HEIRESS REBORN: MARRYING HER EX-FIANCÉ-Chapter 23: Noah Kingston (2)
’’.....’’
As expected, her first cousin would not make this easy for her. His words were sharp and blunt, straight to the point without giving her face.
’’If you’re trying to make a joke out of my unfortunate life, I expect you to grow some sense and stop at once, cousin.’’ His gaze sharpened with a warning. ’’Do not needlessly waste my time if you have nothing to say.’’
’’.....’’
In response, Ayana lowered her gaze in silence. Whether unable to stand his glare or the guilt of manipulating him through his health condition, she remained silence in thoughts.
’I need to convince him.’ She released a small sigh.
Ayana knew that she needed to convince Noah. She needed to make him to believe that she wasn’t the same rude cousin as before, and was not wasting his time.
’’The Easmond family.’’ She raised her gaze with a question. ’’Noah should know the background of that family, right?’’
’’.....’’
Regardless of his silence, she continued. ’’I have a verbal engagement with the grandson of President Kratos, and he has a close relationship with the Young master of the Easmond family. The Young master Easmond is the only one that can cure your illness, Noah.’’ She finished with an obvious conviction.
Her words weren’t without just evidence, but with experience as well.
The Easmond family was similar to the Kingston and Kratos family. Rather than business, the Easmond family gained their standings through the medical field.
It was rumored that their first ancestor personally served an emperor of one of the previous ancient dynasties as his personal imperial physician. His medical skills were also said to have been passed down through his bloodline and inherited by his descendants. Thus, the Easmond family came about as a reputed family with famed medical experts.
The family had also built hospitals under their name in several states of the country with good reputations of their own.
’’The young master of the Easmond family?’’ Of course, Noah knew the background of the Easmond family. ’’Isn’t he rumored to be a good-for-nothing playboy young master? Are you sure that you are not talking about the young miss of the Easmond family?’’ His eyes flashed with confusion as he recalled some memories about his experience with the Easmond family.
’’Sometimes, rumors can’t be trusted, Noah.’’ Ayana responded in a vague sentence. She neither agreed nor denied his words. If she were to tell Noah everything, what could she use to make a bargain with him?
’’.....’’ Of course, Noah understood the information came at a cost. A cost that his cousin had laid out before him and make his choice.
’The Easmond family....’ Noah inwardly weighed his options.
The name of the Easmond family wasn’t new to him. With such a reputed background, he had definitely tried his luck with them and requested to see the rumored medical genius of the Easmond family.
Their Young miss Easmond.
However, he was blatantly rejected by the latter.
According to her words, his illness was out of the scope of her knowledge, which was amusing because they hadn’t met as doctor and patient, so how could she have known that his illness was out of her expertise?
Did she make her diagnosis from the rumors?
How funny.
Immediately, Noah had canceled out the Easmond family from his search for a cure to his illness. Now, his cousin was telling him that the young master might be the person he had been looking for, and not the young miss, their rumored medical genius.
’’How can I trust your words, cousin?’’ Although their relationship wasn’t the best, Noah could never deny any form of assistance from anyone, even if it were to be his estranged family.
’’Meet up with him first.’’ Ayana immediately answered. ’’I will be seeing President Kratos in the future, and perhaps his grandson. I can make a request to see the young master of the Easmond family.’’
’If not, I can try another way.’ She finished in her heart and observed the blank expression of her first cousin.
This offer was Ayana’s confidence in winning her first cousin over. Though it was shameless of her to use his illness, Ayana tried not to care too much.
To survive the upcoming battles with her uncle and her other enemies, she needed to be ruthless to exploit the weakness of others, even if it meant her own family.
’’In return, please be ready to take on the position as the president soon. I made a deal with President Kratos and the shareholders that you will be tested, Noah.’’ She added with an offer. ’’You can push back the custody until after the meetup with the young master of Easmond family and the results of your illness.’’
This was the limit of her generosity. She couldn’t concede any less.
A moment of silence passed until Noah acted on his curiosity once more.
’’ Why do you trust me so much, Ayana?’’ He changed his address from cousin to her name. ’’Aren’t you wary that I will take the position for myself and my father?’’ He probed, not understanding why his cousin seemed to believe him this much.
If Noah were to say he was never tempted by the offer, it would be a lie. Even if the young master Easmond did not turn out as his cousin believed, the Kratos family was still there. Ayana had revealed an agreement that was yet to be known to others just for him to agree to her proposal.
Through her, he could build a business relationship with them and broadened his search for a cure to his illness.
Despite all these offers that favored him, he couldn’t understand why she chose him over his father. Unlike the rest of his family, they weren’t obviously close to each other.
Noah knew from firsthand experience that his father loved power and wealth very much. He knew how that man wanted to be President of the Kingston corporation more than anything.
If he were to become the president, his father would surely try to rekindle their father-son relationship, and snatch the position from him one way or the other.
Didn’t his cousin believe that he might willingly give his father the position in return for some fatherly love?
’’N.K company.’’
’’....!’’
"It’s yours, isn’t it?" Ayana smiled knowingly, noticing the flicker of surprise in Noah’s eyes.
Just like her ex-fiancé had told her, her cousin had hidden himself too deeply in the family.
N.K company.
An electronic company that had been developed by cousin three years ago, when he was eighteen years old.
If she recalled, N.K products were quite popular in her past life. Though she didn’t remember the timeline, Ayana distinctly remembered using their kitchen appliances frequently, leaving her with a favorable impression.
According to Sam’s investigation, N.K. Company had caught the attention of numerous investors, and the owner was seated right in front of her eyes and bearing the same surname as herself.
’’If uncle were to find out that his son was the owner of such company, who knows what he might do.’’
’’You’re threatening me?’’ Noah chuckled at those words. Even if he was being threatened by a twelve-year-old nonetheless, he found the situation amusing.
His cousin must have done her investigations very well. This also showed that she had truly changed and wasn’t just that arrogant cousin of his in the past
"Not exactly. Consider it more of a warning," Ayana replied, a small smile playing on her lips. ’’Besides, I personally know the relationship between you and your family. You aren’t one who would let them take advantage of you. And let’s not forget—your only chance for a cure is at stake here, Noah."
In her past life, there was no mention of Noah’s name as the owner of the N.K company or her uncle finding out about such information.
’I didn’t even know that you brought up a company back then.’ She thought to herself. Then again, she hadn’t been close to Noah, unlike the rest of his family. In this life, it was through Sam’s investigations that she knew of Noah’s company.
This made him more qualified to handle the Kingston corporation in her stead rather than his scheming father. Mr. Dixon was also there to assist him and keep an eye on him.
’’You seem overly confident that I won’t refuse your offer, cousin.’’ Noah remarked, his eyes narrowing slightly.
’’If I wasn’t, you wouldn’t have listened to my words this patiently.’’ Ayana calmly shot back.
’’So, do we have a deal, Noah?’’ She asked after a moment.
Noah lowered his gaze in thoughts as he carefully considered their entire conversation.
Another moment of silence passed until he looked up, his expression softer than before.
"...Deal."
