Hero Hack: Reversing Heroes and Raising Harem-Chapter 236: The Silent Base
Chapter 236: The Silent Base
Drask walked down the dark road alone, his steps slow but full of pride.
The sky was cloudy, hiding the moon, but Drask’s yellow eyes gleamed with excitement.
He suddenly laughed out loud, his voice echoing through the empty road.
"Hahaha... that was beautiful."
He was wiping a tear from the corner of his eye.
"Blazren’s face—oh, I’ll never forget it."
He kept walking, dragging one clawed finger along the metal guardrail beside him.
Sparks flew as his sharp nail scratched deep grooves into the steel.
"So serious. So noble," Drask mocked, grinning.
"And all this time, his precious Zain was the Heavenly Demon."
He threw his head back and laughed again.
"Not just a fake name! No—he’s the real one."
"The villain they were hunting. The one right under their noses."
He stopped in the middle of the road, tilting his head.
"Ah, the chaos it’ll cause..." he whispered.
"Hero Association, full of fools."
"Watching their ’rising star’ shine, not knowing he was sharpening his blade behind their backs."
He snorted and kicked a loose rock down the road.
It bounced and echoed in the silence.
"Blazren probably feels sick. His little partner, his battle buddy—turns out he’s the leader of a villain group."
"A demon in disguise. A damn beautiful twist."
Drask cracked his knuckles slowly, flexing his claws.
"And to think I was just going to slow them down today."
"I didn’t expect a full confession," he chuckled.
"I really should thank Zain. He made this too easy."
He began walking again, faster this time.
"Now the news will spread. Once Blazren reports back, the whole AA-Rank circle will start to question things."
"Some might believe him, others might think he’s crazy. But the doubt? It’ll sink in."
Drask’s smirk widened.
"And doubt is where heroes crumble."
He scratched his chin with one finger.
"If the Hero Association starts tearing itself apart..."
"We won’t even have to attack. They’ll destroy themselves."
Drask looked up at the sky again and grinned.
"Let the heroes turn on each other," he muttered.
"Let Zain become their nightmare."
He disappeared into the night, laughter still echoing behind him.
---
Drask stepped through the gates of the Beastkin Brood base, his boots thudding against the cracked concrete.
He expected noise. Movement. Someone to greet him.
But there was nothing.
Silence.
He slowed his pace. His glowing yellow eyes scanned the area.
"Where is everyone...?" he muttered, his voice low.
The front guard post was empty. Doors hung open.
Lights flickered in the hallways, but no footsteps, no voices, no roars of beasts.
Drask’s frown deepened.
His claws flexed as he stepped into the main hallway.
He sniffed the air. Something was wrong.
The scent of blood. Burned metal.
He growled and picked up his pace.
"Doctor!" he shouted, his voice echoing off the walls.
"Syvran! Where the hell are you?!"
No response.
Drask bolted down the corridor.
The lab doors were half open, one broken off its hinges.
Deep claw marks and scorched lines ran along the walls.
He pushed the doors wide and stepped inside.
His eyes darted across the room.
Broken equipment. Scattered files. Spilled serum bottles.
Chairs were overturned. The reinforced wall at the back was cracked.
And the entire chamber smelled like a battlefield.
"What... happened here?" he whispered.
Drask walked toward the far side of the room.
He saw shattered glass tubes—some were cages.
A blood smear ran along the floor leading toward the back exit.
He followed it slowly, crouching once to examine a torn piece of cloth.
It was from Syvran’s coat.
His jaw tightened.
"Doctor...?" he called out again, quieter this time.
No answer.
Drask straightened and looked around the destroyed lab.
He knew this wasn’t a hero assault. If it were, the place would be leveled.
This was something precise. Fast. Controlled.
Then he saw the mark burned into the floor.
A faint symbol. Circular. Laced in neon pink energy.
Velvet Demon.
Drask clenched his fists.
"She was here..."
He turned away from the symbol, his expression cold.
"So this is what happened. They found us. They didn’t just stop our attack—they came for the source."
His foot nudged a crushed injector.
Empty.
He picked it up and looked at the shattered canisters.
"They even took the doctor... no doubt for the serum secrets."
He stormed out of the lab and headed for the central comm room.
The place was just as ruined. Screens were smashed, records deleted.
Nothing left.
He stood in the center of the base, the silence louder than before.
"They played us..." he growled.
"They weren’t just defending... they were hunting."
His claws clicked against each other.
"This means war."
Drask’s voice dropped to a whisper.
"Velvet Demon... Heavenly Demon... you think you’ve won?"
He turned toward the nearest exit tunnel, his coat fluttering behind him.
"Then I’ll make sure the next wave doesn’t just shake the city..."
He bared his fangs.
"It’ll bury it."
But then a voice rang out from behind.
"So you want to bury the city because you lost one base?"
Drask’s body froze.
That voice.
He spun around.
Standing calmly in the middle of the corridor, hands in his pockets, was Zain.
The Heavenly Demon.
Zain’s crimson eyes glowed under the dim light.
His coat swayed slightly as he stepped forward.
Drask narrowed his eyes. "Zain. How... how can you be here?"
Zain shrugged with a slow smirk. "Why can’t I be?"
"This base was the most hidden one," Drask snapped.
"Even the Hero Association hasn’t found it."
Zain chuckled. "You still don’t understand. I’m not with them anymore."
He pulled his hand from his coat and pointed at Drask.
"You exposed my secret. You dared to show that video to Blazren."
Drask took a cautious step back. "So what? You were hiding it."
Zain’s smile faded.
"I let you walk away once."
He cracked his knuckles.
"I won’t make that mistake again."
Drask growled. "Try it. I won’t run this time."
Zain raised his head.
"I’m not here to chase you."
He unsheathed his sword slowly.
"I’m here to end you."
