Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Encountering Lilia Again

Li Wei looked at the figure behind him and fell silent.

He raised his Magic Staff, a Fireball blazing fiercely at its tip, and stared at her as he demanded:

"Who are you? What are you doing stealing my eggs?"

Lilia, wrapped head to toe in a black cloak, felt her guilt surge. She hadn’t expected to be caught red-handed.

Feeling Li Wei’s sharp gaze and seeing the blazing Fireball,

Lilia hurriedly said, "I’m not a bad person! I was just hungry and looking for something to eat."

Li Wei watched her. If he hadn’t seen that she was just trying to steal bird eggs, he would have already smashed her with a Fireball Skill.

His Spiritual Power probed out, seeing through to the face hidden beneath the cloak.

Li Wei was stunned for a moment, then recognized Lilia.

He hadn’t expected to run into Lilia here.

"Lilia, why are you here?"

Li Wei asked directly.

Hearing this, Lilia’s heart jolted. She exclaimed in surprise, "You know me?"

She looked at Li Wei but had no memory of ever meeting him.

To Lilia, Li Wei was a complete stranger; she had no memories of him whatsoever.

WHOOSH!

The Fireball grew larger, its searing heat baking Lilia.

She swallowed nervously, glancing cautiously at the Fireball on Li Wei’s Magic Staff.

Lilia could feel the terrifying power within it.

If it hit her, she would surely die.

Lilia hastily explained, "I fled from Cold Sand City. I haven’t eaten in three days. I couldn’t help myself when I saw the bird eggs on the ground."

"I really didn’t mean to. I’m sorry."

"I saw you put them on the ground and thought you didn’t want them, that’s why I took them."

Li Wei sneered. "Heh, a Tier One Peak Assassin can’t find food?"

Lilia was shocked. ’He knows that too?’

Coming to her senses, she gave a bitter smile. "I escaped here by mixing in with a group of Beastman prisoners. The Beastman prisoners have been starving for five days and five nights. There’s really nothing to eat at all, otherwise I wouldn’t have snuck out to find food."

"The Beastmen in the camp have started eating tree bark and wild grass."

Hearing this, Li Wei was inclined to believe her.

He extinguished the Fireball in his hand and withdrew his Mana.

The Shadow Attendant had returned and was right behind Lilia, so there was no longer any need to intimidate her with a Fireball.

Li Wei was rather curious about what had happened inside the Cold Sand City Lord’s Mansion that night.

He looked at Lilia and asked, "What exactly happened that night you tried to assassinate the City Lord?"

Lilia stared at Li Wei in shock. "How do you know everything?"

In an instant, Li Wei became incredibly mysterious in Lilia’s eyes.

’As expected, Mages are all mysterious and powerful,’ Lilia thought.

She answered, "I followed the others into the City Lord’s Mansion, preparing to assassinate the two City Lords."

"When we made our move, we discovered one of them had power beyond imagination. In almost an instant, all the attacking Assassins were killed by that person."

"I had just seen a flash of Sword Qi fly toward me when I suddenly passed out. When I woke up, I found myself in the grass outside Cold Sand City."

"Before I passed out, I think I saw that person kill Tolias."

Lilia told Li Wei everything she knew, hoping he would let her go.

Hearing this, Li Wei grew pensive.

The expert Lilia mentioned must be Otz.

Tolias was the City Lord of Cold Sand City, and he died by Otz’s sword.

He looked at Lilia and asked, "How did you survive?"

Lilia smiled bitterly. "I don’t know either."

"This has happened a few times before when I’ve been in danger. I suddenly pass out, and when I wake up, everything is safe again."

Li Wei gave Lilia a deep look, knowing she concealed a secret within her.

Considering that even someone with Otz’s Power couldn’t kill Lilia,

Li Wei had no intention of making a move against her.

He had no desire to test whether he could fight the mysterious Power inside her.

Since that Power had helped Lilia escape from Otz, it certainly wasn’t weak.

Based on the current intelligence, Otz’s Power was definitely no less than Tier Four.

GRUMBLE GRUMBLE~

Lilia’s stomach rumbled.

Li Wei glanced at her and waved his hand. "Go on."

Lilia looked at Li Wei gratefully. "Thank you."

With that, she scurried away in a flash.

"She’s pretty fast when she runs, heh!"

Li Wei watched the direction Lilia had disappeared and let out a laugh.

He turned, and just as he was about to resume bombarding the rocks, his Shadow Attendant sent him a warning.

’Someone’s coming again?’

Li Wei turned and saw that Lilia had returned.

Looking down at her from his higher position, he asked, "What are you back for?"

Lilia said nervously, "Um... could you help me light a fire? I dropped my flint."

Li Wei: "..."

SNAP!

He snapped his fingers, and a flame appeared at his fingertip.

FWOOP!

The flame shot toward Lilia. She subconsciously wanted to dodge, but when she saw it was just a tiny flicker, she stopped herself from running away.

TSSSSS! CRACKLE POP!

The flame ignited the bird’s nest in Lilia’s hands, which began to give off white smoke.

Seeing this, Lilia quickly found a spot to put down the ignited nest.

WHOOSH!

In the blink of an eye, she was gone again.

Li Wei glanced at the burning bird’s nest Lilia had left on the ground, paid it no mind, and turned to continue bombarding the rocks.

KA-BOOM! KA-BOOM! KA-BOOM!

The sound of explosions once again echoed through the valley.

Mixed in was the sound of falling rocks.

After using up more than half of his Mana, Li Wei stopped to meditate and recover it.

He tried to avoid using too much Mana, lest he be caught in danger with none left to defend himself.

Once his Mana was fully restored, he ended his meditation.

SNIFF SNIFF...

Li Wei’s nose twitched. He caught the scent of something fragrant.

He opened his eyes and turned his head to see Lilia gnawing on a roasted egg that had burst open.

Beside her, a bonfire made from a pile of branches was burning.

She must have gone to find firewood when she disappeared earlier.

Seeing Lilia chewing with such satisfaction, Li Wei couldn’t help but feel a flicker of curiosity.

’Is it really that good?’

It smelled pretty good, but what did it actually taste like?

Lilia quickly picked up another freshly roasted egg and offered it to Li Wei.

"It’s delicious! So delicious!"

The Shadow Attendant took the roasted egg, cracked one end, and presented it to Li Wei.

Li Wei broke off a piece of the shell, which had some scorched egg white stuck to it.

He took a bite, frowned, and tossed the shell fragment away.

It wasn’t good. It had a gamey taste and was otherwise bland.

It only smelled good; the taste was unacceptable.

"Shadow Attendant, give it back to her."

The Shadow Attendant returned the roasted egg to Lilia.

Lilia must have been starving to think this was delicious.

Thinking of her experiences, Li Wei’s perspective shifted slightly.

He had once obtained Lilia’s memories, so he knew her past.

For some reason, even though Lilia worked hard on her missions, she was always broke.

She usually pinched every penny.

Perhaps for Lilia, these roasted eggs truly were a delicacy.

Lilia took the egg back from the Shadow Attendant and said reflexively, "Thank you."

The Shadow Attendant remained unmoved.
