Chapter 246: 246

Lin Meilin almost fell from the chair after hearing Yang Ze. She hurriedly looked at him, wondering if he was just joking. After all, she knew better than anyone just how difficult the First ring... the Earth Realm of the Mystic Nether Art truly was. She had known for quite a while now that the boy in front of her practises Mystic Nether Art, and was somewhat talented in it. But even in her wildest imagination, she didn’t think that he would be able to visualise one hundred objects so soon.

One had to understand that even the most talented person she had ever known took years just to visualise a single mortal object. But this little bastard... Not only did he visualise one hundred objects, but he also did it so soon.

For a moment, her brain almost stopped working, and she even began to wonder if she was in the midst of a tribulation. How can there be someone so heaven-defying in this world?

"Prove it." What Yang Ze just said was so outrageous that she didn’t dare to believe it. Although she didn’t want to believe it, judging by the smug expression on the little bastard’s face, she had a bad feeling.

"Okay." Yang Ze merely shrugged in response before closing his eyes.

Lin Meilin, sitting beside him, watched intently, afraid to even breathe out loud. She saw his otherworldly face, those cherry red lips that constantly made her heart itch and that smooth skin and perfect doll like exquisite face. For a moment, she was tempted to take a bite, even forgetting about the Mystic Nether Art.

But then she shook her head furiously, throwing out all those distracting thoughts and focusing on Yang Ze’s face.

She watched in silence as Yang Ze, after sitting there with his eyes closed for a good ten minutes, finally opened them before tapping on the chair’s armrest. And the moment he did that, a blue light burst out from his finger, completely enveloping an area of two meters radius, and when it finally subsided, the scene around her had already changed beyond recognition.

Instead of sitting in an open field, they were inside a small, exquisite room. The walls of the room were made of fine, aged woods, giving off a pleasant smell. The walls were covered with numerous paintings displaying various scenes in different styles. Some that she could understand and some she couldn’t. Other than the two chairs and a table that she initially placed for the two of them, there was a whole lot of furniture.

At the corner was a wardrobe with numerous clothes in it, then there was a large, luxurious bed, a table upon which ink and paper were placed, and a soft rug under their feet. Throughout the room, there were lamps in which small glowing stones were placed, lighting up the dark room, and then there was a single open window in front of both Lin Meilin and Yang Ze, from where they could see the outside world.

"....."

"....."

Looking at the room he created, Yang Ze couldn’t help but nod in satisfaction. Compared to before, he was getting more and more proficient in using the Mystic Nether Art to create things.

Lin Meilin, on the other hand, just froze. With a mouth wide open in disbelief and a face full of shock, she kept on looking around, unable to believe that all of this was manifested by the brat sitting beside her.

It took her a moment to come back to her senses as she touched everything around her in the room.

It wasn’t until a good ten or so minutes passed that she finally let out a sharp breath before controlling her riling emotions and looking at the brat beside her.

"You..." She wanted to ask him how this was possible.

She herself had tried this Mystic Nether art many times, but had given up because of its difficulty. For the current her, the value that this skill provided was non-existent. It might be good for some low-level cultivators like Yang Ze, but for the true powerhouse at her level, manifesting things was just not worth the effort.

"How did you do it?" Even though she didn’t want to ask, she couldn’t help but ask. She just couldn’t understand how a brat who wasn’t even in his twenties was able to accomplish such a thing. Mere the word ’talent’ wasn’t enough to describe this miracle.

"Ummm. I don’t know." Yang Ze just shrugged in response. There were some talents that he didn’t hide from her, but there were also some talents that he didn’t want to share with her. And one of those talents was his most useful as well as the most ridiculous talent, ’Enlightenment’.

It was with this talent that he managed to accomplish everything to date. Without it, it would have taken him decades to just visualise one object, much less one hundred.

"....." Seeing his half-hearted reply, Lin Meilin narrowed her eyes before letting out a cold snort and averting her gaze. It was clear that he didn’t want to talk about it. Lin Meilin didn’t force him to speak. Everyone in the cultivation world has their own secrets and opportunities.

She didn’t know what secrets the brat might be hiding or what his opportunities were, and she certainly wasn’t willing to sour their relationship by forcing him to speak. Besides... he was her greatest opportunity. Whatever secrets he might be hiding, she was going to uncover them one day. But till then...

"Fine." She muttered a single word as she gazed outside the window.

"What other skills do you have?" It wasn’t until a few minutes passed that Lin Meilin asked again.

"Umm..." Yang Ze thought for a moment, hesitating over whether to tell her about the only red talent or not. But in the end, decided against it. Not because he was wary of her, but because he wanted to keep a few cards hidden. Perhaps in the future, if their relationship ever improves and he might trust her, then and only then would he tell her about it. But till then, he was going to keep his mouth shut.

"That’s all."

"I see." Lin Meilin didn’t think too much about it as she began to tap the chair.

"Well, now that I know about your skills and how you think, I have planned your training." With a soft hum, she patted both her hands and in that instant, the walls, the rug under their feet and everything that he had manifested disappeared, leaving behind the figure of those two sitting on chairs with a table in front of them.

"Holy." This was the second time Yang Ze saw someone break his manifested items with such ease. Although he was surprised by it, he didn’t think too much. With how strong the woman beside him was, it was easy for her to accomplish such a task.

"Let’s go." Standing up, Lin Meilin stretched her body, displaying her proud curves that were hidden under that loose robe as she signalled Yang Ze to follow her.

"For the next week, I am going to teach you how to fight." With a cold voice, she continued further. "I am going to pummel everything that I have learned into that thick head of yours."

"Brace yourself."

"It is going to hurt."

With a smirk, Lin Meilin simply waved her hand, grabbing Yang Ze by his collar as their figures disappeared from there.

—--------------------------

The next seven days were the most miserable days of his life. Every day, he would fight against Lin Meilin with just a single objective... touch her once.

Initially, when Lin Meilin gave him this objective, Yang Ze merely sneered in response. In his mind, even though he was weaker than Lin Meilin by countless times, touching her was something that he could definitely accomplish. Especially with the number of skills that he had.

And so, with a heart full of confidence, he rushed towards Lin Meilin, wanting to show off.

And that was the moment from which his miserable seven days started.

Forget about touching Lin Meilin’s body; he couldn’t even touch her shadow. He tried using his movement technique, he tried using his illusions, and even tried to use his wail to touch her, but every time he tried those techniques, Lin Meilin dodged them gracefully.

But that wasn’t enough.

After dodging, she would use a whip made up of internal energy to whip him up.

With how perfect her control over her internal energy was, the whip didn’t harm Yang Ze in the slightest, but it gave him a heart-wrenching pain. Every time that whip struck Yang Ze’s body, he felt like he was being skinned alive by a hot knife.

And thus, every day from morning till night, Yang Ze’s miserable cries filled the air.

At one moment, he even got angry over being beaten black and blue and used the Black Tiger Technique to turn into a giant tiger to attack Lin Meilin, hoping to repay her. But what he got in return was an ever more severe beating that almost made him unconscious.

But Lin Meilin didn’t beat him just for pleasure. Every time she beat him up, she would also tell him his shortcomings and what he needed to do.

Gradually, Yang Ze got more and more proficient with his techniques. If earlier, he was like an aimless chicken, then after three days, he became a novice.

"You did well." Looking at the figure of Yang Ze, who was lying on the ground like a dead dog, Lin Meilin couldn’t help but give him a gentle nod.

This was the seventh and final day of his training. The past week of daily beatings finally brought a substantial improvement in this brat. Now, he wasn’t as reckless as before and was rushing to attack. Now, he took his time to first calmly observe, make a suitable plan and then act on it.

Although there was still a lot that he needed to learn, the current him had improved by leaps and bounds.

"I did well?" Lying on the ground, Yang Ze couldn’t help but let out a bitter smile as he regulated his breathing. He felt like he had wasted an entire week doing nothing. He did his best to try to touch Lin Meilin once, but what he got in return was a merciless beating.

Unlike Lin Meilin, he felt like his progress was stuck at day one.

"Hey... no need to feel bad." Seeing his crestfallen look, Lin Meilin couldn’t help but sit beside him on the ground as she raised her hand to poke his soft nose.

"The current you could easily beat the previous you."

"One can not learn everything in a few days from a single person."

"I am teaching you what I learned from my experiences."

"And you will do so too."

"Which is why, after careful consideration, I have chosen your next mission."

"Huh!?" Listening to her, Yang Ze couldn’t help but widen his eyes in response. What was she even talking about? At first, he thought she was consoling him, but now... now listening to her, it was as if she was purposefully making things difficult for him. The last time she sent him the so-called ’mission’, he almost died.

That damned monster he saw in that sea still gave him nightmares.

He didn’t dare to imagine what kind of ridiculous mission she was going to send him on next.

For a moment, he was even beginning to consider whether taking her as a master was truly a wise choice.

"Hmph!" Sensing his thoughts, Lin Meiling couldn’t help but snort in response as she clasped Yang Ze’s nose before pulling it up.

"Don’t worry. It is not life-threatening."

"Your next mission is rather simple." With a smile that wasn’t quite the smile, Lin Meilin gently caressed his exquisite face.

"Go to the Yan Kingdom’s capital, infiltrate the royal family and get me a treasure."

With a soft chuckle, she took out a small book from her robe and placed it on Yang Ze’s face.

"This is the complete knowledge on how to step into the Core Condensation realm."

"Once you accomplish this mission, I will tell you everything about the Soul Tempering realm and above and answer any one question of yours."

"So...." With a soft laugh, she bent down, with her face planted directly above Yang Ze’s, obstructed by the book; their foreheads were the only thing that touched.

Lin Meilin rested like that for a while before opening her mouth to speak in an incomparable soft voice.

"GO."
