Hellbound With The Vampire King-Chapter 100: Meeting The High Priest (5)
Chapter 100: Meeting The High Priest (5)
A chuckle escaped from Eiravyn’s lips at her comic reaction, "Did you notice anything, My sweet girl?"
Serena eyes turned wide, and she stared at Eiravyn, who was looking down at her with amazement in his eyes. She didn’t understand the logic behind this. All her life she had been made to believe that vampires didn’t have heart and they were cold-blooded, that they couldn’t even come out in the afternoon, but she was getting one shock after another. Not only could vampires actively come out in the afternoon.
But just now, when she touched Eiravyn’s chest, she was surprised to find a beating heart. What was happening? Was everything a lie? To witness this in person was really insane.
Serena looked up to meet his eyes. He had a teasing smile on his lip when he said. "Do you have any more questions?"
She looked at him, wondering if he was kidding her. Of course, he knew she had questions, "This... how come about it?"
Eiravyn could not hold back the laughter that came next when he heard Serena innocent question, with his head thrown backwards, he laughed to his heart content. Wiping at invisible tear drops from the corners of his eyes. The sound was strong and calm, before he turned to face his kitten.
Serena wanted to smile as she watched him laughing, even throwing his head back as if he had heard the most thrilling tale of his life, but she just couldn’t, because she felt like Eiravyn was probably mocking her. She huffed at him and made a annoyed face. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"What’s so funny?" You were the one to ask me if I had other questions, only for you to turn your words back at me. How unfair." She mumbled, "Don’t tell me anymore I’m no longer curious." Serena added with a little pout.
A wicked smile appeared back on Eiravyn’s face, "No need to look upset, My sweet little kitten." She heard Eiravyn say while he came to stand in front of her. "I just love your cute reactions."
Without waiting for Serena respond, he added. "And now to answer to your question. We pure-blooded vampires are very different from turned vampires, most of the tales and fact in the human realm about Vampires are recorded by these turned vampires who knows barely anything about pure-bloods, since they don’t belong in a vampire kingdom. They are considered roque vampires, kitten."
"Now, let’s go, I’m sure the high priest is dieing to have us."replied Eiravyn to her.
As he realized that the time was not on their side, and there were still a lot left unsaid but it couldn’t be helped. Serena eyes went back to see that Eiravyn had started walking, his hands gently tugging hers to move along with him.
She sniffed the jasmine and spotted the vibrantly Gelso root. The whole area looked like a meadow full of wildflowers, and Serena thought it was fantastic.
After a moment of walking in the calm garden, with lush flowers, she felt the need to explore the dense garden to see where it ends, but judging Eiravyn’s determined gaze, she was sure, he would not permit, so she didn’t bother asking. The place was really calming.
As Eiravyn and Serena approached the cabin of the high priest that was nestled between trees and high bushes, Serena noticed that the front door was tightly shut. She looked around the small cabin and was about knocking, when she felt a subtle movement beside her.
Without removing his hold on her, Eiravyn stretched his other hand and pushed the door wide open without knocking. This startled Serena and she immediately turned to look at Eiravyn.
"Eiravyn, wait. You shouldn’t..." Serena was about to say when she felt Eiravyn move beside her, but it was too late, as the man already pushed the door before she could complete her sentence. It was very rude to barge into someone’s home without the owner’s permission but it looked like Eiravyn didn’t care.
The door opened to a dimly lit room, that looked like a cavern, lit only by a single oil lamp set in a latticed alcove on the wall. Curlicues of fragrant smoke from exotic incense drifted from the chimney, and it past her nose, Serena sneezed, as the smoke was black and smelt potent.
She was surprised at the sight in front of her as she stepped foot into the high priest chambers, or was it his cabin?
"Where is this smoke coming from and why does it smell awful? Serena mumbled out the words as she covered her mouth, she really didn’t intend to voice out her thoughts, but this place reeked of so many things and she didn’t know which one to pin point first.
She looked around the place in wonder, and wondered if the high priest was performing a ritual when they entered. There were runes and symbols etched onto the ground that formed a pattern in a zigzag formation, Serena spotted dried herbs and bones hanging from beams.
On the walls were ancient tomes, and mystical artifacts hung on the wall, when she turned to look at her other side of the wall. She saw mirrors and wondered what was their uses, as they were more than three, with different sizes. What struck her the most was that she could smell the scent of fresh blood, and the beat of a racing heart. It was erratical and uneven.
True to Eiravyn’s word, the whole place was surprisingly warm and she wondered why the place was hot. When she heard Eiravyn’s grunt.
"How many times must I tell you to make your home a little bit presentable when you have guests coming, Fei?" His voice sounded beside her, and Serena looked around the room, wondering if someone is in the room with them, because she couldn’t sense any other person present apart from the both of them, but she was sure Eiravyn was not talking to her, as he was facing away from her as if there was another person in the room.
This made Serena take a step back in fear, one thing she hated the most is to be creeped out like this, she hated unexpected movements.
Before she could ask Eiravyn who he was talking to. Someone suddenly appeared from one door in the other room, holding a candlelight in his hands, the light from the candle illuminated his features as it made him look creepy.
