Hellhound At Supernatural Academy-Chapter 23: Alliance
Chapter 23: Alliance
"An alliance?" Liam asked, a puzzled look on his face. "What brought this on all of a sudden?"
"My classmates are having trouble finding partners for the special exercise the school has coming up. I'd like to form an alliance with you to help make sure they find partners."
"If you want my classmates to partner with yours, I'll be happy to help, but you're going to need the cooperation of the other classes too."
"That shouldn't be a problem for you."
Liam leaned back in his seat, understanding the implication behind my words.
"I see. You want me to negotiate with the other classes on our behalf. That's quite a big favor to ask."
"It should be simple enough for you since you basically control all the first-year classes—well, all except one: Class D. That's why you already knew the reason I called you and why you showed up late in the first place. You seem like a good person, but you're actually quite cunning. I wouldn't be surprised if you orchestrated things so that my classmates couldn't find partners."
"You're wrong. I don't control the other first-year classes. We just have an alliance—an alliance that your class isn't a part of. I must admit, I was curious about what you would do. I mean, you didn't even organize your class after defeating Rizor. I was—"
"Did Finn tell you that?" I interrupted.
"Finn?" Sarah asked, surprised that her boyfriend's name had suddenly come up.
"I must say, I'm surprised by your insight," Liam continued. "I didn't think you'd be this perceptive."
"I knew you were plotting against us from the start," I said. "The truth is that you and Rizor were colluding all along. I found it strange when you refused to lead our class when Jeffrey asked."
"It's not like that. Yes, Rizor and I made a deal that he would take over your class, but he took things too far. I never thought he would actually hurt you guys. At the start of the school year, our class had confrontations about who should lead us. That's what happens when you put highly ambitious people in one class. Rizor suggested that we form an alliance that would allow me to become the leader of our class as long as I helped him claim Class C and D. I refused after I saw what he did to you guys."
"Don't paint Liam out to be the bad guy. He was just trying to help," Mia spoke up in his defense.
"She's right. Don't forget everything he did to try to help you," another person, Ava, chimed in.
Both girls glared at me as if I had spat in their coffee. It was slightly irritating how they always defended him like mindless drones. At this point I couldn't tell which one was his girlfriend.
"Sin isn't in the wrong either!" Wait, it can't be—Sarah. "It's unfair for you to shift the blame like that. The fact is that Liam was careless in partnering with Rizor, and our class had to suffer for it. We had to deal with your guys' mess. Don't act like you're such a good guy for helping to fix a mess you created."
I was left speechless. I never imagined Sarah, of all people, would speak up in my defense. I was truly touched. Even though I didn't care whose fault it was, I was still grateful for her support. I found myself cracking a small smile.
"She's right; it is my fault, and I'm sorry. I should've been more careful when dealing with Rizor."
"Back to the matter at hand," I said, ignoring Liam's apology. "I want to form an alliance with your class, where you'll provide partners for the students in my class who are unable to partner up with the other classes."
"As I said, it won't be easy. Most of the class leaders don't trust you."
The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.
"But they trust you, which is why it's called an alliance. What aren't you getting?"
"You're the one who doesn't get it. I don't have as much control over the entire first-year classes as you think. It would be nearly impossible for me to convince the other leaders to partner with your class. To them, you're an anomaly. And it didn't help that you've acted like nothing happened for days."
"Sorry, I wasn't familiar with the procedure for taking over a class."
"Ptfff," Sarah let loose a small chuckle.
"That's why it's important for you to meet the leaders."
That sounded like a hassle.
"How about I send a representative from my class? Sarah here would do an excellent job. Or I could send Finn; I'm sure you're familiar with him."
"Again, what is it about Finn?" Sarah asked, surprised to hear his name for the second time in our conversation.
"Nothing special," I replied. "He's just a very capable guy."
There was no point in telling Sarah that her boyfriend was colluding with the enemy; it would make excellent blackmail material later on.
"What is this girl to you anyway?" Liam asked. "From what I heard, she's in a relationship with Finn from your class. So why are the two of you together?"
"She's my partner."
"Partner? In any case, it has to be you who meets with the leaders, and you need to make friends with them too. It's the only way they'll allow your classmates to partner with them. I'll set up the meeting for you. Just try to be polite and speak on equal footing with them, from one leader to another. This is what's best for your classmates if you want them to have a peaceful life at this school."
"Fine. When will this meeting be held?"
"If all goes well, then after school."
I was playing right into his hands. Bullshit—he can't get the other classes to agree to the alliance. I've purposely kept my distance from the other class leaders; this was his way of dragging me out into the open. It's probably his method of ensuring the other classes don't turn against Class D. It's his way of protecting us. Why can't he just mind his own business?
His good-guy routine is beginning to get on my nerves.
