With the prompt to choose a song appeared, Max turned to Lily and said.

"Feel free to choose one you like."

"Hnn… Okay." Lily nodded and looked at the list of the song.

There were many, starting from popular songs sung by artists in the top chart to indie songs. Everything was available as the game company collaborated with the most popular music platform in the United Nation.

Naturally, Lily's new song was also there.

"Let's choose this one." She smiled and clicked the song.

The title appeared in front of them in bold letters.

The next prompt was to set their difficulty and they both decided on medium. It was just a casual stream and they weren't going for high scores.

"Then, we begin!"

As Max spoke, a fast song played. The beat began slowly before building up into a fast rhythm and Max was immediately greeted with aliens moving around.

He swung his sword and destroyed an alien.

Then, he shot another one with his gun.

"Good! Just like that!" He cheered for himself and turned to look at Lily. "Are you doing well, Lil-- Woah! Lily?!"

At that moment, he witnessed Lily's amazing skill. Her hand moved swiftly, moving in rhythm to the beat of the song, and she was destroying the aliens as soon as they appeared.

A golden 'Perfect' appeared on top of the aliens' body as she cut them apart. Their parts disappeared and turned into light as she shot them. It was beautiful and elegant, almost like a dance. Her figure was graceful and captivating.

Max was awed by her performance. It was as though she had practiced this before. He didn't expect her to be that good in this kind of game.

— I don't think I've ever seen someone did so many perfects in this difficulty

— Me either

— Holy crap, Lily is something else

— Lily is too amazing

— The cutest girl is the most talented one

Right.

Unexpectedly, she did really great in this game despite being a newbie.

On the contrary, Max only attained 'Great' and 'Not Bad' instead of perfect. He always missed a beat or so, being too fast or too slow to slash the alien.

"Listen to the beat." Lily said. Her hand danced around, cutting the aliens in a beautiful display of rhythm, "Just follow the beat and you will get a Perfect!"

"I see." Max nodded, focusing his mind on the beat. He listened closely to it and timed his attack. And as a result…

'Perfect' and 'Perfect!' appeared above the alien.

"Yeah!" He exclaimed.

Now he knew the trick to the game. As long as he could time it properly, he could get a Perfect!

"Let's do this, Lily!" Max said, readying himself to follow the rhythm.

Lily looked at him and nodded, "Let's!"

She began dancing and singing. Her movements were graceful and elegant, flowing like a stream of water. Her voice rang sweetly through the air, singing along to the beat of the song. She was a sight to behold.

Max followed suit and moved his hands, cutting and shooting the incoming aliens with perfect timing. He didn't try to cut them too fast or too slow, but just at the right time. It felt great and satisfying.

His score climbed as more aliens fell to his attack. It wasn't enough to catch up to Lily but at least his score was in a good place.

— Aah! This game is so much fun to watch!

— Lily and Breeze's duo is so awesome!

Since he was given advice earlier, Max only missed a few aliens. Other than that, his performance was pretty good. Not as great as Lily's but good nonetheless.

And it was enough to put him in third place, just 500 points behind the second place. While Lily, as expected, was leading by miles ahead.

The song neared its end, and so was the alien army.

"Let's finish it!"

Max shouted, shooting and slashing the aliens.

"Un!"

Lily nodded and began dancing faster. She slashed the alien's arm, dodged a blow from its sword, then shot another. Her sword passed all the right lines and cut them in the right places while her gun never missed a shot.

— Lily's too powerful.

— What a talent! It's the first time she played the game, yet she already mastered it?

— I can't believe she can play it so perfectly.

— No kidding, it's almost like she's a natural at it

"Here comes the final wave!" Max said, raising his gun.

The song was at its end and the alien's army started to appear more. They came from all sides, all of them were trying to get to him and Lily.

Max was ready.

After all, he knew the last part of the song, where the beat got faster, would be difficult. However, with a little bit of concentration and the knowledge of what was coming up next, he was able to keep up with the rhythm. He was ready to take down every single alien.

Following the beat, he cut the alien's body, shooting them as they fell.

Then, as the song was nearing its end...

"Here it comes!"

The final wave appeared. Max's fingers danced, shooting the enemies as fast as possible. It was the final push to finish this level and the aliens were coming at him in a swarm of red lines.

He was pushed to his limit as the aliens approached him.

"Ah!" Max shouted. He was struggling to keep up with the rhythm.

The aliens approached him quickly, and he had to move fast to keep up.

In the end, he missed some of them but managed to keep himself alive.

As the song reached its last note, Max slashed the final enemy and sighed in relief.

"Yes!"

With that, the game ended. The aliens disappeared, leaving behind only the remnants of their broken exoskeletons. The song stopped, leaving only the sound of the wind.

The result screen appeared before Max's vision and he looked at the final score.

"I did my best." She replied, smiling proudly, "S-Rank!"

'Nothing beats her in the music department, I guess.' Max smiled proudly at her and high-fived her hand.
