The dinner with Amelia’s family didn’t end until almost 3 a.m., and it took another 30 minutes to get to Seraphina’s house. The exhaustion was starting to get to me, but I decided I wouldn’t give in easily.

Accepting defeat, she just shrugged and went to bed. Or rather, to nap, because in less than three hours, she would be waking up.
