Help! I unknowingly enrolled myself into a supernatural Academy-Chapter 80: You’re Crazy
Carl knew better than to voice his actual thoughts to the enraged Fae standing over him. How am I supposed to know what exactly Ryker and Aiden have been doing together indoors since? He swallowed the question and offered the most neutral answer he could muster.
"Maybe they are talking about some important thing about our cleaning duty tomorrow morning, there are so much for us to do, so they are probably talking about that" Carl suggested meekly, hoping the Fae would accept the answer and leave him in peace, because he does not know how Zane expect him to know what Aiden and Ryker are talking about, it’s not like he lives in both ryker’s and Aiden’s mind for him to know their conversation.
Zane, however, wasn’t truly seeking information from Carl. He knew that Carl was useless in this regard, especially since the boy was completely oblivious to the fact that Ryker likes Aiden, people only knew about the incident of Aiden talking to Ryker and Ryker ignoring him,but they sure don’t know that the two likes each other.
But Zane knows that, which is exactly what is causing him to be frustrated right now. The mental image of Ryker hugging Aiden, perhaps even kissing him, and the agonizing thought that Aiden might not be resisting, was driving him insane. He found the very idea of Ryker and Aiden together to be a painful eyesore.
He needed to stop that image from becoming reality. With a sudden, decisive action, Zane made up his mind. He would go to Aiden’s room.
"Once you’re done making my bed, you can leave," Zane instructed Carl curtly. With the dismissal given, Zane left the room, moving swiftly toward the part of the derelict building where Aiden had claimed as his temporary bedroom till the end of their punishment.
Upon reaching the door to Aiden’s temporary bedroom, the concept of knocking didn’t even register in Zane’s mind.
He employed the mode of a suspicious, jealous husband attempting to catch an adulterous couple in the very act of cheating. He shoved the creaky, barely bolted door open with a single, forceful push and entered the room forcefully.
Zane definitely did not like what he saw.
Inside the quiet room, Ryker was lying beside Aiden, his gaze cool and rigid as he looked directly at the intruder as if he had already been expecting him. Aiden was sleeping peacefully, tucked safely against Ryker’s side, his arms even curled around the Alpha’s chest in an intimate hug. Ryker’s arm was draped protectively over Aiden’s back.
Rage exploded in Zane’s chest. "You bastard," he snarled, taking a step into the room, it was taking every willpower in him to not move towards Ryker to yank him away from Aiden’s side.
Ryker’s eyes narrowed, turning ice cold. The irony of the situation was thick: he hadn’t even gone to seek out Zane yet to settle the score over the unwanted kiss, and Zane had walked right into his territory.
Ryker’s supernatural hearing had picked up on Zane’s heavy footsteps long before the Fae reached the door. Ryker had briefly entertained the naive thought that Zane wouldn’t be so rude as to open someone else’s door, that he would simply stand there for a while and leave.
It appeared Ryker had drastically overestimated Zane’s manners, because not only had he forced the door open and barged in, he had immediately started hurling insults without provocation, Zane is the one kissing people forcefully and yet he’s the bastard, like where’s the logic in that.
Still frowning fiercely, Ryker began the careful process of shifting the sleeping Aiden away from his body. Aiden stirred in his sleep, mumbling softly, and instinctively tried to cling to Ryker, not wanting to let go.
Ryker felt a slight smile tug at his lips at Aiden’s cute, unconscious reaction, a brief moment of lightness amidst the escalating tension. However, Ryker was fundamentally stronger and more controlled than his mate.
He managed to gently ease Aiden free from his embrace, ensuring he was still lying comfortably, and then covered him securely with the bedspread.
Zane stood there, watching the entire tender exchange. The sight only intensified his anger to a furious boil. He thought Ryker was utterly shameless, deliberately getting into Aiden’s bed and acting like a doting partner, like who’s Ryker trying to fool.
Ryker ignored Zane’s fierce glare completely. He rose to his feet, walking past the Fae toward the door.
"Let’s go downstairs to talk, I don’t want to wake aiden up" Ryker commanded, his voice low and utterly devoid of emotion. He didn’t wait for a response, simply heading out first.
Zane could only fume at Ryker’s sheer nonchalance. However, just like Ryker, Zane didn’t want to risk waking Aiden. Reluctantly, he followed Ryker’s lead, moving downstairs. The old wooden floor creaked loudly under his heavy, frustrated footsteps.
Downstairs, Ryker was already standing, waiting patiently, staring out into the darkness through a broken window pane.
Zane was quick to confront him, closing the distance despite the unsettling noise the floorboards made beneath him.
He grabbed Ryker by the collar of his shirt, his grip demanding and furious. "How dare you sleep on Aiden’s bed, you vermin?" Zane demanded, his voice thick with possessive rage.
"Don’t you know I’m pursuing aiden and I’m planning on marrying him in the future? How dare you touch what’s mine? And besides, don’t you already have a fiancée? Why do you go after other people’s partners? Don’t you think you are incredibly shameless?"
Ryker was momentarily speechless, but not from intimidation. The first words out of Zane’s mouth had been the Fae calling Aiden his "partner." Apart from the burning fury he felt over Zane daring to claim his true mate as his partner, Ryker was utterly flabbergasted by Zane’s breathtaking level of self-delusion and audacity.
Ryker looked Zane directly in the eyes, his own gaze sharp and condemning. "Have you perhaps gone crazy from overthinking?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"What level of wishful thinking is this? Aiden is your partner? Don’t you think that is utterly ridiculous? Did Aiden agree to you being his partner or did you just think that all on your own? Are you insane? Aiden hates you and hates the fact that you keep pestering him. What kind of person are you? You are so confidently able to sputter such rubbish without even the decency to blush, you’re such a shamless person."
Zane was thoroughly enraged by Ryker’s words, especially the assertion that Aiden hated him. His grip on Ryker’s shirt tightened violently, as if he were trying to choke the Alpha to death. Zane’s eyes flashed red, a mark of his soaring anger.
"I like Aiden," Zane declared self-righteously. "So if I go after him for some more time, he will definitely fall for me. It’s impossible for someone to hate me! So how dare you say that Aiden hates me? I know that if I put in more effort, Aiden will like me too. So Ryker, stop being this shameless and coming after Aiden every time and making him uncomfortable when you already have your own fiancée. You can’t have the best of two worlds, so go tend to your stuck-up fiancée and leave Aiden alone."
Ryker could not deal with Zane’s monumental, deluded shamelessness any longer. He reacted swiftly and violently. He yanked Zane’s hand away from his shirt, the force of the movement surprising the Fae. With a slight but definitive effort, Ryker twisted and broke one of Zane’s wrists.
Before Zane could even process the sudden, blinding pain or attempt to retaliate, Ryker’s fist connected sharply with Zane’s face.
"You’re crazy," Ryker spat out, standing over the reeling Fae. "So you needed that punch to knock off whatever delusion is keeping you high. You liking Aiden is your business, but do you have to be so disgusting about it? You keep distressing Aiden with your unwanted feelings. And did you just say that it’s impossible for someone to hate you? Who do you think you are, Wolverine or Superman? Even I hate you, and you dare say it’s impossible to hate you. You are completely ridiculous! I don’t know who has been feeding your ego, but you have been so overfed that you actually think you’re all that. Zane, wake up."
Having delivered his final, scathing words, Ryker used his enhanced superspeed. He shot up the giant, creaky staircase before Zane could even react or attempt a reply. Ryker didn’t return to Aiden’s room; he went straight to his own designated room, leaving Zane abandoned in the dusty hall.
Zane, still wanting to launch himself at Ryker, was shocked to realize the Alpha was gone. He felt a wave of impotent frustration and blinding pain. In his fury, he channeled his aggression and violently punched the wall of the dilapidated building, his mind imagining that the crumbling plaster was Ryker’s infuriating, unyielding face.
