Chapter 633: Chapter 633. Aftermath

The ranking board of the Runesmith Association of the Infa Solar System was a very large holographic panel, floating in several halls and centres of the association.

There were several large panels floating in the sky.

The rankings glitched at the moment. A name replaced another name in the 30th ranking:

Karag Anvilheart.

Was this not the fellow with a rune skill proficiency of almost 94 percent? This fast? This dude... what kind of mission did he take on?

Many runesmiths checked the mission list. One of the high-difficulty level missions was flagged "Completed"—the one several prodigious rank 7 runesmiths in the solar system did not dare to try.

They say that even a rank 7 runesmith with a rune skill proficiency of 90 percent attempted the mission a hundred years ago. However, the person failed. Helping those rank 8 runesmiths complete that array required a certain level of understanding of runesmithery that even that rank 7 runesmith lacked.

The Usmond Clan has been desperate about this situation for a while now; their rival clans kept infiltrating their estate, attempting various assassinations on them for the past hundred years. But, it seemed that would no longer be a problem.

Also, Karag Anvilheart had actually done something else: he had slapped Shaltear Usmond in the face with this accomplishment.

Several hours ago, she had openly declared that he would not be able to climb the ranks and overtake her in the Runesmith Association rankings. However, he had literally taken her exact spot by completing a mission that benefited her family greatly.

Karag Anvilheart had not just slapped her in the face; he had trampled on her.

Many felt like this was Karag Anvilheart’s revenge on her. Others felt like it was a different situation; Karag Anvilheart was only trying to complete a mission for the Runesmith Association. There were rumors that he wanted to stay in the Imperial Capital, after all. He simply took on one of the high-difficulty missions that were available, to help him achieve his goal quickly.

But one thing was certain: Shaltear Usmond had become a laughing stock in secret gatherings and personal conversations. Although no one dared to say it to her face—because of her strength and her background—she was seen as someone who had overestimated herself and offended the wrong person.

She was now considered unruly. There were even rumors that several in her social circle had distanced themselves from her overnight.

They were not stupid, after all. With the way things were fairing, Karag Anvilheart may as well appear on the Runesmith Association Hall of Fame of the empire sooner or later and enter into the Imperial Galaxy. Although it sounded absurd, it was not impossible; the mission he had completed had erased many doubts about him.

And if he indeed entered the Imperial Galaxy, he would not be someone they would want to offend. If he held a grudge against Shaltear Usmond in the future and they were associated with her, they would be swept into the wave of her demise.

Karag Anvilheart... Many were anticipating what kind of mission he will take on next, and what the outcome will be.

At the moment, the focus of discussions was seated in a cultivation chamber in his suite. 100 energy orbs were floating before him.

Apart from that, he had obtained 1,000 universe coins and a rank 7 concealment rune-inscribed artifact for completing the mission. The universe coins and the rank 7 concealment artifact didn’t mean much to him, but the energy orbs? That was what mattered to him.

Kailen quickly closed his eyes and activated his elemental mirroring. He started absorbing the universe energy in the energy orbs and in the environs. Very soon, all the universe energy in the environs gravitated into his body. The energy orbs started shrinking at a rapid pace, too.

Several moments passed in a flash.

Kailen finally opened his eyes and stopped cultivating after he was done absorbing the universe energy in the environs. When he came out of his cultivation room, Legoland was currently seated in Kailen’s living room.

"Way to cause an uproar," Legoland said.

Kailen replied, "Hard to keep a low profile."

"Hehe," Legoland laughed. "Says the fellow who deceived a whole sect with a fake identity."

Kailen shook his head. This Legoland guy was really humorous. His humorous nature reminded Kailen of Charles, and his perceptive edge reminded Kailen of Zarek.

"Anyway, why are you really here? I thought you had a visitor in your suite?" Kailen asked.

"Oh, she’s still there, waiting for me. However, I came here because I just got some intelligence from the dark web you may need to know before you take on your next missions," Legoland said. "Some of the rival clans of the Usmond Clan may hold some grudges against you. The runic array you helped their rank 8 runesmiths to complete has destroyed their plans, after all. Naturally, there are some who are sensible enough to see the bigger picture by not offending you because of the possibility of you getting into the Imperial Galaxy."

Kailen nodded. He rubbed his forehead with a sigh. "More headache to deal with, I suppose. But I can handle that much."

Legoland said, "I suppose I cannot join you on missions, then? Even as a bodyguard?"

Kailen nodded. "Yeah. The association will flag the mission as incomplete even if you complete it—as long as you have the assistance of someone else, even if it’s protection and not directly tied to the mission."

Legoland sighed. "I see." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"Can you give me the list of clans who may be targeting me?" Kailen’s eyes flashed with coldness. It was better to get rid of them before he took on any missions for the association to avoid unnecessary trouble.

"What are you planning?" Legoland shook his head. This guy was very dangerous to have as an enemy.

Kailen merely shrugged. He was not gonna reveal his plan; he intended to handle this alone. Legoland respected that. He sent the list of clans targeting Karag Anvilheart to Kailen.

After that, he left for his suite, leaving the Mad Tactician to weave his machinations.
