Chapter 631: Chapter 631. 1st Mission

Meanwhile, in the shadow expanse.

Several shadow creatures were currently seated in a villa in their obsidian humanoid forms. They were in the living room of the villa.

Seated in their middle was a feminine, fair, petite figure, munching on sandwiches with each passing second. No one dared to sit too close to her. Even the Lord had to give this mysterious lady some face. Who were they to be familiar with her?

Their eyes were glued to a screen at the moment.

They were watching a drama.

At the moment, it was at the climax. So, everyone was deeply invested in it.

However, occasional glances could be directed towards three individuals seated among the group.

These glances were very hostile.

Hound 1, Hound 2, and Hound 3 sighed.

Ever since the Lord started involving them a lot in his operations for tactical reasons—due to their ability to remain unseen by others regardless of ranks—the others felt very envious and "bitter" of them.

Chief among them were Feral, EverFrost, Vengeful, and Avarice.

"You guys are guarding the mistress and the Lord’s other loved ones. It’s not like you are left out of his operations or anything," Hound 1 said, voice brimming with mockery.

Hound 3 added before Hound 2, who was shaking on the floor in laughter, could say anything, "Yeah, it’s not our fault that our abilities are too exceptional."

Vengeful, the leader of all the shadow creatures, snorted coldly. She said, "Perhaps you three are forgetting something really important: that I’m your senpai." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Her figure flashed.

Chaos erupted in the living room.

Law attacks flared to life.

As the shadow creatures were duking it out like a bunch of mindless children throwing tantrums, the Time Dilation Artifact sat in her spot, completely nonchalant to their actions.

One sandwich fell into her mouth after another as she kept watching the movie.

She didn’t interfere in their squabbles, which had been going on for a very long time.

She actually found their behavior entertaining.

Kailen and Legoland had arrived at a hotel.

This time, they had booked different suites.

Legoland had managed to woo one receptionist he wanted to have some "alone time" with.

Currently, Kailen was going through the list of missions in the Secondary Carrier Alliance Society.

He ignored the missions with normal and medium difficulty levels. He had to settle for missions with high difficulty levels because none were labeled impossible.

Kailen wanted to enter the imperial capital, make use of the dense universe energy there, while implementing his plan as soon as possible when he got there.

The best way to do that was to take on terrifying missions, get on the hall of fame list, and move to the imperial capital.

[The Usmond Clan is in need of a rank 7 runesmith with a purity level of at least 90 percent to assist several rank 8 runesmiths in the making of a special protective rune array for the clan estate.

Difficulty level – High.

Reward – 100 energy orbs]

"This one is perfect."

Kailen chose this mission.

A man was currently seated in a living room. He had blonde hair. He was clad in a long robe and had a satisfied expression on his face.

He was watching a particular video trending in the solar system.

Finally, his daughter had met her match.

That girl was too unbridled and obnoxious.

"You seem to be enjoying yourself, husband," a feminine voice wafted in his ears.

"You don’t say... hehe. Come, look at this."

He felt a soft sensation on his lap.

His wife was sitting on his lap now.

She stared at the screen and started laughing. "This girl finally met her match. Serves her right for always poking in other people’s business."

"Well, we spoiled her since she was a child," the man sighed.

"Yeah, Ric," she said. "You think the young man can help us with the rune array?"

The man sighed. "I don’t think so, Mara. On a serious note, Shaltear sort of offended him."

"You have a point," Mara said. "But he’s the first rank 7 runesmith with a rune skill Proficiency that meets the requirement. The rank 8 runesmiths are all saying only an extremely skilled rank 7 runesmith can help them work on that particular part of the array. We need to get it done, or our rival clans will keep sending assassins anyway, anyhow, into our estate."

"I know, Mara. It’s just..."

Before the man could finish, a figure flashed and appeared before him.

It was the chief butler of the clan.

"Sir, Madam. Very sorry to invade your privacy," the man spoke with urgency and fervor.

The couple nodded. Their chief butler was not just their butler but a loyal friend. Also, he would not barge in just like that. This was actually the first time he had done this.

It meant whatever reason he had come here was very urgent.

"A rank 7 runesmith has arrived to help with the array."

The moment the couple heard that, they sighed.

Several rank 7 runesmiths had come to try in the past, thinking the requirement of a rune skill Proficiency of at least 90 percent was some sort of joke. They left with disgrace.

The butler naturally knew what the Master and Mistress were thinking.

He had felt the same way when one of the butlers under him reported this to him until he saw the person.

"I assume there’s more you have to say, my friend?" Ric added.

"Yes, sir. The rank 7 runesmith is the nomad, Karag Anvilheart."

The eyes of the couple widened in surprise.

Karag Anvilheart... but didn’t their daughter offend him?

A glint of realization flashed through the eyes of the couple.

"We really underestimated that young man. He was not offended by what our daughter did. He deemed her childish and beneath him," Mara said.

"Although it sounds insulting to our daughter when you put it like that, it’s the truth, and it works in our favor," Ric added.

He turned to the chief butler. "Old friend, kindly get him to the guest hall. I will be meeting him shortly."
