Help!! This Girl Is A Yandere!!!-Chapter 31: The Alpha
He raised his right hand.
Aether surged from Xavier’s Ethercore, coursing with violent grace through the Etherlines embedded in his arm. His palm began to glow—an ethereal, ominous blue that shimmered like a diamond in the darkest of nights.
The wolves flinched, instinctively recoiling as their primal senses registered the overwhelming surge of lethal energy.
The Leader Wolf’s eyes widened, its muscles frozen in place as the human’s fist hovered above it like the judgment of the Grim Reaper. The air itself seemed to still. The aura pouring out from Xavier was suffocating—sharp like a blade, heavy like a boulder, and deathly cold.
And yet... the Leader did not resist.
It closed its eyes.
It did not snarl. Did not twitch. It did not even breathe louder.
It accepted death. If that was the will of the human before it, then so be it.
’Trying to be calm, eh? Let’s see if you can stay calm now!’ Xavier thought, eyes narrowing.
WHOOSH!
"AAOOO!!" the wolves cried out. A few scrambled up from the dirt, muscles tense, ready to react.
But none made a move. Not when they saw Xavier’s fist descending.
And then...
"Aaoo?"
Confusion rippled through the pack as they saw something impossible—Xavier’s fist stopped. Just a few centimeters above the Leader Wolf’s stomach, suspended in the air like an execution paused at the final second.
The Leader, still alive after several heartbeats, opened its eyes slowly. Its breathing remained steady, but its gaze was laced with disbelief.
Xavier exhaled and slowly raised his hand back up, straightening his back as he scanned the scene. Only three wolves had gotten up from the twenty-one-member pack. Yet not one had dared to stop him. Not a single one had tried to intervene.
"Kuhu~" A soft chuckle escaped his lips before his expression returned to its cold, commanding self.
"All of you, get up," he ordered, his right hand lifting authoritatively.
The wolves obeyed instinctively, eyes wide and confused. What had just happened? Was he not about to kill their leader a moment ago?
"Congratulations to you all for passing my test," Xavier said, flashing a thumbs-up and a grin.
"..."
Naturally, the wolves did not understand the words.
But they felt something.
A shift. A change. The tension that had filled the air was slowly beginning to fade.
"You have all proven your loyalty to me. And because of that..." His tone dropped, serious and regal.
"I shall accept you as my servants."
’Damn, I finally got to say these words! It’s every weeb’s dream come true! Except that I’m stronger than those lazy pigs. Ehem... anyways.’
His crimson eyes locked onto the Leader Wolf.
"Especially you... Fyrex."
The Leader blinked.
"...?"
Fyrex? Was that... its name now?
"I’m truly impressed by your decision. Though I know you can’t understand my words, I can’t help but wonder—why did you not choose to fight back? You had the numerical and level advantage. You could have rallied your pack. But instead, you chose to submit."
He shook his head and smiled again.
"But it doesn’t matter. You passed with flying colors. And for that..." he reached into his inventory bag, "I will reward you handsomely."
From within, he retrieved a pulsating red crystal—the Feral Grade Monster Core taken from the Scorching Bear.
’Hehe~ You’ll soon find out why I gave you that name, Fyrex.’
The wolves’ eyes gleamed, captivated by the Core’s potent energy. Even Fyrex’s pupils dilated, drawn toward it with childlike fascination.
"You like it?" Xavier asked, grinning.
Fyrex instinctively nodded.
"Say, ’Aah~’" Xavier opened his own mouth as a gesture.
Excitement swelled in the Leader’s chest. It did not understand why, but its body reacted to the moment.
FOOSH—
GULP!
Xavier tossed the Core toward Fyrex’s mouth. The Ungraded wolf caught it mid-air and swallowed it in one fluid motion.
Without hesitation, Xavier jumped about 25 meters back.
’Oh right, my bag. Can’t forget that.’ He slung it across his back casually.
The rest of the wolves stood still, eyes glued to Fyrex.
They could feel it.
They knew what came next.
’A Level 2 Feral Core... Considering Fyrex is at Level 9 of Tier 0 or Ungraded, this should definitely cause a breakthrough—no, a transcension.’
FLASH!
A blinding red light enveloped Fyrex’s entire body.
Then came the scream—
"AAOOOOOOOO~!!" Fyrex howled, its voice echoing across the forest as the evolution began to ravage its insides.
"Hang in there, Fyrex! You’ve got this!" Xavier shouted, punching the air in support.
"Aaoo!!" the wolves roared in unison, cheering their leader on.
It was the first time any of them had witnessed one of their own undergoing evolution.
The cries intensified with every passing second. Fyrex trembled, spasmed, and howled in agony. Evolution was no blessing—it was a trial by fire. A crucible.
’Ten minutes... That’s how long it’s supposed to take,’ Xavier recalled. ’Which means this is the last minute now.’
The howls were thunderous. So loud that even Xavier winced, covering his ears from the sheer force of Fyrex’s roars.
Time passed with only a minute remaining.
60 seconds left.
The roars peaked.
40 seconds.
Suddenly—silence.
Xavier’s eyes narrowed.
’What? It stopped? Did it pass out?’
30 seconds.
The red light intensified, burning twice as bright.
20 seconds.
The radiance grew blinding. Xavier and the wolves were forced to shut their eyes, unable to bear the intensity.
FUUSSSHH!!
10 seconds.
Fyrex’s body caught fire—flames erupted across its limbs, a blazing inferno that forced Xavier to stumble backward.
’W-What is this heat!? I’m practically cooking alive! And I don’t even have Fire Resistance! Damn, this is insane!’ Beads of sweat rolled down Xavier’s temple.
Time slowed.
Every second dragged like an eternity.
And then, silence reigned once more.
It was over.
The red light faded.
Xavier opened his eyes.
"...!"
His jaw dropped.
’What the actual hell is THAT?! Hell incarnate!?’
Standing before him was no mere wolf.
A beast—no, a monster—towered in its place. Three times the size of a normal wolf, its fur a glimmering blend of red and brown, glowing like smelted copper. Every step it took made the ground sizzle.
Its eyes burned like molten lava. Flames danced across its limbs.
Its claws—long, obsidian black—curved like scythes, glowing red-hot at the tips.
Its snarling maw held rows of jagged, flame-wreathed teeth. The air around it warped with heat.
Twin whips of flame lashed and cracked behind it, leaving streaks of fire in their wake. They coiled like serpents, sentient and ready to strike.’
A savage grin broke out across Xavier’s face.
’With this power... I can finally hunt down higher grade monsters. Kuhuhu~ I’m a genius!’
He narrowed his eyes.
’From the feel of it, it’s at Level 2 of the Feral Grade, same as the Scorching Bear... But even if the bear wasn’t injured, this thing would destroy it. No questions asked.’
’Which means... its Foundation must have reached the third step. That is the only way it could develop Prowess.’
’And Prowess means it can fight above its level... maybe even its Tier...’
’Just like me.’
Xavier’s eyes gleamed with ambition.
’If it can take on at least a Level 3 Feral Grade... then I’ve truly created a monster.’
Fyrex finally turned to Xavier.
Their eyes met.
Xavier tensed.
’What now? Will it attack me, thinking itself stronger? Or... will it remain loyal?’
’If it attacks, I will kill it and take its Core. Simple.’
Fyrex stepped forward.
Its paws left flaming scorch marks in the earth.
Xavier twitched. ’Hmm... It better learn to hide that. Otherwise, we will be too easy to track like this...’
The massive beast stood before him. Its presence was overwhelming.
Then... Fyrex lowered its head.
Its eyes closed.
Its snout touched the ground.
It bowed.
The other wolves were stunned.
Their leader—who had become something beyond their comprehension—was bowing to a human. A human weaker than it, not just in terms of Level but by Grade/Tier.
Respect and awe surged in their chests.
One by one, they followed suit.
Snouts to the ground.
A silent pledge of loyalty.
Xavier felt something stirring in his chest. A deep, overwhelming satisfaction.
’Hmm... This feels good. I could definitely get used to this.’
"Ehem."
He coughed, composing himself.
"I am not your new Leader," he announced, raising his voice for all to hear.
"I am your..."
"ALPHA!!"
"AAAAOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" the wolves howled in unison, voices filled with fire and reverence.
"Hup!" Xavier leapt onto Fyrex’s back, now the throne of a beast.
Looking down at the wolves below, he smiled wide.
"My warriors! Now that I have rewarded your leader, it’s time to reward all of you!"
"Pledge your heart, body, and soul to me—and I promise, I shall lead you to a future unlike anything this world has ever witnessed!"
"AAOOOO!!" The wolves cried again, louder than ever.
They didn’t understand his words.
But their instincts did.
And if their Alpha commanded them to charge into the Underworld itself, they would do it without hesitation.
"Let’s roll!!" Xavier shouted, pointing forward with a spark in his eyes.
