Chapter 178: Game on!

Audrey sat on a chair with her legs crossed as she watched Lake discuss with his human business partners in the distance.

She knew no one there, so she chose to be by herself and wait for Lake.

She couldn’t wait for the night to be over so she could finally have Lake all herself.

"Look, that handsome man appeared alone tonight, he’s finally without that annoying bitch,"

Audrey heard a woman’s voice from a distance; she turned her head to her right and saw three women hungrily staring at Lake, their eyes portraying their internal thoughts.

"Do you think I can finally make my move?" A slim woman in a white dress asked shyly.

"Oh, Rebecca, I always knew you weren’t as meek as you appeared," Another lady in a green dress chuckled.

The third one scoffed, "I doubt he’d want you, Rebecca. Didn’t you see how his bitch looked? Not as slim as you, she was somewhere close to my size, but not still close, for no one could ever be like me," She swirled around, flaunting her deep curves, "You better stay back while I go for him, who knows, I don’t mind being his wife, as long as I get access to those billions," She chuckled.

The other ladies sighed, "Then we shall both go, Lora; whoever he picks is the winner, the loser will step down without a fuss," Rebecca suggested defiantly

Lora smiled, "Trust me, Rebecca, I didn’t leave my house dressed this way to lose to anyone," She flipped her hair over her shoulder.

"Want to join in the game, Caro?" Lora asked the third lady.

Caro shook her head, "Compete with you two? No, thanks. I’m doomed to fail," She swirled her wine and elegantly tilted the glass to her lips, taking a small sip.

Audrey felt her jealousy slowly start to rise within her but she suddenly got an idea.

’I could entertain myself a little,’

She gently uncrossed her legs and stood from her chair, slowly walking toward them.

"Hi, ladies," She greeted as she approached them.

The ladies frowned as they turned to see the person who had interrupted their chat.

"And who are you?" Lora asked with a raised brow, staring down at Audrey.

Audrey smiled sweetly, "Forgive my manners, I couldn’t help but eavesdrop on your earlier conversation. My name is Audrey, and just like you all, we have one common goal and enemy," she introduced.

"You like Mr. Aloha too, and you hate his girlfriend?" Caro asked, stepping closer to Audrey.

"Ah, the smart one," She muttered.

"Excuse me?" Rebecca blinked, staring at Audrey with a frown.

"Ah, you’re correct, Caro. I do like Mr. Aloha, and I would love to join in your game, may the best lady win," She smiled.

Why get upset over some harmless ladies who were just being themselves? They were not to blame; they’d been raised in a society where women were made to see men as the trophy; all they had to do was look pretty, dress nice, and make sure they attended every notable gala they heard of.

Lora scoffed, "Game on," She locked her eyes on Audrey and raised her glass of wine to her lips, slowly taking a sip.

Rebecca held her head up and went over to Lora, "He looks like he’s about to be done with those men; we’ll go to him," She whispered.

"Um, I don’t think it’s a good idea to get in a competition with those two, they’re quite mischievous," Caro said to Audrey in a quiet voice.

Audrey had her eyes on her man; she was going to drag him into this stupid game, too; she couldn’t have all the fun alone.

"It’s okay, as long as it’s a fair game; I won’t be mad if someone else wins," She replied.

"But I’m rooting for you. You know, my grandma used to read aura and future just by communicating with a person, and I know I might sound crazy, but I also learned it from her. I see a future with you and Mr. Aloha." Caro turned serious, "I mean, maybe you might not click with him immediately tonight, but I’m certain your paths will cross," She wanted to touch Audrey’s arm but Audrey subtly stepped hack.

"Oh, that’s a pretty awesome gift you have there, I feel more confident about the game, thank you," She chuckled.

She knew that it wasn’t uncommon for a few humans to possess the gifts of foresight, and she didn’t want to come in contact with Caro because she understood that those with such gifts got deeper insights when they touched their subjects. Of course, she could always block her thoughts from Caro, still, she would get a feeling.

Audrey didn’t want her to realize that she was already connected to Lake; she wanted the young lady to believe that her prophecy worked.

"Unlike the other lady, um, Melody, who always seemed to force herself on the poor man, I never felt a single connection between them; the girl is doomed for heartbreak," Caro frowned.

Audrey’s interest was piqued. "What about this Melody? Is she really his girlfriend?" Audrey sourced some tea.

"That one? She’s just a piece of rag; I bet he’ll forget about her after he tastes my heaven tonight," Lora replied, sashaying over to Audrey.

"Game time, sweethearts; looks like the demi-God is done with his boring partners," Lora narrowed her eyes at Audrey and walked away.

Rebecca sent Audrey a vixen smile and followed Lora away.

Audrey smiled at Caro, "I guess I have to go now. Thanks for your foresight." She nodded at Caro and elegantly walked off.

However, before the ladies reached Lake, Melody appeared from nowhere and approached him before they could, surprising them.

"Uh oh, I guess the game is over," Rebecca murmured as she stood beside Lora.

"That crazy woman, why is she following him?" Lora sneered.

"I love me some drama," Audrey whispered and approached the ladies, "What’s wrong? Why did you stop? Oh, I see. Hey, don’t let her stop us, it’s obvious he’s not into her; we might get lucky, come on," She fixed herself between them and placed her hands on their shoulders.

They looked reluctant but still allowed Audrey to lead them to Lake and Melody.

"Mr. Lake, I’ve been looking everywhere, I almost got lost in this big hall," Melody said as she hugged Lake’s arm.

Lake frowned and turned to her, "Melody, what are you doing here?" He subtly removed his hand from her.

"My father’s friend invited me. Why didn’t you tell me you were also coming here? We could have come together," She pouted.

He shook his head, "That won’t be necessary, I came with Audrey," He looked over to where Audrey was sitting and frowned when he couldn’t find her there anymore.

"Well, you see, she’s not reliable. And, I wasn’t talking about going out with a business partner, I meant going out with your girlfriend as a date -"

"Melody, I think it’s time we talked. I’ll need to speak to you about what we agreed on three years ago," He stated seriously.

"But -"

"Good evening, Mr. Aloha," Lora interrupted, smiling sweetly at Lake.

Melody frowned, snapping her face to her; however, her expression changed the moment she saw Audrey.

Lake was surprised to find Audrey between those ladies. ’What’s she playing at?’ He locked his eyes on her.

"Good evening, Mr. Aloha," Audrey stepped forward, ignoring Melody.

"Hey, what do you think you’re doing?" Rebecca held Audrey back, whispering to her, "No touching," She warned.

Audrey nodded, "Okay, no touching,"

She returned her face to Lake and smiled, "Mr. Aloha, we were wondering, which of us would you -"

"You," Lake smirked and stepped closer to her, surprising the women behind Audrey.

"Me?" Audrey gasped, covering her hand over her mouth and turning to look at Lora and Rebecca, "Oh my God, did you hear that? He said he’d take me home," She giggled.

"Would you go home with me, Miss?" Lake held her hand and kissed the back of it.

Audrey smiled, nodding her head. "Yes, Mr. Aloha, I would like to go home with you," She replied.

"I would be honored," Lake kissed Audrey’s cheek and placed a hand on her waist.

"I’m sorry to disappoint you, ladies. But I think I dared not choose someone else," he apologized to Lora and Rebecca.

"Wh- what? B-but I thought the other lady was your girlfriend?" Rebecca questioned with utter shock.

Melody bit her lips and looked away in shame; she knew she had done a great job at spreading a fake rumor that Lake was her fiancé, but now that he had chosen another woman in front of her, she knew that gossip was about to reach every eager ear.

Lake looked at Meoldy and sighed, "She’s just a friend. If you’d excuse us, ladies, we have something to do," Lake winked at them and led Audrey away.

Audrey sent the ladies a wide grin as Lake led her away.

She didn’t forget to look over at Caro with a victorious smile; Caro gave her a knowing smile, winking at her and happy that her prophecy had manifested.

"You’ve been naughty, Kitten; you’re getting punished hard tonight," Lake whispered to Audrey as he led her back to their table.

Audrey bit her lips seductively, "Try me, Alpha," She placed a hand on his thigh under the table, causing him to freeze.
