He licked his lips with anticipation and asked curiously, "Chanchan, what are you making? It smells really good."

Yuan Ni was not the only one who arrived at Ruan Chanchan’s cave; Nan Wu and Nan Zhi also came looking when they smelled the tempting scent wafting from her cave over to their own.
"What are you doing, Ruan Chanchan?" Nan Wu asked while curiously peering at the sausage that Ruan Chanchan had taken out.
Shao Xia looked at the small group of people that was surrounding Ruan Chanchan, and her expression turned sombre. She muttered unhappily, "Aren’t these just internal organs? What’s the point of gushing over them like this?" She then turned to look at the mer beside her and asked, "Are you not from the processing team? What do you think...can’t you make these things edible like Ruan Chanchan?"
The mer stiffened upon being questioned. He raised his head and looked at Ruan Chanchan, who was being surrounded by the rest of the tribe members and didn’t know what to say. He wanted to say that he could make the sausages with ease, but he didn’t see how Ruan Chanchan was making them just now. What was he going to do to make them?
However, with Shao Xia looking at him, he couldn’t bring himself to say that. He could only lower his head, but not before saying, "I can try."
"Then you should go and take the innards from the processing team," said Shao Xia. She was determined to snatch the limelight from Ruan Chanchan at any cost. It was bad enough that the woman had snatched Xie Daiyu from him; now she was also taking away the attention of the tribe from her. The mer nodded and just went to the processing team to get the internal organs. He then took them to the river to wash because he knew that Ruan Chanchan would never make anything without washing them. But his problem was that he didn’t know anything other than this!

Shao Xia didn’t want to get involved with the cooking process and stood far away. She simply watched the mer finish washing the innards and then stepped as far as possible. With Yan Hua not knowing what to do, he could only pick up the innards and then hurl them into the pot on the fire.
