chest plate with his fist, greeting in a thunderous voice, "Lord Constantine, it is my honor to meet you. I am called Raidon, the Captain of the Black Legion!"

Adam raised his brow in surprise, thinking to himself, These guys from the Black Legion…

"Captain Raidon." He nodded in greeting.

"Please, follow me, my lord," Raidon respectfully stated with a slight bow. "I shall escort you to the main hall."

Adam nodded and followed after the man. He noticed that the dozen Magi of the Black Legion also followed behind him.

Could it be… He thought of a possibility, and couldn’t help but feel a big headache coming.

Damn it, is this seriousy happening?

He couldn’t help but ask the man walking beside him, "Captain Raidon, who is the Magus in charge of the Black Legion? Is it you, perhaps?"

Raidon glanced at him with a knowing smile, "I used to be, My Lord."

"Used to, eh?" Adam almost buried his face in his palm. "I see what’s going on."

Raidon couldn’t help but chuckle lightly. He then told him, "We heard about your exploits during the Duskfall Incident, my lord. Needless to say, all the warriors of the Black Legion greatly admire you and look up to you."

"…I see." Adam forced a smile.

After taking a few turns inside the expansive and opulent manor, the group finally arrived before the entrance of the grand hall.

"We are here, my lord," said Raidon as he gestured for the guards standing on each side of the entrance to open the door.

With a loud creak that echoed throughout the place, the door was slowly opened. Inside, lay a grand hall where a large number of people had gathered.

The majority of them were wearing black armor and donning a gray cape. The rest were men and women of all ages, dressed in fine, luxurious clothing. The air around them was refined and noble.

At the far end of the hall, atop an elevated platform, lay a high-back chair—almost like a throne—which was occupied by none other than the Lord Marshall of Ravenfell, Sabrina Benton.

Raidon stepped forward, slamming his fist to his chest in salute, and loudly announcing, "Presenting Magus Adam Constantine! By decree of the Council of Seven, he stands before you, Lord Marshall."

Sabrina Benton nodded her head ever so slightly as she sat on the throne. The aura she radiated was no different than a ruler who had fought a thousand battles and conquered a thousand nations.

On either side of her, stood her family members, all of them looking at the black-robed youth with the black pointy hat with piqued interest. After all, this was the young man who had done the unthinkable—kill a Magus one entire realm above him!

The Benton Family was famed for producing powerful Magi. All of them placed great emphasis not just on magical spells, but also the martial prowess of a Magus.

As such, they were greatly looking forward to meeting Adam.

After Raidon had stepped aside, Adam stepped forward. He placed a hand on his chest and lightly bowed. "Greetings, Lady Benton."

Through his Sphere of Resonance, he sensed the mana fluctuation around the people standing on either side of her. He was secretly taken aback, sensing two more Rank 3 - Mana Vortex Magi apart from Lady Benton herself.

The Benton Family has at least three Rank 3 Magi, he thought.

As expected of the most powerful Magus Family in Ravenfell!

Sabrina Benton glanced at Adam and spoke in a flat voice, "Magus Constantine, I reckon you are aware why you have been summoned here."

"…Yes, my lady."

"Good." The Lord Marshall rose to her feet, unsheathing the ceremonial cross sword in her hands. "Kneel."

"Yes!" Adam immediately knelt on one knee.

A strange feeling bubbled up inside of him, and for some reason, he was reminded of the golden rice fields and the oak tree outside his home—the place he grew up in—in Behal Town.

A son of a farmer, now a proud noble of Ravenfell.

Sabrina Benton stood before him, resting the sword on his left shoulder. "Adam Constantine, by decree of the Council of Seven and by my authority as the Lord Marshall of Ravenfell, I hereby recognize your valor, wisdom, and unyielding service to the city.

"Through your deeds, you have demonstrated strength worthy of a noble station, having vanquished those who have threatened our land, exposed dark conspiracies, and proven your might in battle."

She paused, raising the sword and then placing it atop the youth’s right shoulder.

"In recognition of these extraordinary achievements, I name you Count of Ravenfell. From this day forth, you shall bear the rights, privileges, and responsibilities befitting a noble of your station.

"Let it be known that the lands and holdings of this title shall pass to your bloodline, ensuring that your legacy endures through the generations."

A faint smile tugged at Sabrina Benton’s lips as she continued, "Rise, Count Constantine, and take your place among the noble peers of this land. May your wisdom guide your people, and may your strength defend your title."

All the people inside the grand hall clapped enthusiastically, even Sabrina’s two sons, who were also Rank 3 Magi.

Count Adam Constantine rose to his feet and looked at Sabrina Benton with a grateful smile. "Thank you, my lady."

"I am not finished yet," said the Lord Marshall with a smirk.

Adam’s smile threatened to break apart.

Here it comes, he thought.

Sabrina Benton presented him with a blackened steel medallion with the sigil of a raven and two swords engraved on it.

She then declared authoritatively, "Count Constantine, by your valor, strength, and undeniable merit, you are hereby named Commander of the Black Legion—Ravenfell’s most elite force, a hundred Mana Liquefaction Magi strong. These warriors, the finest of our city, now stand under your command."

As she handed the youth the black medallion, she spoke in an extremely solemn voice, "Bear this with honor, lead with conviction, and let the Black Legion be the unbreakable spear of Ravenfell."

She then looked at the hundred black armoured Magi assembled in the grand hall and declared with unwavering authority, "Men, welcome your new Lord Commander!"

As one, the Black Legion slammed thier right guantlets over their chest plates, their voices echoing through the chamber in a thunderous roar.

"HOO-AAH!!!"
