As a mer... I cannot let a woman find trouble with me." After he finished speaking, he deliberately showed a pitiful look to Ruan Chanchan.

When Ruan Chanchan heard that Shao Xia was bothering Xie Daiyu, she was already half convinced, and the pitiful look only made Ruan Chanchan even more certain that the mer was speaking the truth. After she finished speaking, she walked away, leaving the two of them alone.

Ruan Chanchan watched the woman leave, and her shoulders sagged with relief. She didn’t like Shao Xia; she thought that the woman was too pretentious. Clearly, she was the one who broke up with Xia Daiyu, but now she was bothering him again. This woman really dreamed quite beautifully.

She turned to look at the mer behind her and cleared her throat. "Thank you. You saved me just now." She knew very well that if she were alone, then Shao Xia would have definitely beaten her up. Thinking like this, Ruan Chanchan turned worried once again. She hoped that the ginseng that she had put on the shelf to be sold would be sold sooner, or else she would have to live a life of a chicken trapped between the wolves.

"There is no need for you to thank me," said Xia Daiyu. "I should be the one thanking you. You just stood up for me."

Ruan Chanchan’s expression turned subtle when she heard the response of the mer. "Well, I don’t think that you needed my help." The mer seemed fully capable of dealing with Shao Xia; if anything, she might have just become an obstacle in between his fight with that woman.

Xia Daiyu’s expression softened. "Do you think you can handle the meat of blue birds?"

"Blue birds?" Ruan Chanchan frowned and repeated, as she had never heard about these blue birds before.

Xie Daiyu was a bit worried when he saw that Ruan Chanchan didn’t seem to be familiar with blue bird meat either. He lifted his arms and showed the two birds that looked like pheasants just a bit larger and said, "This is blue bird. Their meat is not as fishy and tough as the beasts’ meat. You can eat them without any worries."

When Ruan Chanchan saw the blue bird, she was quite surprised, and at the same time, she was a bit touched. It seemed like she misunderstood Xie Daiyu a little. The mer was really nice. At least he was willing to catch these birds for her after finding out that she couldn’t stomach the meat of the beasts.
