HEIRESS REBORN: MARRYING HER EX-FIANCÉ-Chapter 21: End of the board meeting (2)
’Sam mentioned that he’s not as simple as he seemed on the surface.’
Ayana recalled the information that she had gotten about her first cousin.
If she had known, she wouldn’t have isolated Noah from the family, just as her uncle and his family had done in her past life.
Truly, her ex-fiancé had been right at that time. Her first cousin had hidden himself too deeply. Perhaps that was the only way for him to survive and solve his incurable illness on his own.
’’......’’
A few steps behind, Ayana’s words had instantly silenced Mr. Dixon.
’Is she truly a twelve-year-old?’ He wondered to himself, and also remembered that he was talking with a twelve-year-old. Recalling their previous conversations, he suddenly realized that a twelve-year-old might not necessarily have interacted with him in such manner.
In fact, a twelve-year-old wouldn’t have done what the young miss had done in the board meeting.
’I did hear that children would sometimes mature faster after an unforgettable tragedy.’
In the young miss’s case, it was the early and unfortunate death of her parents. Which child could ever forget the death of their parents?
The young miss must want to mature early and take responsibilities in the place of her dead parents. It also didn’t help that the young master was still a baby.
’’Please make an arrangement with the sales and marketing department’s head, Mr. Dixon.’’ Those words drew the attention of Mr. Dixon, and he listened carefully. ’’I will speak with the principal about having online classes and I will meet with my first cousin. Once I have done the necessary arrangements at home, I make a call to you and start my first day at the sales and marketing department.’’
’’As you wish, young miss.’’ Mr. Dixon readily agreed to those words as they stepped inside the elevator.
’It’s good if the young miss gets involve in the affairs of the Kingston corporation, anyway. As long as she has the best interest at heart and doesn’t give way to the Eldest Master, I am perfectly with following her.’ Mr. Dixon inwardly decided as he pressed the control buttons that would take the elevator down to the first floor, which was also the reception.
’If the first young master is not trustworthy, then she can smoothly take over the position when it’s time. I’ll just have to watch him closely and report any suspicions.’ Mr. Dixon pushed his glasses upward with vivid determination and started preparing for the arrival of the rumored sickly young master as his new boss.
*Ding!*
The elevator doors slid open and Ayana stepped out, with Mr. Dixon naturally following behind. The pair instantly attracted attention from the bustling employees, like the first time they had stepped into the building.
’’That’s the young miss Kingston?’’
’’Of course, that’s her. Who else would Mr. Dixon escort personally?’’
’’It’s my first time seeing her.’’
’’Is she the heir?’’
’’I heard the heir is still a baby.’’
’’Then what’s she doing here?’’
’’I also saw the Eldest Master earlier. He seemed a little angry.’’
’’I wonder what’s happening?’’
’’....!’’
’’Shhh! Mr. Dixon is looking this way!’’
While Mr. Dixon glared at the nosy and murmuring employees warningly, Ayana paid little to no attention to their whispers, just like when she had entered at the beginning.
’It seemed Noah doesn’t live with his family. I should ask Sam to find out his address for me.’ Her mind was more focused on visiting her first cousin, and how her bodyguard Sam could help with that.
’I honestly don’t know what I’ll do without Sam.’ Ayana let out a small sigh as she passed through the exit door of the towering building.
If it weren’t for her past life, she wouldn’t have necessarily noticed Sam. Just like Paige, her Nanny’s granddaughter, Sam had also warned her against the evil intentions of her uncle and his family.
The strangest thing was that Sam seemed to have been leaving the Kingston family at that moment with his casual dressing, not his suit.
Then, she had been in a shopping mall purchasing romantic gifts when was fifteen-years-old. Sam had blocked her way once she stepped out with the shopping bags. Unlike her current life, Sam had been a total stranger to her and so she instantly insulted him as a deceptive servant after his words.
The next time she had seen Sam was with her ex-fiancé. He was a bodyguard who her ex-fiancé would send to bring her food and other necessities in the hospital. Perhaps due to her poor situation and frequent recollection of the past, she instantly recognized Sam as one of the people who had seen through the bad intentions of her relatives.
’’Were you also a bodyguard working for the Kingston family?’’ That had been her only question and words to him.
’’Yes, young miss.’’ And those were his only words to her.
Now, she took advantage of Sam still working for the Kingston family in this life. With his honest and upright character, and efficient duty, she could understand why her ex-fiancé had recruited Sam to work for him.
Though, she wouldn’t be letting go of Sam anytime. He was working for the Kingston family first, anyway.
’I wonder why he left back then.’ This was what Ayana couldn’t figure out. If Sam had pitied her to the point of warning her, why had he left her alone in the Kingston family back then?
If that wasn’t his choice, then had her uncle done something? If so, why?
Ayana did not notice that she had already stopped on the spot, drawing the attention of Mr. Dixon, and her brows furrowed in deep thoughts.
Her Nanny and Paige’s dismissals were understandable, but why had uncle dismissed a bodyguard?
’It’s embarrassing to say, but I used to do errands like this, young miss.’ Sam had once told her when she asked how he had gotten hold of a such detailed information about Madam May.
’’Young miss?’’ Ayana blinked twice at that voice, snapping out of her deep thoughts.
’’Sorry, I was lost in thoughts, Mr. Dixon.’’ She apologized with a sheepish smile when she saw the worried eyes of Mr. Dixon.
’Anyway, Sam is now working for me. It will be easier to find out the truth about mother and father’s accident, and also the evidence that uncle had orchestrated it.’ Her gaze darkened as her thoughts collided with Mr. Dixon’s words.
’’It’s alright, you have been standing on the spot for a while now, and your mind seemed elsewhere. I was getting worried.’’
’’I apologize.’’
’’It’s fine, young miss. It’s just....someone has been waiting for you.’’
’’Huh?’’ Confused, Ayana noticed how Mr. Dixon directed his gaze forward. She trailed after his eyes and sighted a bodyguard standing not too far from them.
’Who.....?’ Ayana wondered, noting how the bodyguard did not have the letter K crest of Kingston family’s on his suit. That also meant that the bodyguard was not working with the Kingston family.
Perhaps hearing her thoughts, the bodyguard closed the distance between them and respectfully delivered his message.
’’The first young master request to have a meeting with the young miss.’’
A bodyguard from other families would refer her as Young miss Kingston. An unknown bodyguard who referred her as young miss must be working for someone in the Kingston family.
Other than Jason, who was still a baby, there was only one Young master Kingston, who was by far older than him, and was referred as first young master.
Noah Kingston.
Her first cousin, whom she had awaiting his reply for quite a while.
